  • Macbook pro 13" resolution is 1280 x 800.

When you link it to a HD TV, it is possible to increase resolution to 1920 x 1080 ?

Will this affect the performance a lot? will it still work fluently?

    Many thanks

  • So i just baught one that has a direct plug in to the mini display port. It is a 6 foot cord. It is not working though, why? It shows that it is connected with the standard outer space like thing on the tv but it does not show my dest top. Help?

  • You must have a shit life

  • @nirvanakurt86 you do know you can close it.

  • @GMELECTRONICS365 can you close the new macbook pro while watching a movie connected to your hdtv?

  • @CiaranVanDon Yes.

  • lag

  • Sweet video fag

  • Sweet video fag

  • ummm....that made no sense whatsoever!!!

  • Apple mini display ---> Vga, or

Apple mini display ---> Dvi ---> HDMI ???

  • i have hdmi to minidisplay cabel and it doesnt work wtf

  • Your music is annoying...

  • OMFG THIS VIDEO IS SO EPIC!!!!!!!! :D

  • turn that fucking shit music off lol

  • what about sound? my sound is coming out of my laptop how do i change it to my tv?

  • @ddrkid1919 you have to have a cord thats like an ipod headphne jack 3.5 mm on boh sides and plug it into the tv and your computer then set your tvs audio in settings to pc not headphone jack the pc audio jack

  • your an idiot

  • @bruminski10 that's not how you spell "you're", who's the idiot now

  • @spameister still you

  • ok so this is exactly what i did. I got a dandy picture of my desktop picture on my tv now. Can't play movies or anything. So what now??

  • @hijessicamyers You need to go to system preferences on your mac and then go to display.

then look in between the colour tab and the display tab and click the tab that says arrangement (or

something along those lines) Then check the box that says mirror displays and that should solve your

    problems

  • 1080i is half of 1080p...... just saying

  • Apple should just start putting hdmi cable ports on there computers

  • @SagBobet Aleluia there is one in Mac Mini!

  • @SagBobet I agree for everything except the laptops. HDMI ports are just too wide and would hog room that could be used for other ports.

  • @SagBobet They put one port on the computers that people can convert into whatever they want. An HDMI, DVI, VGA or any other kind of video port is just a waste of space (ugly as hell too).

  • @SagBobet YES THEY SHOULD... sued they will be for being un practical

  • @SagBobet its obvious that apple wants to make more money like that so people would buy the display port

  • @SagBobet They don't do that because mini-display ports are they own. And it's coming more and more

  • @SagBobet yeea ur totaly right :)

  • how did u get to the thing that lets u change the resolution for the tv? i am having difficulty finding on my macbook

  • How come 1080p doesn't work? 1080i is bleh. Are you able to get audio trough the cable aswell ? Im guessing you have the late 2009 model ?

  • HELP plz!!! i'd connect my alu macbook to my HDready 32" bravia LCD via Minidisplay port to VGA cable i should have get 1366*768 but i only can get 1280*768... i did use some software but i couldnt exactly figure how to do it and its just mess wit my os.

plz help me with this ?!?!/1?!1!!!

  • this song perfectly fits the video.

  • when i get a 42" to hang in my room i'm gonna connect my macbook to it and use it not only for gaming via ps3, but also as a monitor for my mac, and maybe for gaming on it via windows 7 (codwaw, left4dead, counter-strike, etc)

  • I don't think it will handle the resolution of a 42" as I think it exceeds the maximum resolution. I would recommend asking in any Apple store, they explained to me that things mess up easily with the mini-displayport, they recommended an DVI converter instead of the HD converter because it handles more and better resolutions.

  • and they offered you theirs for their ridiculous price of 100 plus tax?

  • What your saying is ridiculous, the converters are expensive yes, but I only payed about 25 euro's for it, still needed an extension cable for the DVI but the quality is excactly the same as my 13" on my 22" TV.

  • So you paid for a cable that needs another cable yet I'm the one saying ridiculous stuff...cool

  • yes you do say so, because it doesn't even come near '100 plus tax'

  • MDP to Dual-link DVI = 100 + tax.

    MDP to DVI = $20 + tax

    DVI to HDMI = varies

    Assuming you buy from apple.

Monoprice = $15 for MDP to DVI.

Mono Price = $15 for DVI to HDMI.

But you can buy the combo MDP to HDMi and HDMI cable for 12.99.

  • I don't know where you got the prices from and the items but all I needed for my 21" monitor I already have and a Macbook 13" I also already have was:

1x MDP to DVI which was about 25 euro's (from an Apple store)

1x DVI extension cable because the Apple cable is just barely 10cm long, got this cable from a regular hardware store and costed me about something between 5-10 euro's.

    Overall it didn't even cost 35 euro's..

Guys at Apple store said HDMI cables don't support all high resolutions.

  • DL-DVI! not DVI.

HDMI is better than DVI because it supports resolutions past 1080p unlike DVI. that only shows how much they were trying to rip you off at Apple Store.

  • I only needed DVI for my screen, besides, a normal Macbook Pro won't support over 1920 x 1200 or something like that (just like mine does).

The HDMI cables are overpriced and the quality of the DVI and HDMI on the same resolutions are the same as far as I've noticed and you won't need a 'better' cable that supports higher if your mac doesn't support higher.

They tried to sell me an extension cable which was about 30 there, but I got one for 1/3 of the price somewhere else.

  • go to monoprice . com n look for hdmi cables and mini display port to hdmi.

hdmi is not supported by apple bc they dont want to pay the hdmi royalty fee(google it) whereas hdmi, you pay a fee.

Soon, 1900 x 1200 will become old technology.

  • @cmontesi23 explain the apple cinema display it uses dvi and it resolution is past 1920 x 1080

  • @cmontesi23 That is utter bollocks. HDMI is exactly the same protocol as DVI except that it incorporates audio and HDCP as standard. Dual link DVI will support WQUXGA resolution (3,840 × 2,400) @ 33 Hz. All digital video formats are limited only by their clock frequencies, in this case 330 Mhz, which equates to 7.92 Gbit/s for DVI/HDMI.

  • Imma do this kind of setup in the near future. hehehe

Check out my MacBook Pro unboxing vid over at my channel :]

  • Let see a Movie!!! How it works?
