Always thought cutting the line was kinda ballsy .. woulda sure suck to 'get' sucked through the prop if the "all-stop" wasn't relayed through to engine compartment quite fast-enough ..
Well you have a lot of options: For example you can register in "Spotify" and listen to it as much as you like. Or you can just download the song using torrents. Another option is to use "YouTube Downloader" in order to download a Youtube video featuring the song. Then you can convert the video file to mp3 format with YouTube Downloader.
@Raymund925 in the movie its like a jet engine for water...its runs silent so american subs cant find/track the russian because his sub is silent he can run at full speed using his caterpillar drive. and the americans cant hear him so they cant find him.
No it isn't. It's magnetohydrodynamic propulsion, fancy name for using electromagnets to create very strong magnetic fields in saltwater. Because saltwater can form instantaneous dipole moments (since it has charged particles, i.e. dissolved salt in it) strong magnetic fields can move the water without any moving parts - hence, silent.
A jet engine works completely differently and depends on you being able to burn fuel in your intake fluid - it can't be done with water.
I was in the Navy on the USS Dallas when this movie was made. We were in the shipyard at the time, I believe they used the USS Houston for scenes like these.

@Raymund925 Magnetohydrodynamic-Strong magnetic fields induced in water with charged particles, like salt.
@TheNightrunner666 that's the book.

Great clip from a Great movie! The sub shot is cool but I love this clip because I was an SH-3 Sea King Helicopter crewman....
Red October was 1 of few movies displaying the Sea King, another is Final Countdown!
