  • Ha ha ha this kid is in over his head

  • Duffy is in way over his head.

The idiot doesn't even know where his magical charts and numbers are coming from. And, when confronted with the truth, he feigns ignorance and basically says its my baseball and I'll take it home if you don't agree with me.

  • WHEN REPUBLICANS ARE CHALANGED WITH THE TRUTH ALL THEY CAN DO IS INSULT OUR SENIOUR CITENZINS SHAME RESPECT YOUR ELDERS YOU PIECE OF SHIT

  • This punk is treating men three times his age like children, but they'll vote him back in again and cry and complain again in another two years. peasants!

  • This is grass-roots--everything else is bought and paid for by the Heritage Foundation, by the Koch brothers and by Richard Mellon-Scaife...

  • I hope all Americans whove seen what's going on in this country almost every congress as@#ole Person needs to be Fired 2012!

  • "When you have a town hall, you can stand up and give your presentation"? This guy needs to GO! I DONT CARE IF IT IS A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN ANY ELECTED PERSON WHO WOULD STAND THERE AND TALK TO THE PEOPLE HE WORKS FOR LIKE THIS NEEDS TO BE ELECTED OUT....WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE EMPLOYERS OF THESE ELECTED OFFICIALS AND WHEN WE CONFRONT THEM AND ASK A QUESTION WE EXPECT A ANSWER WITHOUT A SMARTASS REMARK...IF THEY CAN NOT DO THIS THEY NEED TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF OFFICE!

  • Love how you guys edit out that the "nobel prize-winning economist" was Paul Krugman - and that the audience laughed uproariously at the assertion that krugman was anything but a joke!

Might want to tell the shill to memorize his talking-points next time too -- reading them off a cheat-sheet is just weak.

And if this is what you call "losing his cool", well...

Nice try -- well, not really...

    Weak...

For those interested in TRUTH, see bcove.me(slash)u3mrqbva

  • @dedicateddad Krugman is an elitist moron Hope he dies a slow death in Venezuela

  • @Villageidiots86 We agree on the vote, but differ on who the losers will be. GOP sweep in '12!

  • Seems like there was an audio glitch at the 56 second mark. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Sad, they missed a great insight on how the public feels about that Nobel Prize winning economist.

  • Lol. Think Progress: An organization run by clowns, putting out content for clowns.

Liberalism is dying a quick death in this country. We're onto your bullshit.

  • @eventual11

You realize that the Conservatism of the U.S. is part of the political ideology known as "Liberalism", right? I don't think you're on to anyone's bullshit, but rather are stuffing it directly into your mouth.

  • What happened at the 56 second mark?

  • Why is this video edited with the laughter cut out when the libtard mentions Paul Krugman?

  • "Think" Progress can't even tell the truth with this edited video! Win/Win for conservatives! kepp up the great work you useful idiots! LOVE THIS EDITED VIDEO!

  • @obamaismybitch Conservatives dont lower taxes then wage multiple wars, only idiots like you and Bush would call that conservative. Paul Ryan voted for every spending bill in the Bush admn

  • If you are going to blatantly edit a video to propagate you views you should make sure the actual video isn't posted at a thousand different blogs. It proves your idiocy and that you are a flat out liar.

  • hahahahahahahah THAT was him "losing his cool" lol Oh bother. It's really sad that is the best you can muster in faux outrage at the GOP plan.

  • Wow - this video has been edited into lefty propoganda. Goebbels would be proud.

  • What a hack editing job. And where, exactly, did Duffy "lose his cool"? You must have edited that part out, too.

  • Nice job not including the section that the whole room bursts out laughing when Paul Krugman's name is mentioned by the left wing loon...

  • @8TG8 Why would idiotic lefties tell the truth? That would require honesty. Didn't Oblamea just ban a press reporter for showing protests? The left isn't too keen on transparency in general. They are one giant fraud.

  • Please restore the part of the video that you edited out. That would be the part where the crowd bursts into laughter at the mention of the imbecile Paul Krugman. Pretty pathetic (but typical) of you to do this. A sign of desperation, I suppose, but if this is the best you can do, you guys are going to be in deep shit come November 2012.

  • You are nasty hacks. You left out the part where everyone rightly laughs at the imbecile quoting the unbelievably stupid Paul Krugman.

  • This is the "what matters are queer matters" version edited for the democrat tinkerbells for their make believe world. Two of the more notable democrat fairies, barney frank and bernie sanders, have said we will spend until it stops working, solid nobel prize material.

  • "No grass roots opposition to the Ryan budget"??

Are you JOKING? 3/4 of Americans oppose major cuts to Medicare, and the same amount support raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans. Ryan's plan cuts the deficit by $4 Trillion on the backs of the poor and elderly-- but then GIVES IT ALL BACK by cutting the tax rate on the wealthiest Americans by an additional 11%!!!! Again, what planet are you from??

  • Comment removed

  • The full video is actually quite hilarious. Especially the response edited out at around 50 seconds into this video.

  • Think Progress takes a page out of their favorite book "Soviet tactics for Dummies", Chapter 1:

Edit out of existence any thought action or deed that is not approved by The Soviet.

In other words, the exact video moment when the mention of Paul Krugman's name results in howls of derisive well-deserved laughter.

Krugman is the most dishonest and nakedly partisan economist in America today and that makes him invaluable to the trustworthy and fair-minded crew at Think Progess.

  • Hey. Where's the part about Krugman?

    Laughter ensued!

    YOU LIE!

  • @cooks2006 It's edited out! After the leftie (union thug, probably) refers to a "Nobel Prize winning economist", he was asked what economist he meant. "Paul Krugman" was his response, and the room exploded in laughter! Note the sloppy edit at this point.

2012 will be glorious. Conservative sweep. We'll own the court (supreme, not hoops).

  • Boy that's some pretty kick ass editing there. Maybe you can post the part about the commenter getting heckled for using Krugman as a 'reliable source'.

  • Duffy was doing OK handling the criticism about the Heritage Foundation chart but when the guy in the front row simply mentioned a 60 minutes investigation, pertinent to the topic, Duffy strikes with verbal hostility, apparently unprovoked, like a snake in the weeds.

  • "Big Left" organizations?? "Union thugs"?? What planet are you living on?

These were extremely calm, polite, and well-spoken constituents, who were wanting real information.

  • "Big Left Union Thugs"?? What planet do you live on? You draw a comparison between these men and guys who attacked and sent someone to the hospital? That's just absurd.

These men were measured, polite, and extremely calm in addressing Duffy. He comes off as a snarky teenager who's unfamiliar with his own material.

  • @jimmypopz23 You can post that with a straight face on a video in which the laughter over the mention of Paul Krugman was edited out? There is no grass roots opposition to the Ryan budget. Let the Senate vote. It will go down, but the dems who vote against it who are up for re-election in '12 will lose.

    Win-win for the good guys!

  • This dude is in for a rough few years

  • It's my party and I'll lie if I want to, lie if I want to...

  • I love how the guy in the audience criticizes Duffy for a chart that Duffy is not even using. He wants the chart to be from the Heritage Found. so badly, so that he can work from his spoonfed talking points, that he makes hay about Duffy not using a supposedly biased chart.... instead, Duffy is citing a non-biased Congressional Budget Office chart to make his point, which, of course, frustrates the pre-planned attack..... and shows the opposite of what Think Progress wants to show...Awesome!

  • Why is there an edit at the 0:55 mark?

  • @InExile61: Thats the section that Think Progress doesn't want you to see because the "nobel prize winning" economist is identified as Paul Krugman in the edited portion and the audience roars in laughter about it (and therfore showing themselves to be overwelmingly sympathetic to Sean Duffy).

  • @InExile61

You would think George Soros type money would buy better editing.......

  • They should take him up on it. Run against him and have your own town hall.

  • Hate to say it, but this video is a farce. Think Progress is trying to give the impression that the audience is overwhelmingly hostile to Duffy. However, they edit out the resounding laughter than ensues when the "nobel prize winning economist" referred to as calling the Ryan plan a fraud is identified as Paul Krugman. The audience, except for a few schills armed with false and misleading DNC talking points, is actually highly supportive of Rep. Duffy.

  • @gmccraley Hate to say it? Please. I well remember the astro-turf fuled outrage vs, Obama Care, and how the right wing media lionized the outraged constituents as angry patriots. Revolution was in the air. Never mind that many of the outraged were Medicare recipients who did not grasp that Medicare is considered, by most right wing propagandists, as socialism. Dick Army, the Astro-Turf godfather, had been hot to terminate Medicare since he was a toddler. Now they reap what they sow.

  • @molloyxx1 You're wrong on your facts.

The "astro-turf" is entirely on the liberal side. The opposition at this town hall was organized by Big Left organizations and the opposition seen at ObamaCare was primarily from union thugs. Remember when SEIU members physically attacked Kenneth Gladney at an ObamaCare town hall, sending Gladney to the hospital? I do!

The left can feign outrage all day long, but that doesn't make it true.

  • @kazoolist A bizarre and fact avoidant post. It has been well documented that Dick Armeys [sp] Freedom Works organization was instrumental in providing funding for the nascent Tea Bag 'movement', much of it from corporate donors. Armey has been a lobbyist for high powered national and international corporations. The Koch brothers, who having been funding extremist right wing groups since the 60's [ yes, the John Birch Society] funnel their fortunes through Americans for Prosperity.

  • @kazoolist And, as we well know, the Koch brothers are 'tight' w/ the Wisconsin governor whose primary goal was to break the unions in his state [ and has seen his approval ratings tank since then]. Moreover, foreign born billionaire, Rupert Murdoch, via Fox News, gave the Tea Baggers a free media platform, featuring Glenn Becks loathsome 'rally' and reporters who were later called on the carpet for cheer leading vs reporting. Hence, the Tea Party is nothing but a cover for corporate interests

  • @kazoolist And now people like Ryan are contending with a Frakenstien monster of their own creation. The Tea Party 'movement' is predominately white and geriatric or close to geriatric [ and typically voted for Bush twice]. As such they are Medicare recipients, never mind that many right wingers portrayed Medicare as a socialist program. Now that it is clear Ryans plan will decimate Medicare some of them are finally waking up to the obvious realities, dooming the party in 2012. Cheers.

  • He now just shows a vid or a live feed of himself...he wants nothing to do with people actually asking him questions.

  • If he was relying on info from the Heritage Foundation he was fucked as everyone knows that all their stuff is biased towards the Right and another Koch propaganda machine.

  • @cisseshairdresser" That's the point. He's not relying on HF info. The info is from the CBO, which is non-partisan. The guy in the audience is getting bent because he cannot carry out his planned attack on Duffy based on the pre-printed talking points he was provided. Note how in other GOP town-halls audience members are somehow contemporaneously challenging charts as coming from the "Heritage Foundation"... only here, the guy tries to do as he was told and comes up empty. Awesome epic fail!

  • @cisseshairdresser Stop drinking the Kool-Aid. First, Duffy clearly indicates he was using CBO data. Secondly, the Heritage Foundation is comprised of scholars. While Heritage exists to (explicitly!) promote conservatism, their work can't can't simply be dismissed by bringing up the Koch brothers like they're some boogey-men. Debate the Heritage numbers on the merits.

  • @kazoolist

"Secondly, the Heritage Foundation is comprised of scholars."

This fallacy (appeal to authority) contradicts your last sentence.

"...exists to (explicitly!) promote conservatism, their work can't can't simply be dismissed by bringing up the Koch brothers...Debate the Heritage numbers on the merits."

If I don't agree with conservatism, then yes I can dismiss an organization who's sole purpose is to promote it.

  • Note that the part where the entire audience laughed at being told the heckler

got his information from Paul Krugman has been edited out by Think Progress. The left in this country has no ethical foundation whatsoever. I despise you all.

  • CON JOB!!!

  • This guys ship is sinking. This is the same guy that said in a town hall that he struggles off of $174k a year.

  • Wow from the Real World to Congress...thanks MTV. For nothing

  • This guy is another traitor in Congress who voted for the Patriot Act, next time you see this loser he will be in the unemployment line with his 6 kids and wife begging for govt.welfare/food stamps after the 2012 elections.

Typical hypocrite. "Struggling" with his 174k salary...please.

  • That might end up being Sean Duffy last town hall what a smart ass

  • He never really lost his cool

  • I love it.

Call them out over and over.

  • OH how SWEET it is!

  • Thanks a lot, republican voters, you fucking retards.

  • Finally their own people realize How much they lie! I'm sorry but those were not "plants" it's your own people who have finally wised up!

  • The idiots at "PolkcountyGOP" are trying to have this video permanently BANNED from YouTube, claiming "DMCA" violations.

    Typical conservative cowards!

  • Sean Duffy doesn't like this video.

  • Way to handle voters!

  • ohhhh, what an ass hole, "When you have a townhall".

  • The thin-skinned loser Duffy looks like he's getting a good taste of - The Real World - Wisconsin.

  • this video is conveniently truncated to not show what happened after this. no shocker there. its not as if think progress is even remotely fair go conservatives. and also, why he should he have to sit up there and have a bunch of ninnies call him a liar and a fraud? these are left wing guys not willing to even listen to him or what he's saying, because they've already decided he's a liar and are only interested in being there to say so to score political points.

  • @jboze3131 He was not using factual information, that is why he was called a liar and a fraud, for when your information has been proved inaccurate and you spout it as truth, you are in fact a liar and a fraud.

  • @jboze3131

Yeah, because these people have so much political clout.

It's not political pointscoring to ask valid, reasonable questions of a man who is supposed to be there to answer them, not present his graph and campaign. This is what happens when you elect idiots who confuse catchy slogans with actual governance.

  • @Lodatzor most politicians are worthless without talking points . Its even worse when they finally get called out on their lying scumbag bullshit. God Im loving this backlash.

  • I don't know this Duffy guy, but he sounds like a cheap, lying dipshit. Somebody please kick the shit out of him for the good of us all.

  • Wow, what a jackass. This congressman clearly doesn't understand what a town hall meeting is.

  • @Taijiguy108 Kind of the point that ThinkProgress was making here, methinks.

This does appear to be a consistent malady across the Republican spectrum, however. It seems that GOP reps can't get a handle on what really concerns their constituents. But how is it possible for an elected official to be such an asshat that he pisses off a room full of voters in so blatant a manner?

  • I like how polite progressive are when they press these guys. Unlike the Tea Party screamers last summer. Now, will the media report on this stuff, or do you have to make a scene to get noticed. We don't have to stay polite, and they ARE our town halls. That's democracy.

  • Quit picking on poor Sean Duffy, he can't live on only $174,000.00 of taxpayer-funded salary a year, and was complaining about that!

You people hyave no clue how hard a life he has!

    QUIT PICKING ON SEAN!

    Typical TeaBagging Liar Scum.

  • what a lying douchebag

  • Sean, you can put bullshit in jars, label it 'Apple Butter' and sell it by the roadside for only so long. Your busted, go back to your corporate overlords with your tail between your legs.

  • Sorry, Sean. Who is working for who, here?

  • Hey, Sean! Old people may hate just about everything, but they LOVE them some Medicare! They vote, and you can't take it away from them, dipstick.

  • What a boner.

I hope this tool goes back to Mtv where he belongs.

  • Shows how ignorant Tea Bagger party members are.

  • Clueless....But they voted for him...

  • I hope this guy just lost reelection. He is a real POS.

  • Republicans HATE democracy.

  • Awwww man, I'm loving every single minute of these GOP town halls, especially after the manufactured outrage at Democrat town halls for health care way back. The GOP is having a wayyyy tougher time because of the fact that the participants come armed with facts and information!

  • All of these Republicans always look like the popular kids in High School who wouldn't say hello to you until they were running for Student Council President..

  • Wow isn't he a cocky sob?

  • Town hall meetings belong to everybody, Mr. Duffy, that is the point of them.

  • what a fucking douchebag. i hope whoever his opponent is next election they just play this over and over. fuck these dirty rotten liars.

  • Lol, goddamn what a disrespectful asshole. How's everyone liking their representative "democracy"? Let's get power back to the people: Direct democracy!

  • Since Repubs can't take the heat, maybe they should stay out of the kitchen, especially when they're cooking up nothing but bullshit. :)

  • When the HELL are people going to STOP voting in these A-HOLES???

  • Way to piss off the olds, Duffy. Standing up there like some young whippersnapper and disrespecting the old guy talking about "60 Minutes". Who do you think is most likely to vote?

  • ~>America DOES have a REVENUE problem which SHOULD be a matter of NATIONAL SECURITY. Since Reagan, ~REPUBLICAN CLOWN GOD~, the GOP* AGENDA has been to REDUCE REVENUE in order to facilitate PRIVATIZATION or ELIMINATION of programs such as MEDICARE,SOCIAL SECURITY,UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS& others.PRIVATIZATION would be followed by an INCREASE in the costs of these services thus generating HUGE PROFITS at citizens' expense.INSTEAD of generating revenue REPUBLICAN$ want the NEEDIEST to do with LESS.

  • What an arrogant S.O.B.!

  • Sean Duffy = DICK HEAD

  • Hahahahaha hella funny... "hey when you have your little get together with constituents and they ask you questions then you can answer them but I dont want to"... so go fuck ya selves.

  • This reminds me of a certain conservatard radio show hosts infamous words, "This is why I have a radio show and you don't". Six months later his show was cancelled. Haha, biatch.

    Buh-bye, Duffy.

  • It seems some of you don't understand republican rules.

    But they are simple:

When a republican is meeting with constituents, they should shut their dumb fucking mouths and let the republicans educate them on what the truth is.

When a democrat is meeting with constituents, HE should shut his dumb fucking mouth and let the republicans in attendance yell at him and educate him on what the truth is.

Basically, republicans say what they say, it is always the truth, and the rest of us stfu.

  • @IAMtheNewWorldOrder Yeah that sounds pretty right to me...

  • No surprise here. When Rep Joe Wilson does his "town hall" meetings here in Bluffton/Hilton Head SC., he takes no questions from the floor; he simply asks people to put their questions on a note card as they enter the venue. Then, several cards are picked "at random" and answered. Never heard a real question yet. Most Dems have stopped going.

  • @LynnTTT Duffy hasnt caught on yet... well he prob has now so lets get some cameras to his next town hall and see if he managed to get smarter questions... maybe some fake constituents will show up.

  • ~~> No Son, This is THEIR TOWN Hall... And you sir, should heed thier words... There votes count... Even if you think they are beneath you (in your tone), their votes count...

  • RECALL RECALL RECALL RECALL RECALL RECALL RECALL RECALL RECALL

  • Sean Duffy never was cool but he did indeed become very bitchy; "When you get your town hall you can stand up and give your presentation." If a town hall meeting is not a dialog with constituents, why bother? Just email the charts and graphs.

  • When YOU have your town hall...

WHATS THE FUCKING POINT OF A TOWN HALL EXACTLY ASSHOLE?

  • @elviolette -

What a condesending asshole this jerk is!

  • The fact is that I paid into Social Security and Medicare for FIFTY YEARS and it was REQUIRED. I had no choice. I was told it was old age insurance. And NOW the GOP wants to renige on that contract!!! I don't think so. IF the GOP does not fulfill every promise they made many years ago the MILLIONS of Americans will call...their lawyers.

  • @exenrontexas That's simply false.... they are not renegging. They are honoring all obligations to those currently over 55, who will not see ANY CHANGES to the system currently in place. For those under 55, if you think that there will be any money left by the time you retire... you are living in a pipe dream. I'm currently under 55, and I'm saving like mad to pay for my own retirement because I already know that there will be nothing left by the time its my turn to get benefits.

  • @othername11 NO it is not false at all. SS & Medicare are mandatory insurance programs and the government is required to fulfill ALL of the benefits promised at the time of enrollment. SO a person who begins paying in TODAY at age 15 like I did should received ALL of their benefits when 65. It IS renegging and this was planned by conservatives ever since Ronald Reagan who strongly opposed it and was closely allied with large insurance companies who competed against it. Like Reagan it is a myth

  • @exenrontexas You have no fundamental grasp of economics. If there is no money to pay the "obligations" of the government, how is it going to honor them? Money paid into these benefits now doesn't go into a trust fund... it is instantly spent on the program itself or on other government spending (with an IOU stuck in the file... this is literally true). There is no saved amount. These programs are paid out of current tax revenue, so if they grow at the rates that the CBO projects [to be cont.]

  • @othername11 Then the money that need to come out of tax revenue begins to take away from other government programs... or the government raises taxes. Trouble is, regardless of the tax rates in effect (top rate of 90% as in the 50's or about 35% in recent times), the US govt. has only been able to actually collect taxes at a 15-22% of GDP rate (the economy grows or shrinks to fit this amount of taxation). This is true in other economies of the world as well. [to be cont.]

  • @othername11 The bottom line..... there wont be enough money (even if you tax income on the "rich" at 100%, as per a recent WSJ piece) to cover these programs.... at all, and never can be based on the cost increases and benefit levels. Bottom line, these programs will either be modified now by congress and choice, or by being grossly unfunded (or paid through confiscatory taxes from the rich and deep into the lower middle class). Which one will be harder, the choice or forced solution?

  • @othername11 let the old fuckers die SCREW THEM Kill medicare and let people who WORKED for a living instead of sucking off the system prevail Fuck those old stupid lazy scum

  • @exenrontexas Sir, its a ponzi scheme. Its not old age insurance. There is no pool of money being saved for these programs. They are paid out of current tax revenue. Any excesses seen in the 80's and 90's were just use to pay for other government spending. The GOP is fulfilling the "promise" as originally crafted to those over 55. For others, its trying to modify the "promise" so that there is something left for everyone else. There is no financial way to solve this otherwise.

  • @othername11 Basically you are somewhat correct but NOT INITIALLY. It was REAGAN who say the enormous amount of CASH in the SS trust fund as a potential use for his STAR WARS SCAM that wasted a TRILLION dollars on a weapons system that never worked. Reagan also struck the blow to SS solvency by capping the contributions by the rich. He took the cash in the SS trust fund and replaced it with IOUs. To make SS solvent again we need to REVERSE all the Reagan betrayals of the elderly.

  • The full clip will only make him look worst, remember this is a guy who said his $174K salary is not enough and he complained about having to drive a used minivan.

  • For a guy that was on a show called The Real World, it's a shame now that he is in government he refuses to live in it.

  • haha an obvious liberal plant ..im surprised no code pink people got up and screamed

  • @Roachenator Yeah, so we can assume when it was happening to liberals there were conservative plants? Its referred to as being full of it and being called on it.

  • @Ezekiels1 - yes it does happen that cons plant someone in a lib meeting...but usually its libs doing things like that, or libertarians. its a plant when obviously they came with DNC talking points...the way they rattle them off gives it away - its not "natural".

  • I'd love to see the whole thing rather than just a minute and a half.
