how would you do it with the ribs on the outside? i kinda like the way they look on the outside and it seems to give more room on the inside. im just curious how you would make the cow hitch (i think thats what it is ) with it the way i said

WOW this is amazing!! Can you use any kind of rope? Does the rope (I'll use) have to be as small as yours?
How long do you think it would take me to make a beach bag (regular size)? What is the length of the rope i'll need? And finally, how many ribs will i need start out?
@luxurycookies i dont think it will have to be as small, it might just be bulkier. and for a 10in beach bag, you will probably need 125 feet of rope and around 12-15 ribs.

i made one its cool and i made a bracelet and cool stuff check out my channal i skate and bike so i desided to do this to so im making a vid on my paracord stuff my basket is made of 550 paracord not rope
man this is awesome...in the end i was able to put my fist into my finished basket...i used polypropylene diamond braided rope from walmart (same size as your rope) and ended up too short to complete the rest of the loop area so i literally cut another piece and burned them together and its super strong and hasnt broken (hopefully it will never break) thanks for the tutorial and have a merry christmas ^_^ if you like id be glad to sho pix of it in a quick vid
@TyingItAllTogether When the initial 5 slipknots are made, are they all alternating counterclockwise and clockwise. And do you need to have an odd number of slipknots? Also, will the basket easily unravel iff rope is needed?
"... as you continue forward, you'll start to see the appearance of a starfish forming. This is a sign that things are moving along..." swimmingly!!! HAHA LOL
Is it possible that when you start constructing the basket after the 5 loops that you leave the bottom open and keep the same length on the sides all the way up? Im trying to come up with a cylinder shape with openings on both top and bottom.. If I don't invert it will it change the structural aspects or is that step just to put the smooth side out?
Hi JD,First of all, thank you for the instructions, they are really cool.I have 2 questions that I can't seem to find the answers to: 1.How can I make a bracelet out of the Solomon Bar? 2. Where can I find your instruction book to purchase? Thanks!
@TyingItAllTogether The construction looks perfect for my intended use, which is a pouch to hold Runes. Perhaps I have misjudged the rope's diameter? 5/16th is thicker than the paracord correct?
thank you so much for sharing your knowlage! i made your honey basket last weekend and gave it to my six year old son. he thinks it is so amazing that it is made from a single piece of uncut rope. i used 50 foot of 3/16 rope. he has shown it off at school now all his buddies want one too. again thank you. your videos are very clear and detailed it truly helps.

i wonder if it could be done with an ashley knot as the base... but then it would not have the honeycomb look. hmmm good food for thought and great video. ive learned so much from them.
WOW! This is amazing. SO, in essence, You could also keep the beginning flat and make a mat from it. I see a lot of versatility with this! Excellent work! Keep it up! And I can't wait for you to publish your book! Keep us informed of the progress and how you will be selling it! (inquiring minds want to know! LOL)
I work by day...tie and write by night (every night). I generate the videos and shoot photographs (cataloging my ties) on the weekends. It's a bit of an obsession. (smile)
I'm getting some paracord today for this but I think I might modify it a little. I want to weave some smaller diameter cord between the horizontal cords
3/16th is kind of big, for paracord i will need more to do about the same and why 10ft-inch, becuase the start takes up so much? Will start on this in a few minutes, very excited thank you bud!
10 feet is a (safe) approximation You could get away with about half as much for each inch of basket (as shown in the video). The actual amount of rope youll need is more so dependent on how high and wide you want your basket to be. The higher and wider the more rope you'll need.
@TyingItAllTogether of course, I assumed you used a shit load to start which is why the 10-1 ratio would make sense and man making this bitch out of paracord seemed like a good idea at first but then I had to go through and make sure there were no twists and tighten it up so this took a good hour to complete, thanks again for the video and next one I make i will probably add a few more loops and make it larger so there wont be as much slack between each loop.
wow....much easier (relative term) than I originally thought, also very unique you did an EXCELLENT job on this one!!!!!! 5 stars....cant wait to strap a few of these to my gear bags......
Now if i ever get trapped in the wild and need a mini basket, i just have to walk down to the store, get some string and make one...teehee

It would work great... (smile) Only I'd add more ribs when starting out (to help hold the basket's shape and better support the melon.

It will take you a little more time (to untwist the cords), but you could pull it off with paracord.

The engineering is solid, so you can size the basket up or down as you wish. If you give it a try, let me know.
