  • Absolutely facinating watching Reno posture and make his calls. How old are he and Duncan?

And what exactly is the "whoop whoop" sound they're making? Is it just something they both picked up--mimicry--or does it have actual meaning to corvids?

Thanks so much for posting all the videos of your wonderful friends. I need the research on how ravens actually sound and act, and this helps immensely!

  • @rookerie ~ Reno and Duncan are both just one year old. the whoop whoop is them mimicking me saying "Hello, hello" in a high voice. I'm glad you like the vids, I'm sure they're be many to come.

  • I want to raise a raven myself sometime in the future, and I was wondering if I needed any special permits? I only intend on raising one or two with hopes of keeping them as pets. Are they difficult to raise and maintain clean?

  • @KitBikyuu ~ It is not legal in the U.S. to have a native crow or raven, unless you get a Wildlife Rehabilitation license, work under a licensed rehabilitator or veterinarian. You must never think of them as "pets". They are guests and companions. They are very messy and require a lot of attention, as they are very intelligent. You can obtain a hybrid raven from Corvid Ranch in Alabama.

  • @euromerc As euromerc says, and those are legal.

  • This is paradise to me - surrounded by corvids
