  • what kind of editing software do you use?

  • @revowild Final Cut Pro

  • @rdfelty what company makes it

  • cessna videos are awesome! keep posting! btw how do you set the exposure to get the inside and outside?

  • @helios375 I get lucky. On an overcast day you can usually get both. Other days with bright sun, you can play with the levels in editing, but in a very small range. Thanks for asking.

  • Until what altitude or for how long do you keep the Cessna at full throttle after take off?

  • @Czwakiel Until you reach your Vy speed or speed that will allow for the best rate of climb. In a Cessna 172SP, Vy= 71 KIAS

  • @Czwakiel I'm sorry I meant 79 KIAS

  • @Czwakiel Sorry for the delay in writing back. You keep it at full throttle as long as you are climbing. So in this case, until you reach pattern altitude, which is roughly 1100 AGL in Norwood. You level the plane off and then pull the power back. Does that answer your question?

  • @rdfelty Yes sir, thanks a lot! I look forward to seeing more videos!

  • @rdfelty Awesome video mate! Nice flying! Can you please tell me the difference between "position and hold" and "line up and wait" because I think they mean the same thing...

  • @TheGreatFlyer They do mean the same thing. Recently the US changed to "line-up and wait" as the official approved phrase which is what other countries use. So "position and hold" is out and "line-up and wait" is in... but they do mean the same thing.

  • Very nice camera shots and audio.

  • Much better than some of my landings lol. You should see my first one I posted in a piper archer, holy cow I screwed that one up lol. Great landing and nice pattern, wish I had such a nice plane around here!

  • @DerPilotMann Thanks. I did OK. It was a fun flight and yes it is a nice plane. I'm lucky.

  • @rdfelty Actually I just stumbled upon some nice rental planes around here, a 2005 C182, and a 2005 C172! I look forward to logging some hours in those!

  • I've just started watching your videos with this one. What does "lights, camera, action" refer to? Also, are do you have some videos where you explain what is going on as you fly and navigate and look at the instruments for us 'pilot wanna-bes'?

  • @forester218 Lights camera action is a memory device to help me remember lights, flaps and fuel pump in the Cirrus. In the Cessna it's probably more like lights, flaps and mixture since the fuel pump is not on for landing. I should consider talking more to explain what I'm doing but I haven't done a video like that yet. You should look for something called The Finer Points, a podcast about flying.

  • @forester218 I fly skyhawk G1000 like the one Rick flies here. the reference to lights camera action are also use to help you remember the following at take-off. Lights=trobe lights position on the wing tips, camera= Transponder from stand by to basically to the on position so that ATC and other aicraft can see you is like the camera of the sky, and action referes to fuel mixture for take off in our case (Rick and I) at sea level is full rich, and it is a memory aid.

  • nice landing there buddy

  • @poskyflyer Thanks for the nice comment. I'm trying to improve, but still learning.

  • @rdfelty not much to really improve on

  • @poskyflyer Thanks!

  • what was your altitude above ground when you were abeam the runway numbers?

  • @rileinc At around 1100 feet which is pattern altitude at Norwood.

  • @rdfelty Thank you for the quick response! I also noticed the switch to "line up and wait" when tuned to an ATC traffic streaming website. I looked around and found that FAA made the switch on Sept. 30, 2010, and they've been doing awareness programs since June.

And as always, thanks for your awesome videos, keep them coming!

  • @rileinc Thanks for watching. I was ready for a line-up and wait, but since I so rarely used to get a position and hold, it was a fun surprise to get one on this flight.

  • Great video as usual! You are my inspiration to really get back to flight training!

  • @uberwagn Glad to help. Keep me posted as you get into it again.

  • Hey Rick, do you use a wide angle lense on your camera? And if so, what kind? Thanks.

  • I love how you show in the cockpit as well as the radio communications too

  • @crazygood150 Thanks. I've been slowly figuring it out over the past few years. Pretty fun to shoot and edit.

  • Nice landing Rick ! Loved the shadow and the rear facing camera.

  • Fabulous video Rick, bang on the TD zone too!

  • Great flying & thx for sharing. Damn, still wish to see me Cessna's with dials though.

    Beautiful vid...Rich

  • We enjoy the pattern videos, Rick, cos they're so well filmed! Any way, few of us can do cross country every week.

  • Looking good Rick! Very well put together as always, I just scheduled an hour of closed pattern practice for next weekend for myself as well. Plymouth again after the launch?

  • Another great video Rick! A nice solid landing, very nice. How come you just stay in the pattern once and don't do touch & goes?

  • Nice landing and nice editing on the video!

  • Nice one Rick. I like the side and rear facing views too. Here in Phoenix we dont see any changing colors. Cactus are always green and the ground is always brown. :-(

Looking forward to starting some cross countries so I can fly up North and see some color.
