G'day, so either you're an old coot like me wishing to go back time, or just wanna learn something bout our great touring car history. All I can say is, just hope Chevron will release more dvd classics with more footage from 1980-1984 era. Already theres 5 volumes, but last one have 4 great races from early 80s. If you're a big tin-top fan, I suggest go and buy it. Those were the days when Brock, Grice, Johnson, Masterton, Goss, Fury, Bartlett, Jim Richards and many more were the big names...
I think the ABC have it. I'm almost certain they did the telecast that year, and never threw anything out, hence all the new Chevron DVDs. I've seen a few seconds of it in another doco, like, a helicopter shot. I just saw the '83 Adelaide ATCC round on youtube, and the '84 Oran Park 250 and Waneroo '83 ATCC round on the new dvd, all excellent stuff!
At the very least some snippets of the race still reside at BTQ7 in Brisbane, as they have popped up on Channel 7 productions in Queensland quite a few times.
As far as i know the Chevron DVDs are only licenced to release ABC content, and the ABC most certainly did NOT keep everything, tonnes of stuff has gone.
I would love to know if the 1979 ATCC finale between Brock & Bob Morris is hiding somewhere in the ABC archives
Aaah the good 'ol Group C big muthas!!! And Tru Blu my all time favourite!! Erm, dont suppose anyone out there have the final 1981 Lakeside race? And can I have a copy? No? Yes? Anyone?
Hard to believe not one piece of this track is left they pulled it all up and did a road in to suit themselves, least they left the sigh out the front saying amaroo park, google it and find it in google maps, you can make out where the track was,,but you will see a heap of mansions that are now owned by capatalists ,you will see the the dam is about the only thing left and you can just make out the track on the outskirts of the properties, what a waste of a great old car track
Not so. Its only the more modern cars which are all the same.
There is various chassis there. What spotted was Holdens, Fords, Jaguars and the chevy camaro. There may have been more. Each one is different in its own way.
Have a look at the '84 season too, everything from beemer 3 series to mustangs to volvo turbos.
this isnt a ATCC race. its amscar, 2 races a 10 and 25 laper. not everyone competed. the field was actually split into under and over 3lts. i have this in mint qualtity.

Channel 7 televised the 1981 ATCC finale.

Good racing but this clip is from 1982 not 81
In 81 Colin Bond was driving a Capri for Steve Masterton and the Camaro for Kevin Bartlett in 82

yeah the v8 supercars only have a field of 31cars, the atcc at the same year as this amscar race was getting 30-55 size car grids at some races !
