  • 4:27 I allways loved that little smile she cracked when she asked him to "say it properly then.." Fun song, thank you for posting the montage , just makes you happy to listen to.

  • This was the Seekers last performance as a group!

  • I love to read most of the comments on this clip, I guess people who love and understand the 60s pop culture of UK really have class....Georgy Girl, Dusty, Pet Clark, King's Road, Leicester Square, oh, those sweet memories...

  • Who wouldn't marry James Mason?

  • R.I.P Lynn, I loved you always

  • What a great movie, and song!

  • Thanks for sharing all three versions. The last one has always been my favorite, but not many know that it exists.

  • Judith has the most wonderful voice of all time...!

  • She's always window shopping but never stopping to buy. And as a professional sales clerk, I'm very resentful. Waste my time, why don't you?

  • Georgy Girl and To Sir, With Love are both classic movies with unforgettable theme songs sung by supremely talented singers.

  • What a wondeful voice Judith Durham has!

  • what a wonderful film.who couldnt love georgie?now she belongs to the ages.

  • "Who needs a perfect lover, when you're a mother at heart." Easily one of the most touching portrayals of mother love ever done in a film.

  • This is why I check first to see if someone else has posted what I plan on posting, which was merely the end of the film. I always loved the tune as a young'un in the 60's and just cracked up when it came on when I finally watched the film years later.

Love the joy in the live performance.

You have done a far finer job than I was going to, so thanks!

  • RIP Lynn Redgrave...You were a wonderful actress

  • Lynn Redgrave, was a wonderful actress and will always be our Georgy Girl... We lost her way too soon. It was a tough year for this family losing two other members.. My heart goes out to them.. We will never see the likes of the 60s again, I was born in 1960, remember the late 60s.. besides the war times were so much better in the 60s and 70s... What has happened to us...? Our first car with a stereo radio was a 69 Pontiac Bonneville, recall this song playing going to Texas on vacation RIP Lynn

  • rip.....

  • I love the different lyrics The Seeker's sing on the end credits. I don't think those lyrics were released commercially...

  • @Gingertappz , fyi, they released both the beginning credits and ending credits version on the 5 cd set "The Seekers Complete" (EMI 1995). However, the sound quality on the cd isnt any better than this posting.

  • @hautedaug ahhhh, I see..Well isn't that a shame. Too bad the tapes could not be remastered and re-released.. Thanks for the info

  • RIP Lynn Redgrave... your legend will always live on...

  • RIP Lynn. So wonderful!

  • RIP Lynn Redgrave...You are a wonderful actress who will be missed

  • Will always love this movie...Lynn Redgrave was the greatest!!! She will be forever missed!!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP, Lynn.

  • Bravo Grande

  • another classy respectable woman leaves this world & enters the next. what a groovy lady. God bless her & her family. she leaves an admirable legacy behind.

  • R.I.P lynn redgrave

  • Rejoice for Lynn ! she will always be part of London in the swinging sixties an example of a young girl with her own sense and morality and a kind heart. So glad you are at rest. We all miss you . Take care Georgy Girl

  • So sorry to hear of Lynn's death especially so soon after Corin's death. I'll never forget you as Georgy Girl. RIP Lynn, Natasha and Corin. If only I could give Vanessa a big, strong hug.

  • rip lynn............................

  • RIP Lynn :- (

  • RIP Lynn..may you rest in peace..thanks for all of the wonderrful memories

  • Oh, what memories this brings me of the 60's in London!

  • Always loved that movie and song. Thanks for putting together this montage.

  • love it !

  • I could always relate to this song, one of my favorites from the 60's. also love the movie!! thanks for making this video

  • I love the song "Georgy Girl" since I was a little boy, but I don't recall ever seeing the movie. I'm hearing lyrics by the Seekers on a song that I have loved all my life. It's weird, fascinating and cool all at the same time. Notice, at 2:29, The Seekers are singing their farewell concert, and they're singing GG very fast. They finished it in 2 minutes. Thanks for posting this great video! I'm always window shopping but never stopping to buy. I can relate to Georgy Girl. I'd be Georgy Boy lol

  • Nice video :)

Is it just me, or at Time = 00:48, does the Sales Lady have a "Beak" or what? ;))

  • On the one hand, I LOVED this movie, but on the other, the thought of James Mason, who, even then, was like 102 years old, chasing after 23-year old Lynn Redgrave was sort of icky.

  • The age difference was vital to the movie plot, and Mason's character was somewhat sympathetic. But, yeah.

  • He gave me the creeps in every movie..north by northwest, star is born, and his crowning glory, Lolita

  • @mthivier ROFL "the thought of James Mason, who, even then, was like 102 years old" That's too funny!

  • There is something haunting, innocent and sublime about the lead vocal...I think this may be on of the best female vocals ever!!!

  • It's Judith Durham, Lindaznyc. Check out her version of Danny Boy on YouTube. You'll love it.

  • It's Judith Durham and the Seekers--Athol Guy, Keith Potger, Bruce Woodley. Unique, irreplaceable sound...

  • Looks like the last shot was too short, so they ran the film backwards - watch the confetti in the background falling then coming back up!

  • this was me -i totally related growing up

  • That's interesting, I'd never heard the original lyrics which are slightly different than the recorded version.

(Hey there/Georgy Girl/Give yourself a treat like most girls do/Get another hairstyle too/And oh what a change there'd be..)

When I think about the lyrics I'm not sure I like the sentiment though, its all about changing your appearance and I never thought I say that, I really like The Seekers.

  • Maybe it's not quite that - the young lady in the song wants happiness, she has great potential.

Never heard the last verse though which is interesting.

  • These B&W British films from the mid 1960's are completely unique in feel - they really evoke a time and place like few other films do.

  • Which one was Ted in this movie? The credits said it was Bill Owen who played him. That's Compo from 'Last Of The Summer Wine.' I can't imagine him in another roile other than Compo.

One of those movies where the themebecame much more famous than the movie.

  • Bill Owen played Georgy's father. You can see him left standing on the church steps with her mother who is holding the baby around 4:54

  • Bill owen was also in Carry on Sergeant with william hartnell a.k.a. Dr. Who

  • I love that video-I wish I had the DVD of Georgy Girl

  • I kind of feel sorry for the millionaire at the end of the video. He wants Georgy but all Georgy wants is the baby. He feels left out. Poor fella.

  • I've never seen a bad movie with a good ending. Maybe the happiest ending I have ever seen. I can't watch the whole thing anymore, but I find myself watching the ending over and over.

  • I have finally watched this video, its on demand right now on cable, its the free demand, my mother always told me about this movie how great it is, and you know what it is a great movie, she gets everything she wanted at the end of the movie.and the slut she lived with, just is going to get what she deserves , NOTHING

  • Wow, your rich Georgy Girl. I waen't expecting that. it's great to hear the original lyrics. and the middle part from '68. now that I know how it ends I want to see the movie. any one know where possibly for free on the net?

  • I had to get it from Netflix. Great performance by Lynn Redgrave and a nice one by the always Britishly suave James Mason with a comic twist.

  • WOW

    Great post!

    Thanks.

  • One of Englands best films of the 60's with a fantastic song to go with it. The film makes me smile through most of it.

  • Hey there, Georgy girl

Now you've got a future planned for you

Tho he's not a dream come true

    At least he's a millionaire

    So don't despair

    You're rich Georgy girl

  • I just saw the film in March 2009. I'm 54, and remembered the popularity of the film (1966) and song (1968). I know a real-life "Georgy Girl". And I personally know how the Millionaire might feel. If you watch the film as an observer of Georgy, it is one thing. To watch the film from inside Georgy's world, is another. I can say I've known both. I am very glad to see all the lyrics from the film presented here. Food for thought.

  • What a beautiful song, and this movie along with "Darling", "Blow-Up", and "Alfie" capture what was a very exciting time in London. Gotta love the mid 60s!!!

  • I just love the old lady at :23 who's so worried that this bizarre young woman is about to get herself killed. It's so...English, and perfect.

  • sad

  • A brilliant film with one of the best endings I have ever seen. Don't watch this video through before you see the whole film ... its great !! THANKS FOR POSTING

  • Thanks for including the ending credits/song of the film . . . haven't heard it in many years!

  • 43 years in my case

  • What a treat. Vintage.

  • thank you so much for this wonderful post!!!

  • lv this film and the song xx lippy
