Thank you so much for this. I'm also new to biking and this is the first time my bike has been put away for a little over two weeks with all the ice and cold weather here in the UK. and my bike isnow doing this exact same thing. Gonna get a charger from my uncle so I can get going again. I dont think I can last much longr with out two wheels!!!!
Thanks, this is the exact same noise im getting from my bike, and I'm a newbie to biking, this video has been most helpful, thank fully I have a kick start also, so I'm not totally at a loss.
Very helpfull video! I wasnt sure if my battery was low on power or if there was some other problem with my bike. Made the exact same noise. havent had any battery problems before so thats why it wasnt totally obvious to me if the bikes starting problem was because of the battery or something else.
Just learned about battery tenders, I kept buyin those cheap batteries from Pep boys made in China. stored mine over winter and they would'nt take a charge when I came back. Should I take it out and bring inside in cold months? Also can anybody here reccomend a good quality battery? I also learned to use fuel stabiliser as Gas even premium breaks down to water. I don't ride much, I'am still learning Thanks Guys!!!
Hey thanks, was wondering if that sound was battery or something worse. I guess it's just bad timing i got in a wreck thought it was all cosmetics but feared the worse after hearing that sound. Now i know!
This video is pointless.. Anyone that has driven something with a motor that has a battery knows this. And if they don't... they really shouldn't own anything like that.
Thanks for posting this up, I have the same issue and so replaced the solenoid with a new one, but still got the same problem, so I thought it was the starter motor, Ive just been looking about for possible causes of clicking issues related to solenoids and starter motors and found this, and hadnt even considered the battery, which I know is pretty low as the bikes been sat for months, I expected it to sound tired out when starting, not make a loud clicking noise. Better charge my battery! Ta!
hey man i have a 99 ninja 250 and mine is doing the same thing..i charged the battery and realized the sound was coming from the solenoid.. did you just have to replace the solenoid? if so how much was it?
I have a similar issue with my '93 Ninja, though in my case not starter related. In cold weather (below 35ºF or so...), the battery just doesn't have enough juice to get it going. So I break out the jumper leads and then it usually starts right up.
THANKS bike was makin this noise last night! I was scared but ok it's the battery :) easy enuff
