I have a 2000 Au and a 2000 lancer MR 1.8. Falcon has shit me to tears with it's constant need for repairs, blown head gasket and cracked head, radiator problems, coil pack keeps shitting itself.. Just not my cup of tea. The lancer has virtually the same kms, has been driven fairly hard most of it's life, is quicker than the au but has less torque, and the only thing wrong with it is the plugs keep fouling up every few months. Call it a riceburner cos it can get 3L/100kms on the highway..? Yay

I had 5 different Falcons in my lifetime and they never let me down, but again it is whether u can believe it or not. My previous car was 1996 EF XR8 manual, Believe me I gave it heaps, and I went thru 4 or 5 set of tyres in one year. The clutch n gearbox never failed.....I only traded it away few months ago. Was heart broken, but am happy with my current HSV beater.
