You can go to any part of the world and people know who Hogan is, you can't say that about Steve Austin.
Also, not many know this but Hogan had some great matches in Japan, those were his best matches as a wrestler, since in japan they dont go for that power/strong wrestling like in the states, they love skill, and watching Hogan fighting that type of matches over there was a real eye opener, i used to think he was mediocre in the art of wrestling since he didn't show much moves in the states.
@PsychosamaticLP They should have agreed to a draw.Someone was a dickhead in those negotiations.Judging from hogan jobbing out to everyone in 2002 after wonning the belt from triple H,it was probably austin that was being the big dick in negotiations. You have to be a little jealous of hogan being in austins shoes because theres a possibility no matter how popular austin was or is,he may never get out od hogans shadow as the real mr wrestling in history.
@PsychosamaticLP I figure hogan wanted that finale and austin didnt want the hulking up because it plays into hogans credit more.SHould have compromised as the Rock did but if the rock knew what would happen in toronto with history being made, a heel is cheered on against the most popular wrestler at that time,he would't have agreed on the hulking up either. You cant touch this aspect of hogan. As he said,"its not vinces world when Im out there, its my world and no one can do anything about it"
@PsychosamaticLP Alot like the gladiator.Austin was the Maximus of his period, the greatest gladiator but Hogan was the Hercules of mythology.A little more profound status thruout the 4 decades he wrestled.Austin barely made it 8 years ,hogan only needed back street local cable stations to start and grew into a world phenomenon, the beginning of the chain of entertainment wrestling started with HOGAN,Austin is a link in the original hogan chain.Hope this clears it up a little more for you..
lol austin , he doesnt want to hear what wwe universe want . Austin vs Hogan & Austin vs Goldberg will never happen . Rock > Austin cause we see Rock vs Hogan (twice) , and Rock vs Goldberg . .
@TheStonecold4life he was nothing until mcmahon created the lewd era ,97,and made austin the feature character of the lewd era.Vince was on the verge of bankruptsy because of the boring midget HBK and diesel .Hogan saved his ass in 83 and ausstin saved his ass in 97 but austin is really only an 8 yr character.
@nightotter54 You know what, I have a perfectly well-though out response, but I think I'll save my effort. I'll simply say that TNA makes everyone suck, and that Austin has stated that he's perfectly healthy enough to step back in, but just doesn't want to.
If Hogan ever leaves TNA, and Austin ever decides to get back into the ring, This match could totally work. Especially if they absolutely stress that its a one-time thing, and that Austin will not be wrestling again any time soon after. Stone Cold still gets massive heat, and let's face it, everyone on earth knows who Hogan is. Actually, I think the fact that they're both "old" now makes the winner mean less. So they can put the politics of the victor aside and have a memorable match.

Austin broke his popularity???!!! Wtf, lmao!!!! Dude I'm one of the biggest austin fans ever. But I also lived through the original hulkamania days. Austin had like a 6 or 7yr run where he was popular. And got injured and it was over. Hogan is and always will be the biggest draw in wrestling for all time. He ruled the 80s and lead the nwo in the 90s which was retarded popular. Shit, that old motherfucker is still wrestling!!!
@deion152002 well the Hogan/andre rematch in 88 drew higher ratings than austin ever did, and o agree on sales, but Hogan's popularity lasted throughout the 80's to the 90's.. and austin became a top draw in 98-01...in 2002 u can tell his pop wasnt as big as it was years ago
@Allapattahgoon Yea kno doubt Hogans 88 drew more ratings, but if your going by popularity stone cold remains still the top guy in the industry. 2002 was when he left the wwe for seven months before returning to wwe in 03, and that was only after he was a heel in 2001 after wrestlemania with the rock. Even still he was voted best wrestler of the decade and did you hear the pop he got when he returned compared to hulk hogans debut in TNA, Not even a comparison
What would happen, you ask? The janitor in that arena would have to work a double shift, just to clean up the sticky mess from the seats and the floor.
This match will be one to remember. Besides i want this match to happen so austin can get his revenge on hulk hogan for what he did on 2002 nwo. Immortal or Hollywood, Redyellow or blackwhite he texas rattle snake will turn him brownblack
@godofwarrocksman Hogan needed an opponent who could compliment his style and character. Not everyone would be good for hogan. The ultimate warrior/hogan match in 98 was the worst match in history.Austin and hogan would be bad too.Hogan vs the rock was good only because hogan was playing a heel and the arena was overwhelmingly cheering for hogan, the bad guy.It was history making that most rattlesnake fans don't realize. In wrestling you cant have two charasmatic guys against eachother.
@Vforvendetta555 Hay check out my Hulk Hogan Parody video here on you tube and feel free to comment thanks and if there's n ad would u click on it for me
@Vforvendetta555 hogan was so overrated, his wrestling skills were so pathetic. Austin saved wwe from goin under while becoming the biggest star ever. sorry but i never liked hogan, only time he was ok was when he was nwo.
@Vforvendetta555 your right man there never wi.... wait one damn second... i just remebered someone just like his ... JOHN CENA they both suck they are both the supermen of their eras and they both take steroids
@Vforvendetta555 thats where your wrong my friend, its one thing to put something on the map, but its another to save it at a time when people knew it was fake
@Vforvendetta555 i have to disagree, hogan put wrestling on the map no doubt. but austin took to likes it has never seen before and probably will never be again. the ratings the merchandise his pop when he walked out in every city. Its one thing to put it on the map but its an whole another animal when you save it from the grips of death and rescue it never to look back.
@uguess94 false, stone cold took wwf by storm in 1997, the night he won the belt from shawn wwf never lost a monday night ratings war to nitro. rock did not become huge until november of 1998 as a heel mainly due to his alliance with the corporation. the argument could be mad that there could be no rock without austin. Austin arrived and was well on top before the rock was promoted to main event status. while austin was taking wrestling by storm the rock was wrestling triple h on the undercard.
@MrChamp316 he wouldnt have lasted if it were not for his mania matches with The Rock and to be honest i dont care what you say because that is the absolute 1000% truth
@ryanhitmanfury Hogan receiving the Stone Cold Stunner in a sanctioned match would be the most viewed clip or video in the history of Pro Wrestling. Fans all over the world would talk about it for years to come.
I will say this.. hogan cant wrestle worth of damn.. and he even said that ric flair was the better wrestler of the two.. but listen to the pop this man gets every time he steps in a wwe ring.. john cena cant say this..
the way hogan says WHAT WOULD ALL THESE HULKAMANIACS DO IF HULK HOGAN CLIMBS ON THE RING WITH "THE RATTLESNAKE STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN" .... man the reaction of the crowd is crazy... just to watch this again makes feel like a real fan once again... but sadly this match will never happen :(
hogan was an absolute legend but when he turned heel he was a complete cunt and was never again hulk hogan, when he let warrior beat him all them years ago, that was a 1 off, hez a cry baby and has 2 have his own way most of the time, but he let the rock beat him at wrestlemania, and also hhh, despite them being brill results, hulk just does'nt like loosin in a fair manner, he should of let bret hart and shawn micheals do the same, and austin? should of happened. anyway, hogans a dick'ed!!!!
Sad that this match never took place. Both Hogan and Austin did not agree on the outcome apparently. And logically, Austin being the newer star would have been put over Hogan, as is the tradition in WWE. Hogan does not like Austin, he did not applaud for Austin even at an HoF ceremony. Austin is not too fond of Hogan either. This match would have been huge in 2002, even in 2005-6. I read somewhere a few days ago that Hogan wants a match with Austin, but today it won't be that big.
@wsymphony this is my moms profil;e dont reply austin was is a bigger superstar than hulk im sumwhat a hulkamainac but im an attiude era fan without stone cold there would be no wwe any more just wcw which at its best was crap
@wsymphony bull shit austin never wanted to have this match because he did not want to become paralized he knows when his time is up, he moved along. its a young mans game now. it should be. hogan put wwe on the map stone cold took it so much farther. vince even said it himself that austin drew more money than hogan. therefore, austin is a bigger star end of story.
@wsymphony dont be a fool austin is still bigger than hogan !!! dont get me wrong hogan did great stuff for pro wrestling but austin took it to a whole other level!!!
You cant compare Austin to Hogan if you take their careers as a whole. Hogan is on a totally different level. You say Austin took wrestling to a whole new level? I think you have it the wrong way around. No one has had more influence on wresting than Hogan.
@alin1975 glad u cleared that up for me ill tell vince that even he is wrong cause u said so, after all he doesnt know anything about his company :) !!! dude the amount of success austin had no individual had !!
Hogan is generally considered as the single most influential wrestler for brining the sport out of obscurity. In the 80s he was popular in a way no other wrestler has ever been - also outside of wrestling circles. The man had God status, there is simply no comparison between those two.
@alin1975 if u must educate, educate properly .... wwe any wrestling company pumped more money out of austin in 5 years than hogan in all his career !!! let alone how much they make off him still after he aint wrestled properly for almost a decade !!!, u still hear the what chants .... what hogan chants u hear ? errr oh yeh none .... please sir u are mistaken :P
I would love to see that statistic (modified for inflation).
Not to mention that Hogan was the one chosen to bring the wwf into the mainstream, enabling everything that followed.
But you know, I lived through that 80s period. And to hear you tell me that Austin was more popular in his peak than Hogan was in his, borders on the absurd. You have no idea how huge he was back then. Even his wwe profile calls him "arguably the most famous WWE Superstar of all time."
@alin1975 on youtube itself u find vince, cena, the rock among others saying austin is bigger vince said it on live interview/Q program off the record, cena said the same, now austin made wwe more money than any other superstar to date, the one that comes close is actually cena with all his pg shit !!! now are u smarter than the boss of the wwe? and know more than the top superstars there ? if ur saying yes ur just being ignorant and basing ur argument on heart rather than thought/facts !!
@alin1975 you know wats funny too, hogan wants to fight austin but austin thinks if he is going to fight again he doesnt want to do it against a washed up superstar :S sucks to be hogan :P
What I asked of you was the statistics of how he made more money in 5 years than Hogans entire career (and are you counting WCW here?). And, you talk of raw income, but you are choosing to ignore Hogan's primary contribution - taking wrestling to the big stage.
And its not a question of being smarter, its a question of realising that Hogan and Vince have fallen out with each other many times and been competitors, and that Vince picks his words carefully depending on his motives.
Heart has nothing to do with this. What Hogan did for wrestling and his insane popularity and recognisability both within wrestling circles and outside them, makes him a more important wrestler.
And do remember that he is some 11 years older. Lets see how popular Austin will be in 2022, because so far Hulk is doing pretty darned well.
But I didnt realise until your last remark that Austin is your little hero. I never meant to hurt your feelings, sorry about that :)
@alin1975 with ur resorting to insults i know i've won the argument !! i have the boss', athletes and austin saying it yet u got nothing !! look up hogans own comment at how a match with austin would take his career to another level ... thats HOGAN saying it!!! i will not bother replying to another silly abusive comment unless u can back ur argument cause it would be like arguing with a 5 year old ..."no mine is better cause ur fat" and i aint doing that loool
Just giving you a taste of your own medicine. I did not expect you to get it, but if you do read this, just go and have another look at your previous post.
As for Hogan's current career... yes, it would boost his career, now some 20 years after its peak. No argument here, the man is old.
This does not change the fact that in his day he was more popular and more important to wrestling. I even showed you the line from WWE's own website.
@alin1975 at no point did i insult because i didnt need to ... you keep stating yet provide nothing .... i tried linking it here but it wont let me however all you literally got to do is write hogan vs austin cena or vince or whoever ... your argument is based on the fact that if u say it enough maybe the fairies will make it true at least i can back up was im saying... in a uni degree references are the difference between a 1st and a 2.2 ... yes hogan was big but austin made more money for wwe!
You know full well your last post was meant to provoke, otherwise you would not have made such an absurd comment like "sucks to be hogan :P"... Now, I upped the stakes a bit to yank your chain.
The argument was not about who made the most money - and certainly not without accounting for inflation and so on - it was about who was the most important and the most popular. In this respect, Hogan was greater and far more important to wrestling
@alin1975 lol this argument is funny ! the goat is probably taker or michaels but if we talking bout who makes the most or has made the biggest impact austin then hogan then cena
Yes the argument was always about who made the most impact... and needless to say I disagree with your position. More than that, I find it somewhat divorced from reality. I am going to guess you werent around in the Hogan era...
@alin1975 its funny that everyone or most agree with my pov yet u seem to bak urs to death like hogan is almost dead lol still trying to wrestle he should have gone out on top maybe then we would remember the great hulk not the one now who is slow and can hardly do anything shame some athletes dont know when to stop
@muffinpunk1 hogan made the bigger impact because he came along at a time when you could get away with being horrible in the ring if you had a good gimmick. Austin better and had a huge impact on pro wrestling. However, the era he came along in was a little bit different. Wrestling was already mainstream. He just proved he was one of the best to ever do it.
@rnjblast773 We're talking sports entertainment, hogan built his reputation, not from the rocky movie, but from body slamming Andre the giant in 1979!The wrestling world took notice, then when hogan starred in Rocky,he catapulted the sports entertainment to levels above the atmosphere.Austin only profited from what hogan already created, not mccmahon, but hogan was the one who played thunderlips in Rocky,Vnce was still takng orders from his father! Austin was only link in the hogan chain.
@SWO4LIFE2 Have you seen austin prior to summerslam 97? have you even seen austin v beniot in 2000? Before you let some stupid shit like that creep into your mind do yourself a favor, do some research.
@alin1975 oh and if ur saying it would do great to his career to step in with austin then ur admitting austin atm is bigger which is my original point ... (greatest superstars of all time wwedotcom), type that into google seeing as its from them direct click on the very first or any ... austin ranked 3rd hogan ranked 23rd .....
Read it, it explains everything I was trying to say about Vince's savy way of picking his words. Like he was going to rank Hogan (or Flair) first when he is with TNA... yeah right.
And the argument was never about "atm". If that's your point, I retract everything and you win. My point was Hogan is the greatest overall.
@Gibno10 .You're a fool and a little dumb.Austin only drew more money because he had the internet for the marketing of his products and his promotions.hogan wasnt able to enjoy the same pleasures of selling in that fashion.. But remember this, hogan put wrestling in the living rooms of all the industrialized nations of the world.Austin was only a chapter in the book that hogan published.Hope that clears it up for another foolish attitude fan. Austin= 8 yrs. .hogan=4 decades and still active!
@gota1respect You're a fool and a little dumb.Austin only drew more money because he had the internet for the marketing of his products and his promotions.hogan wasnt able to enjoy the same pleasures of selling in that fashion.. But remember this, hogan put wrestling in the living rooms of all the industrialized nations of the world.Austin was only a chapter in the book that hogan published.Hope that clears it up for another foolish attitude fan. Austin= 8 yrs. .hogan=4 decades and still active!
@TheDc316 .Hogan made it much easier by getting the ball rolling first,my son! Also Austin had the pleasures of profiting from the internet when he peaked whereas hogan didn;t have that career enhancing ad media called the INTERNET! fool! Hogan is the book, austing was the best chapter of the book.lesson is now over,my son!
@fadethetrade Internet? austin? you gotta be kidding me man. In any case, Austin Won WWf the war when they were up againt Hogan in WCW. When hogan was at the top WWf didn't have competition. WC was winning with hogan. Austin came in and broke most of hogan's record and Vince bought WCW. That is ALL!
@TheDc316 And to correct yo on your second statement.Hogan made his debut 1979,he exploded wrestling to new dimensional heights as early as 82 in the Rocky movie,Hulkamania was already born and he made his first millions from selling and world wide endorcements in just 3 yrs.Yo need to study history more,my son!
Hogan in 1984 after winning the title was more popular then Austin was..Hogan brought wrestling to ALL the industrialized nations of the world, into their living rooms.Austin only helped mccmahon on the brink of bancruptsy thanks to the boring HBK and diesel, needed to create the "lude" era not the "attitude" era because along with austins character, came hot asses from woman. This entire era needed aspects of each of these characters to amplify the other characters including austin.
@fadethetrade WOAH WOAH WOAH Austin Shattered records that Hogan set. Shattered whatever the records and numbers were he destroyed them. He brought more money in the company then anyone else. "Austin 3:16" Franchise is the biggest in the companys history. Austin saved WWF and in fact was a way better wrestler then Hogan. And way more popular hense the Nickname "THE MOST POPULAR SUPERSTAR OF ALL TIME".
@PsychosamaticLP You need to look at this more in a business frame of mind.Hogan didnt have the internet to promote him and his products when he was on top for 15 years.Austin had the priviledge of internet access marketing ,exposure, you name it,he had it.Hogan would outsource him in a minute and dont forget austin supplemented the "Lewd era" that vince created to save his ass .Austins character fit perfect in the lewd era thus made him more popular along with internet promos
@PsychosamaticLP AND NEVER FORGET IF THEY FOUGHT,IF HOGAN GOT TO THE INFAMOUS "HULKING UP" FINALE,THE CROWD WOULD GO IN A FRENZY FOR HOGAN AND AUSTIN WOULD NEVER HEAR ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN HIS LIFE AS THE ROCK WAS BLOWN AWAY AND ACTUALLY CRIED AFTER THE MATCH WITH HOGAN BECAUSE HE REALIZED DEEP DOWN ,THIS IS THE REAL KING TO THE REAL WRESTLING FANS ACROSS THE GLOBE, EVEN IF THEY OUTSELL HIM.
@PsychosamaticLP The hulking up was the greatest finale in wrestling history casue it wasnt just a stunner or a peoples elbow,it consisted of a 5 part sequence which bilt on itself to a level frenzy not heard in entertainment history bro, forget wrestling, nothing in sprts history compared to that frenzy of the crowd.Thats what its ALL ABOUT!
@fadethetrade Lou Thesz put more wrestling on Television than Hogan, and Gorgeous George put Thesz to shame. Hogan made the WWF big outside New York, that's all he did though. And to be honest, he didn't do that good a job of it.
@brocklock09 Hogan made the WWF big outside New York, that's all he did though - WRONG! he put it in the living rooms of all the industrialized nations of the world.Thats world wide exposure.DUH! And to be honest,he didnt do that good a job of it. - are you smoking rocks bro???? Honestly!
@fadethetrade You know nothing of Pro Wrestling history, clearly. Wrestling was big all over the world before Hogan. Wrestling was on TV in industrialized nations before Hogan. Hogan made the WWF as big outside New York as it was inside the territory, but he didn't do a very good job due to the rather poor house shows they'd do when running in NWA territory. Hulk was big, no doubt about it, but he wasn't the be all end all people like you paint him to be.
@wsymphony Absolutely true. Austin had already seen what happened when the Rock (who was just as big as Austin in his prime) went against Hogan and had the crowd turn on him. He wanted no part of that. Take it from someone who has been watching pro wrestling since the late 70s... Hogan is and was the biggest name of them all. He carried all of pro wrestling on his back and blazed the trail that all these other ham-n-eggers are still following today.
@RAV52 austin never gave a fuck about the crowed turning on him, that was never the problem. The problem austin wasn't gonna job or even sell shit for hogan. Remember austin was one of the guys that got shitted on in wcw do to hogan's political games. Rock had no personal issues with the man, and neither did michaels (even though he didn't want to do the job to hogan either. Austin actually did.
@RAV52 Not really because vince did the same type of shit to a lot of guys at that time. The ones who came back to him with better ideas or better versions of the characters changed there gimmick the rest well.............. Plus austin and pillman were wildly successful in wcw as a tag team. But certain guys at the top of the card saw that and decided right when they were in there prime in at hot rivalry with the horsemen to split them up. Which ended with both getting fired.
@rnjblast773 Yeah, I remember that stuff. I was a regular at the Baltimore Civic Center/Arena each month from 1983-1999 for both the WWF shows and the NWA/WCW/AWA shows... The Hollywood Blonds were sick... Loved it when Stone Cold and Pillman pulled off the handgun/home invasion angle on RAW...
@PsychosamaticLp Hogan faced everyone in the game except for John Cena only because hes too old. Since you want to name drop I have a list too Bret,Shawn,Hunter,Taker,Rock,Randy,DDP,Ric,Sting,Macho,Lex,Big Show, and one guy Austin was too afraid to face Goldberg. Yeah I said Goldberg Austin knew that the spear would have crippled him so thats why he never went one on one with him.
I lost alot of fanfare for Austin after the Goldberg vs Lesnar match. Everyone knows that they both would crumble Austin like an old piece of rotted wood.
@socalkev Um......hell no. Brian Pillman was a piece of shit and the only time i enjoyed watching him was when Austin kicked his ass backstage and stuffed his ugly raspy-voiced face in the toilet and proceeded to flush it.
It was meant to be Austin vs Hogan at wrestlemania X8 but austin was unhappy about booked in the match to lose and Hogan told mcmahon the same thing so it was re-billed Rock vs Hogan
Woah steveable ? Hogan in his prime ? Lets talk about austins prime. Wcw days and ecw days austin was on point and would of destroyed hulk. If it wasnt for owen he'd be in the ring lets face it hulk is too scared to get boo'd. He had one memorable match. WM3 against andre. Austin had. Shawn. Bret. Rock. Triple undertaker rakishi even when he did that invasion shit he was still loved and had thw biggest come back in wwf history in 2001. every moment was gold with austin. 3:16 is the biggest fran
Austin last match was in WM19 the reason for that being is that he doesn't think he has another "GOOD" match in him. He even thought that the match he had at WM19 might even suck due to his health conditions. I'm pretty no matte what happens he will never wrestle anyone again which is a good thing.
Lets face it. IT WOULD BE THE MOST BORING MATCH EVER! Would they lock up to start or would Austin just boot him in the gut to start? OK then what? THATS why it never happened. Vince knew it would get farted on!
The problem with an Austin-Hogan match, which people probably have mentioned countless times, is that it'd probably be extremely difficult to come up with a winner. Hogan, whether he wants to admit it or not, sees Austin as the bigger star and can only see his "loss" to Austin further build that rep. I wouldn't care who won to be honest, I'd just prefer it to be a good, lengthy, and entertaining match with a clean win.
hulk hogan sucks. he is a no talent hack who frauded his way to the top of the wwf. gorilla monsoon said so himself. hulk is nowhere in the same league as austin. the match would been a joke, austin would have mopped the floor with hogan's ugly, wrinkled up old face
Austin vs hogan would be so much more exciting then Rock vs Cena... It's a shame we will never see Austin/Hogan... But Rock and Cena should be exciting if rock could get back to wrestling shape....
@2PaoloPaolo Yeah, but the biggest problem with Austin was his neck injury not his conditioning. He never fully recovered from that. He's fortunate to be walking.
@LastTrumpets7 um actually if u are a Steve Austin fan, u would have known by now that Stone Cold himself stated in an interview that his neck was 100%, he would be more than happy to wrestle one more match, and he could do a full-time schedule for about another 2 good years. he just decided that he was happy with where he was at in life and wanted to hunt and fish and do the things he loved pain-free.
Yea, Austin's neck is "100 percent" because he isn't wrestling, haha.
The minute he started wrestling 2-5 times a week counting house shows, traveling everyday to different states and cities, his injuries would kick back in....only worse since he's older and wouldn't recover as fast. I don't know where you got that Austin said he'd wrestle one more match...he's said countless times that he will not ever have another match b/c it wouldn't live up to his expectations.
@rmccay88 yeah it may not live up to his expectations, but i think he knows how his injuries are. he said if he wanted to, he could do it. but he was happy with where he was at right now. so yes, i know what im talkin about. he DID say that in an interview. but i will agree with u regardless of how his neck is, cuz he is older it would not be like watching the old Stone Cold. i will give u that.
Hulk Hogan vs Stone Cold. The WWE Dream Match that never was. The two biggest names in WWE History. And by golly, what I wouldn't give to see the two climb into the ring together, for one more match. Just one more match. It'd be the Wrestlemania to end all Wrestlemania's.
WWE really blew it at WM18. SCSA/Hogan would have been better than Hogan/Rock for the simple fact that in terms of popularity Rock isnt up there with Hogan/Austin. Austin/Hogan r the 2 biggest names of all time in the WWE. Rock was a great replacement but thats not what the people wanted to see. Rock/Hogan had two very average matches together. The crowd booed the hell out of the Rock at WM18 and Hogan was the hell and Rock was face. Rock/Hogan isnt what the people wanted..it was Austin/Hogan
Hogan has the biggest ego of all time. Hogan never wanted to lose a match fair and square. HBK was set to win the match against Hogan in 2005 but Hogan was having none of it so HBK being the guy he was agreed to lose. Hogan lost to the Rock but he didnt feel as though Rock was a big of threat to his legacy as Austin. Hogan is 63 years old and Austin hasnt wrestled in 8 years, the match would be horrible especially with Hogan not selling moves properly
Hogan agreed to lose to the Rock cleanly at WM18 as a "fuck you" to Austin. Hogan is not that great of an in ring competitor. He gets lots of credit for carrying the WWF in the 80s but what Stone Cold was able to do in just a 5 year run between 1998-2003 is amazing. Hogan only agreed to lose to the Rock because he felt as though losing to the Rock wouldnt damage his reputation as much as losing to Austin would since many believe Austin had replaced Hogan as the best of all time
Hogan is one of the worst wrestlers of all time. He is a horrible performer, he doesnt sell moves properly beause the last thing he wants is to make his opponent look good. Anybody remember HBK vs Hogan in 2005, or Hogan vs Undertaker in 2002. Hogan vs Austin was supposed to happen but Hogan didnt want to lose cleanly to Austin he wanted Austin to win by cheating or by having NWO come out to hit Austin but then hit Hogan by accident.
And too bad, Austin vs Hogan would have been the very defining moment of the Attitude era or should I say, the whole wrestling industry. It could have been the match that will bridge the Classic era and Attitude Era together.
I would pay to go there even if I'm from an another country right now, I would fly there just to witness that spectacle.
The Babe Ruth of the WWE? Then Stone Cold Steve Austin is The Beatles of the WWE. Both Beatles and Austin didn't have the longest runs on top but they had the most impactful runs. More money made in a few years than any other contemporary would've made in their entire lifetimes.
@Mr1131988 This is a sorry-assed comparison, Hogan's golden era didn't have access to widespread internet, hasn't been adjusted for inflation, and didn't have a weekly RAW airing on a huge cable network to expose him to the viewing public weekly, all he had were some promos on Superstars, Tuesday Night Titans, etc. You adjust for inflation alone(basically, since their peaks were about 12 years apart, 3.3% inflation average, you're looking at 39-40%), and right there, Hogan wins, case closed.
See honestly Hogan is stupid for not facing cena at mania.Whether he jobbed or not I guarantee that that match would have drew big numbers and would have given Hogan the pay day he needs after going through all the legal stuff with his ex wife Linda.Because TNA sure as hell couldn't give him that kind of payday.
@Brockthepain There other things more important than just a big payday. TNA treats him better and pays him a decent amount. He lost his family and fortune. The last thing he needed was to lose the remaining shred of dignity he had left by losing to John Cena... oh my God, just makes me puke thinking of it.
that match will NEVER happen... and there is one simple reason for that.... Austin who`s in shape to wrestle would never step into ring again to wrestle a shitty performer like Hogan... who hasn`t had a decent performance since the eraly 90s...
i mean please Hogan even has stipulations on his contracts that he doesn`t take backdrops, suplexes, etc... his knees and back have been broken down for years and years, he`s still good as a talker but he has no bussiness wrestling anymore...
@adamfuckinknowsit It's not about being dumb, it's about percieving reality the way you wish to or select to, do you know that EVERYTHING you see on tv is Selected for you? Especially news? Because you can't be that dumb to believe it's actually what really goes on and nothing else right? Nah bro, they ain't stupid, as you aren't stupid to trust The Man. You've heard it's fake but have you ever been in a pro-wrestiling ring? I'm guessing no...
@adamfuckinknowsit A T.V. series is fake. So are movies. Why is it when it comes to Sports Entertainment, fans are insulted for arguing about the storylines?
Hogan should never have went to TNA.WWE is his home.Hogan is a legend who put asses in seats and deserves a proper retirement in WWE.that why its a shame him vs cena at mania 25 didn't happen.Like cena or not like hogan or not one thing is for sure it would have put asses in seats.

@godofwarrocksman Hogan would never let him win. it was in the works but Hogan said he refused to lose to him.
PsychosamaticLP 3 days ago
@PsychosamaticLP They should have agreed to a draw.Someone was a dickhead in those negotiations.Judging from hogan jobbing out to everyone in 2002 after wonning the belt from triple H,it was probably austin that was being the big dick in negotiations. You have to be a little jealous of hogan being in austins shoes because theres a possibility no matter how popular austin was or is,he may never get out od hogans shadow as the real mr wrestling in history.
fadethetrade 2 days ago
@PsychosamaticLP I figure hogan wanted that finale and austin didnt want the hulking up because it plays into hogans credit more.SHould have compromised as the Rock did but if the rock knew what would happen in toronto with history being made, a heel is cheered on against the most popular wrestler at that time,he would't have agreed on the hulking up either. You cant touch this aspect of hogan. As he said,"its not vinces world when Im out there, its my world and no one can do anything about it"
fadethetrade 2 days ago
@PsychosamaticLP Alot like the gladiator.Austin was the Maximus of his period, the greatest gladiator but Hogan was the Hercules of mythology.A little more profound status thruout the 4 decades he wrestled.Austin barely made it 8 years ,hogan only needed back street local cable stations to start and grew into a world phenomenon, the beginning of the chain of entertainment wrestling started with HOGAN,Austin is a link in the original hogan chain.Hope this clears it up a little more for you..

fadethetrade 1 month ago
@nightotter54 You know what, I have a perfectly well-though out response, but I think I'll save my effort. I'll simply say that TNA makes everyone suck, and that Austin has stated that he's perfectly healthy enough to step back in, but just doesn't want to.
inatspong 1 month ago

Shit, that old motherfucker is still wrestling!!!
rapinbatches 3 months ago
The numbers dont lie. Austin broke all of Hogan's records for ratings, merchandise, popularity and more.
deion152002 3 months ago
@deion152002 well the Hogan/andre rematch in 88 drew higher ratings than austin ever did, and o agree on sales, but Hogan's popularity lasted throughout the 80's to the 90's.. and austin became a top draw in 98-01...in 2002 u can tell his pop wasnt as big as it was years ago
Allapattahgoon 3 months ago
@Allapattahgoon Yea kno doubt Hogans 88 drew more ratings, but if your going by popularity stone cold remains still the top guy in the industry. 2002 was when he left the wwe for seven months before returning to wwe in 03, and that was only after he was a heel in 2001 after wrestlemania with the rock. Even still he was voted best wrestler of the decade and did you hear the pop he got when he returned compared to hulk hogans debut in TNA, Not even a comparison

@wsymphony dont be a fool austin is still bigger than hogan !!! dont get me wrong hogan did great stuff for pro wrestling but austin took it to a whole other level!!!
Gibno10 6 months ago
@Gibno10
Wtf??
You cant compare Austin to Hogan if you take their careers as a whole. Hogan is on a totally different level. You say Austin took wrestling to a whole new level? I think you have it the wrong way around. No one has had more influence on wresting than Hogan.
alin1975 6 months ago
@alin1975 glad u cleared that up for me ill tell vince that even he is wrong cause u said so, after all he doesnt know anything about his company :) !!! dude the amount of success austin had no individual had !!
Gibno10 6 months ago
@Gibno10
My pleasure. Always happy to educate.
Hogan is generally considered as the single most influential wrestler for brining the sport out of obscurity. In the 80s he was popular in a way no other wrestler has ever been - also outside of wrestling circles. The man had God status, there is simply no comparison between those two.
alin1975 6 months ago
@alin1975 if u must educate, educate properly .... wwe any wrestling company pumped more money out of austin in 5 years than hogan in all his career !!! let alone how much they make off him still after he aint wrestled properly for almost a decade !!!, u still hear the what chants .... what hogan chants u hear ? errr oh yeh none .... please sir u are mistaken :P
Gibno10 6 months ago
@Gibno10
Even his wwe profile calls him "arguably the most famous WWE Superstar of all time."
alin1975 6 months ago
@alin1975 on youtube itself u find vince, cena, the rock among others saying austin is bigger vince said it on live interview/Q program off the record, cena said the same, now austin made wwe more money than any other superstar to date, the one that comes close is actually cena with all his pg shit !!! now are u smarter than the boss of the wwe? and know more than the top superstars there ? if ur saying yes ur just being ignorant and basing ur argument on heart rather than thought/facts !!
Gibno10 6 months ago
@alin1975 you know wats funny too, hogan wants to fight austin but austin thinks if he is going to fight again he doesnt want to do it against a washed up superstar :S sucks to be hogan :P
Gibno10 6 months ago
@Gibno10
What I asked of you was the statistics of how he made more money in 5 years than Hogans entire career (and are you counting WCW here?). And, you talk of raw income, but you are choosing to ignore Hogan's primary contribution - taking wrestling to the big stage.
And its not a question of being smarter, its a question of realising that Hogan and Vince have fallen out with each other many times and been competitors, and that Vince picks his words carefully depending on his motives.
alin1975 6 months ago
@Gibno10
I never meant to hurt your feelings, sorry about that :)
alin1975 6 months ago
@alin1975 with ur resorting to insults i know i've won the argument !! i have the boss', athletes and austin saying it yet u got nothing !! look up hogans own comment at how a match with austin would take his career to another level ... thats HOGAN saying it!!! i will not bother replying to another silly abusive comment unless u can back ur argument cause it would be like arguing with a 5 year old ..."no mine is better cause ur fat" and i aint doing that loool
Gibno10 6 months ago
@Gibno10
So, run if you like, its fine by me :)
alin1975 6 months ago
@alin1975 at no point did i insult because i didnt need to ... you keep stating yet provide nothing .... i tried linking it here but it wont let me however all you literally got to do is write hogan vs austin cena or vince or whoever ... your argument is based on the fact that if u say it enough maybe the fairies will make it true at least i can back up was im saying... in a uni degree references are the difference between a 1st and a 2.2 ... yes hogan was big but austin made more money for wwe!
Gibno10 6 months ago
@Gibno10
Ah, you are back :) What a surprise.
In this respect, Hogan was greater and far more important to wrestling
alin1975 6 months ago
@alin1975 lol this argument is funny ! the goat is probably taker or michaels but if we talking bout who makes the most or has made the biggest impact austin then hogan then cena

And way more popular hense the Nickname "THE MOST POPULAR SUPERSTAR OF ALL TIME".
PsychosamaticLP 3 days ago
@PsychosamaticLP You need to look at this more in a business frame of mind.Hogan didnt have the internet to promote him and his products when he was on top for 15 years.Austin had the priviledge of internet access marketing ,exposure, you name it,he had it.Hogan would outsource him in a minute and dont forget austin supplemented the "Lewd era" that vince created to save his ass .Austins character fit perfect in the lewd era thus made him more popular along with internet promos

Hulk was big, no doubt about it, but he wasn't the be all end all people like you paint him to be.
brocklock09 1 month ago
@wsymphony Absolutely true. Austin had already seen what happened when the Rock (who was just as big as Austin in his prime) went against Hogan and had the crowd turn on him. He wanted no part of that. Take it from someone who has been watching pro wrestling since the late 70s... Hogan is and was the biggest name of them all. He carried all of pro wrestling on his back and blazed the trail that all these other ham-n-eggers are still following today.
RAV52 5 months ago
@RAV52 austin never gave a fuck about the crowed turning on him, that was never the problem. The problem austin wasn't gonna job or even sell shit for hogan. Remember austin was one of the guys that got shitted on in wcw do to hogan's political games. Rock had no personal issues with the man, and neither did michaels (even though he didn't want to do the job to hogan either. Austin actually did.
rnjblast773 5 months ago
@rnjblast773 If anything, Austin should've been mad at Vince for that stupid RingMaster gimmick!
RAV52 5 months ago
@RAV52 Not really because vince did the same type of shit to a lot of guys at that time. The ones who came back to him with better ideas or better versions of the characters changed there gimmick the rest well.............. Plus austin and pillman were wildly successful in wcw as a tag team. But certain guys at the top of the card saw that and decided right when they were in there prime in at hot rivalry with the horsemen to split them up. Which ended with both getting fired.
rnjblast773 5 months ago
@rnjblast773 Yeah, I remember that stuff. I was a regular at the Baltimore Civic Center/Arena each month from 1983-1999 for both the WWF shows and the NWA/WCW/AWA shows... The Hollywood Blonds were sick... Loved it when Stone Cold and Pillman pulled off the handgun/home invasion angle on RAW...
RAV52 5 months ago
@PsychosamaticLp Hogan faced everyone in the game except for John Cena only because hes too old. Since you want to name drop I have a list too Bret,Shawn,Hunter,Taker,Rock,Randy,DDP,Ric,Sting,Macho,Lex,Big Show, and one guy Austin was too afraid to face Goldberg. Yeah I said Goldberg Austin knew that the spear would have crippled him so thats why he never went one on one with him.
lannysizzle13 7 months ago
I lost alot of fanfare for Austin after the Goldberg vs Lesnar match. Everyone knows that they both would crumble Austin like an old piece of rotted wood.
lannysizzle13 7 months ago
@socalkev Um......hell no. Brian Pillman was a piece of shit and the only time i enjoyed watching him was when Austin kicked his ass backstage and stuffed his ugly raspy-voiced face in the toilet and proceeded to flush it.
Blackflame24 7 months ago
It was meant to be Austin vs Hogan at wrestlemania X8 but austin was unhappy about booked in the match to lose and Hogan told mcmahon the same thing so it was re-billed Rock vs Hogan

yd he mention fighting stone cold if he never did lol. hes a gud wrestler but stone cold whoope his ass
brannenoliv 7 months ago
Woah steveable ? Hogan in his prime ? Lets talk about austins prime. Wcw days and ecw days austin was on point and would of destroyed hulk. If it wasnt for owen he'd be in the ring lets face it hulk is too scared to get boo'd. He had one memorable match. WM3 against andre. Austin had. Shawn. Bret. Rock. Triple undertaker rakishi even when he did that invasion shit he was still loved and had thw biggest come back in wwf history in 2001. every moment was gold with austin. 3:16 is the biggest fran
PsychosamaticLP 7 months ago 2
Austin last match was in WM19 the reason for that being is that he doesn't think he has another "GOOD" match in him. He even thought that the match he had at WM19 might even suck due to his health conditions. I'm pretty no matte what happens he will never wrestle anyone again which is a good thing.
MrSaywhatwhat 7 months ago

Taki4life 7 months ago 4
@Taki4life OH YEAH WITH BOTH IN THEIR PRIME THAT WOULD BE MATCH OF THE YEAR..NO MATCH OF THE DECADE QUALITY
TheChainGang1993 6 months ago
@TheChainGang1993 Neither Hulk, nor Stone Cold have been in their 'prime' since the late-90's.
ivonneruns 6 months ago
hulk hogan sucks. he is a no talent hack who frauded his way to the top of the wwf. gorilla monsoon said so himself. hulk is nowhere in the same league as austin. the match would been a joke, austin would have mopped the floor with hogan's ugly, wrinkled up old face
Deanobucko917 7 months ago
@Deanobucko917 stop bein a hater on hulk hogan...nigga got more talent than john cena so shut the fuck up
MrGinjiAmano 7 months ago
Austin vs hogan would be so much more exciting then Rock vs Cena... It's a shame we will never see Austin/Hogan... But Rock and Cena should be exciting if rock could get back to wrestling shape....
2PaoloPaolo 7 months ago 2
@2PaoloPaolo Yeah, but the biggest problem with Austin was his neck injury not his conditioning. He never fully recovered from that. He's fortunate to be walking.
LastTrumpets7 7 months ago
@LastTrumpets7 um actually if u are a Steve Austin fan, u would have known by now that Stone Cold himself stated in an interview that his neck was 100%, he would be more than happy to wrestle one more match, and he could do a full-time schedule for about another 2 good years. he just decided that he was happy with where he was at in life and wanted to hunt and fish and do the things he loved pain-free.
Blackflame24 7 months ago
@Blackflame24
Yea, Austin's neck is "100 percent" because he isn't wrestling, haha.
The minute he started wrestling 2-5 times a week counting house shows, traveling everyday to different states and cities, his injuries would kick back in....only worse since he's older and wouldn't recover as fast. I don't know where you got that Austin said he'd wrestle one more match...he's said countless times that he will not ever have another match b/c it wouldn't live up to his expectations.
rmccay88 7 months ago

They were supposed to wrestle at WM 18 but of course ego's got in the way and they couldn't agree on an outcome. SMH.
someperson111 8 months ago
WWE really blew it at WM18. SCSA/Hogan would have been better than Hogan/Rock for the simple fact that in terms of popularity Rock isnt up there with Hogan/Austin. Austin/Hogan r the 2 biggest names of all time in the WWE. Rock was a great replacement but thats not what the people wanted to see. Rock/Hogan had two very average matches together. The crowd booed the hell out of the Rock at WM18 and Hogan was the hell and Rock was face. Rock/Hogan isnt what the people wanted..it was Austin/Hogan
surprisinigly1 8 months ago
Hogan has the biggest ego of all time. Hogan never wanted to lose a match fair and square. HBK was set to win the match against Hogan in 2005 but Hogan was having none of it so HBK being the guy he was agreed to lose. Hogan lost to the Rock but he didnt feel as though Rock was a big of threat to his legacy as Austin. Hogan is 63 years old and Austin hasnt wrestled in 8 years, the match would be horrible especially with Hogan not selling moves properly
ExampleO19 8 months ago
Hogan agreed to lose to the Rock cleanly at WM18 as a "fuck you" to Austin. Hogan is not that great of an in ring competitor. He gets lots of credit for carrying the WWF in the 80s but what Stone Cold was able to do in just a 5 year run between 1998-2003 is amazing. Hogan only agreed to lose to the Rock because he felt as though losing to the Rock wouldnt damage his reputation as much as losing to Austin would since many believe Austin had replaced Hogan as the best of all time
FTVVEVERYONE 8 months ago
Hogan is one of the worst wrestlers of all time. He is a horrible performer, he doesnt sell moves properly beause the last thing he wants is to make his opponent look good. Anybody remember HBK vs Hogan in 2005, or Hogan vs Undertaker in 2002. Hogan vs Austin was supposed to happen but Hogan didnt want to lose cleanly to Austin he wanted Austin to win by cheating or by having NWO come out to hit Austin but then hit Hogan by accident.

so what happened then?

Good ol' Hogan in this vid.
And too bad, Austin vs Hogan would have been the very defining moment of the Attitude era or should I say, the whole wrestling industry. It could have been the match that will bridge the Classic era and Attitude Era together.
I would pay to go there even if I'm from an another country right now, I would fly there just to witness that spectacle.
too bad it never did. too bad.
braigus09 8 months ago
The Babe Ruth of the WWE? Then Stone Cold Steve Austin is The Beatles of the WWE. Both Beatles and Austin didn't have the longest runs on top but they had the most impactful runs. More money made in a few years than any other contemporary would've made in their entire lifetimes.
Mr1131988 8 months ago

Brockthepain 8 months ago
@Brockthepain There other things more important than just a big payday. TNA treats him better and pays him a decent amount. He lost his family and fortune. The last thing he needed was to lose the remaining shred of dignity he had left by losing to John Cena... oh my God, just makes me puke thinking of it.
Mr1131988 8 months ago
that match will NEVER happen... and there is one simple reason for that....

Do people know wrestling is fake? They way they talk about it is scaring me because people can't be that dumb can they?
adamfuckinknowsit 8 months ago
@adamfuckinknowsit It's not about being dumb, it's about percieving reality the way you wish to or select to, do you know that EVERYTHING you see on tv is Selected for you? Especially news? Because you can't be that dumb to believe it's actually what really goes on and nothing else right? Nah bro, they ain't stupid, as you aren't stupid to trust The Man. You've heard it's fake but have you ever been in a pro-wrestiling ring? I'm guessing no...
ThisEarth 8 months ago
@adamfuckinknowsit A T.V. series is fake. So are movies. Why is it when it comes to Sports Entertainment, fans are insulted for arguing about the storylines?
Mr1131988 8 months ago
So there was no response to that challenge? :-P
rogertayloRRR 8 months ago
Hogan should never have went to TNA.WWE is his home.Hogan is a legend who put asses in seats and deserves a proper retirement in WWE.that why its a shame him vs cena at mania 25 didn't happen.Like cena or not like hogan or not one thing is for sure it would have put asses in seats.
