@Bigbbiker larger weight rods are just for bigger fish, I think the advantage of lower weight rods is their maneuverability because they are smaller. The most important thing is making sure the tippet is the right size, if you are using very small flies use like an 8X or 7X tippet
Thank you for sharing. I always enjoy your videos and the music played in the background. If you ever think of it could you draft up a playlist of some of your favorite fishing tunes and email them to bhakulin@yahoo.com. Thanks and tight lines.
1danard must not know shit about trout. Those are high elevation wild trout dumbass. Those are good sized trout for that area. Go catch stocked trout from your local spillway dipshit.
the song is called "dusty roads"... think its by a band called subsurface. they have some really good music... i'm pretty sure you can download the song on flies and fins website...
o dear i better say something here. Its not to set the hook or take up slack i think what phx is asking here is why do you "false cast" back and forth above your head. That is because the bait, your fly doesn't have any weight but instead the line has the weight. So by throwing it back and forth you slowly let out more line until you have enough out to reach your target. Taking slack out is somethign different called mending. But the line lays on the water.
ryanschneider318- Those falls are in Alleghany County on 220 north heading to Hot Springs. I grew up in that area and if the stream he is fishing is below the falls it is not stocked but there probably some native trout there. Very rough terrain as well..straight down from the highway.
can you please post where this is? i live in western virginia and mostly fish native brooks and stocked rainbows and really would like to try some new streams
Im a fisher but have not ever tried fly fishing before. When he has a fish the first thing he does is whip his rod straigh above his head. Why does he do that?
He does it to set the hook, like when in regular fishing u whip the rod to pull the hook into the fish's mouth. There is alot of slack in fly line, so he whips it up to take out the slack and to set the hook.
I grew up near the falls featured in this video and recognized route 220. I could even see a portion of my dad's farm. The stream, is that the stream below the Falling Springs falls?
Who needs computer games... Awesome.
