    Oh sheesh, I just realized this is Sawyer, as in Sawyer 2005, who wrote 'Social Emergence' -- wow, awesome, found his book in the library as a soph in college and was one of the first to interest me in complexity, emergence, the mirco-marco split, upward/downward causality, etc.  nniiccee.
