I`m not even american,i`m norwegian. But i talked to a norwegian cop,at the U.S embassy, who stood outside with a crown vic. And i started talking to him, seeing as i am a total petrolhead, and he said that it was an old police-car,but they wished they could have the taxi-version because of its longer weelbase,or bigger doors.I don`t remember wich.
I agree...this video is totally inaccurate. Yellow cabs in NYC date back to the early 1900's. John Hertz introduced the yellow cab concept in Chicago and Albert Rockwell introduced yellow cabs to NYC.
and, the new york crown vic taxi, is not a police interceptor. they are built with extended rear doors. the checker is not from the 80's. and nobody wants that ugly new cab in their city.
The checker was manufactured from 1922 until 1982, so he is technically right. Also, in most other cities, taxis are not brand new P70/P72 Vics, they are indeed retired P71's.
Sorry, but video is totally inaccurate. Checker started making cabs in 1922. About 10 other American companies made purpose built taxis. Pennant, Moller, Paramount. Premier, Bauer, Yellow etc. were solely in the cab making business. Yellow cabs have been around about 85 years not 100. John Hertz first introduced the yellow cab concept.
the crown vic stick out as number one it is a Beautiful car it reps the cab world like it or not
