@srs955 drama in a novel and drama on screen follows slightly different rules. That's why they call it an "adaptation". Often, things that work in a novel don't work so well in Film/TV. TV is episodic, for one, with multiple acts, with elements of dramatic progression that only work in a certain way. Otherwise, all movies/TV shows would just follow the novels to a T. It's bad writing to let your characters be satisfied and in love in THE MIDDLE of the story. It just goes wah-wah-waaaah *splat*
