"Where the faces shine" ,"A thousand lights" and "Faces shine" to answer yore lyric questions, according to stlyrics-DOT-com via google search, where it states "ain't no wall" and "no wall" rather than "in a wall" also, thanks 4 thee upload, GREAT album, especially whilst sniffing glue.
Yes, I am going to kick your ass. Detroit. That is what we do. We are not pretty. We do not hope for a slot on a game show. We are just going to kick your ass. You won't die.
at the time this album came out...........it basically melted all your other albums if you put it next to them..............also best cover art in history........
I vividly remember being 17 and the minute after buying this album I popped it in my car stereo, this came on and I felt like such a badass, hearing it for the first time.
This song is clearly a prophecy of the Facebook Wall... in other words, out in the actual STREET, not online, you float around and see a pretty thing... there ain't no Wall.
I know it would be really easy now with computer art tools, because I do it, but can anyone tell me how a record cover like this was made in 1969?? I don't understand how they got one picture blending into another, colour saturation, etc.
Thanks for this post. This piece was one of my absolute favorites in '69 .... raw, powerful, thumping. STILL timeless. The Stooges were absolutely trend-setters .... who would have guessed that they were ushering in a new genre in 1969?? There were ALOT of musical seeds planted back in the '60's .... "punk" was one, born here. That Iggy was shirtless, body-surfing in the crowd, baggin' .... man, freaky at the time; few recognized what was coming. :-)
@HaulinHearse I know, right?? I can't even imagine how the Carpenters kept on. On the other hand, they might not have heard it--not that many people did at the time.
These are the correct lyrics: Huh! Down on the street Where the faces shine. Floatin' around i'm A real low mind. See a pretty thing - ain't no wall. See a pretty thing - ain't no wall. No wall, No wall, No wall. Uuh! Yeah deep in the night I'm lost in love. Yeah deep in the night I'm lost in love. A thousand lights Look at you. A thousand lights Look at you. I'm lost, i'm lost, i'm lost - yeah. Huh Faces shine - real low mind. Real low mind. I'm a real low mind. Real low mind
I LOVE this song, it's fantastic. This is the 2nd time I've found a cool classic thanks to Supernatural, them playing "oldies" has paid off big time for me, lol.
If you have even a glimmer of love for The Ramones watch the documentary "End Of The Century, The Story Of The Ramones" This is the song when Mickey talks about seeing Joey on stage for the first time...incredible even more knowing (finally) who does this...finally!! Coolest song in a long while.
Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung. The work of a legendary Critic: Rock´n,Roll as Literature and Literature as Rock´n´Roll - Lester Bangs - a awesome Book about Rock´n´Roll!
I saw Iggy in Providence about 12 years ago....Little Prick stole my groupie...we were grinding all night, then he invited her up on stage for the last son...last i saw of her ,or him.....lol
Need weed thats fonny I live in Cali im a 420 and smoke weed legally and get the best shit known to man, but hey the girls like me cause im loose and totally fatabulously hot :}
i saw the Stooges as a warm band for the MC5, December 1967 Weslow Hall, Detroit, Michigan. I was 13. You had to be 16, so I gave the doorman my bottle Boonsefarm to get in. Lots of bikers. I did not see the MC5. After Iggy did 3 songs they could not find him in the crowd. Lots of broken wooden chairs, and lots of blood on the floor. Violence. I ran for my life.
this is my first time commenting on anything on youtube...but i just wanted to thank slaytanicmegaforce for his contributions...exceptional quality of one of the coolest bands ever...again...thanks man!
this record is more than 40 years old. that's a full grown man, with a mid-life crisis and all. did it stand the test of time?
let's see, not only it still kicks fucking ass, it does it a helluva lot harder than any of the kids around these days. i think it was mark e smith who said this was "the greatest album ever made". i believe him
Never thought I could answer such a dumb question but I think if someone asks me, in the end, my favorite song of all times, I'd have to be this. Ron Asheton's killing machine of a guitar + Iggy Pop's demented vocal attacks = Über-brilliance.
@sahbian i think this is more popular than folk, but you have a point, folk has evolutionized to this so i guess urban folk could be a suitable name. lol why kill it though?
Michigan music from the mid 60s to early 70s...Stooges, Frijid Pink, SRC, Third Power, Ted Nugent (with the Amboy Dukes), Bob Seger System (before his commercial crap), MC5..Michigan Music and we didn't even know what we had. Alice Cooper was the lightweight of the bunch. Great time to be 18 and be a damn good-lookin boy. Loved me some hippie chicks. Magic music and magic times in Michigan.
This song makes me want to set fire to government buildings and beat up pedestrians while mixing illegal substances and Molotov my enemies homes. Yeah i went there.
Fuck! Shit comes at you full blast! What a fuckin sonic thrust! Great rythm section with Scott Asheton on drums & Dave Alexander on bass. And, don't forget Scott's brother Ron on punishing guitar. This was the Igg's best band and set the standard for proto-punk music for years! Thank you for the post!
reminds me of coming out of a car park in Berkley CA April 07, playing this full blast through the streets and down Telegraph Ave.... what a crazy place the west coast is...I LOVE THIS PURE DIRT ROCK N ROLL.
@Einvestigator96 yeah real tough bro, delete a comment then send me another insult. I WAS JOKING YOU FUCKING MORON. ive been rocking out to the stooges even when you where a little faggot sperm in your daddy's cock you cunt,in essence since 1973.
When I first heard this tune in the background of the Tesla scene in Jim J's "Cigarettes & Coffee." I just assumed the track was Jack White's creation. But after recently searching the movie on Wikipedia, I discovered that a whole new slice of furious energy belongs to an interesting band by the name of Stooges fronted by an interesting singer named Iggy Pop! Imagine that!
i was 13 years old and the in school suspension teacher gave me a copy of fun house. i've gotten close to a thousand albums since then, but still haven't found anything that can compete with the bad assery of this album.
Yes you are right.............. listen to this just after you've left your cunt of a boyfriend, who fucked with your head and turned out of be a dead set fucking cunt and you will remember that yes!!!!.. you don't give a shit
LOL! WOW! "they all earned the title, but why should this 'proto punk' hold so much?" I've got a newsflash for ya: Rock just isn't ROCK anymore; it hasn't been for a long time, in fact! Dont bother answering to this. You'll just be wasting more time and energy to someone who doesnt care.
shit, don't give those extra light strings. just the light. we got a heavy gig in lincoln park and we are going cover a lot of territory. you wouldn't like it. it is for men. it is for men who like rock. there's plenty of girls, but this show is for hard core rock fans.... and we are going to do 3 iggy stooge songs. fuck you and your horse.
When they talk about real rock n' roll...w/ attitude, power, rebellion, defiance...When they talk about "tough" fucking music...This sez it all....R.I.P. Ron Ashton

@AdamsApple1963 Go ahead. Its not like your gospel changed my opinion on what I think. And instead of respectfully debating, you decide to try and ridicule me over a youtube page. wow for someone who's yt name indicates that they are 47 years old, you sure are wasting your precious time insulting someone much younger than him. Dont bother answering to this. You'll just be wasting more time and energy to someone who doesnt care.
