Thanks for this post. This piece was one of my absolute favorites in '69 .... raw, powerful, thumping. STILL timeless. The Stooges were absolutely trend-setters .... who would have guessed that they were ushering in a new genre in 1969?? There were ALOT of musical seeds planted back in the '60's .... "punk" was one, born here. That Iggy was shirtless, body-surfing in the crowd, baggin' .... man, freaky at the time; few recognized what was coming. :-)

i saw the Stooges as a warm band for the MC5, December 1967 Weslow Hall, Detroit, Michigan. I was 13. You had to be 16, so I gave the doorman my bottle Boonsefarm to get in. Lots of bikers. I did not see the MC5. After Iggy did 3 songs they could not find him in the crowd. Lots of broken wooden chairs, and lots of blood on the floor. Violence. I ran for my life.
