  • You're just going to stop... and drink TEA!

  • ha ha Robert Redford just spends his whole time in annoyance dealing British pomposity lol

  • Damn those 504th 82nd paratroopers are heroes...

  • Brilliant lads, give 'em hell 5:51

  • -.-'' didn't the germans shoot a cannon hit into the bridge after the fail???!! Ludwing was pretty idiot .. anyway this general didn't not exists his real name 's Heinz Harmel commander of the 10 SS PZ division Frundsberg into the 2nd SS panzerkorps of Bittrich

  • @Giampymike Idiot? Hardly. And their was no cannon. The Germans tried using torpedos and mines to blow it up, but they couldn't

  • @Trashcansam123 yes but only just because it's a movie , while in real life , a panzer division like that could shoot with their cannons after the fail of explosive to destroy the bridge

  • @Giampymike Artillery sure! But in real life they didn't. Tank cannons don't do much against a span like that.

  • HAHA FAIL!!!

  • i hate the machine gun sound affects in this movie, german mg42 sound nothing like that....

  • one thing that was better about this movie was it showed the truth about the German Small arms situation. they've all got the KAR 98, unlike other movies, where every German had an MP-40.

  • @Soundwave3591 usually only squad leaders were issued with mp 40s, it was the mg 42. that the allies feared most....

  • @timebandit71 i know, that's the point i'm making. in most other War films of the 50's-70's, nearly all the germans have MP-40's, except (conveniently) sentrys and gate guards, who thus have to fumble with their rifles, while the cannon fodder can mindlessly spray bullets from their MP-40's, never hitting the hero. look at "where Eagles Dare" Hallway battle scene for a perfect example of this.

  • @timebandit71 MG-42's would also be used by non-com officers in the German army or Unteroffiziers...Also - 1:27-1:28 looks more like an MG-34 due to the sights and the barrel - plus ROF doesn't sound like the distinct 'linolen ripper' but I could be wrong - I get mixed up between the MG-42 and 34 on a few occasions :)

  • "Why must you do everything by the book"...so true, only if Gen. Patton was leading assault to Arnhem, he would have not stopped after capturing that bridge

  • FAIL???

    EPIC FAIL....

  • Like the FAIL

  • Germanen Losers

    Fail Good editing

  • FAIL! brilliant piece of editing there!

  • LMFAO genius use of 'FAIL'.. hahaha literally made my day.

  • FAIL LMAO nice man lol that shoulda been in the movie too

  • @resculptit You never know, you can't exactly see what every soldier is thinking.

  • @resculptit Actually when shells are landing and bullets are flying alot of people pray to whatever god they believe in ;)

  • @resculptit Actually, it did take place. And, in the heat of combat is when all soldiers find religion, even if it is only for a second. "There are no atheists in foxholes."

  • @resculptit It wasn't praying, he was trying to set the tempo for the rowing. As good a thing as any under the circumstances.

  • @resculptit You dumb motherfucker read the book by Cornelius Ryan (if you can read you piece of shit). Julian Cook, the man they are showing praying, did pray out loud during the crossing. Dumb piece of shit!!!!!!!!

  • @resculptit actually the praying part of crossing the river is one of the only things that is historically accurate. It is said that the airborne troops actually did pray the hail mary while crossing the river because of the danger in crossing during daylight.

  • @resculptit Plus he's not even saying the Rosary correctly in the first place, he's just repeating the first line over and over again lol; probably just some protestant repeating what he'd seen in a movie with Bing Crosby as a priest. ;)

  • @tjhoenecke we are all god's children - Peace Out!

  • @aloreburne "Yes, but some of us are a little more childish than others." Father Francis Mulcahey, 4077 MASH :P

  • @resculptit You sure about that?

  • @resculptit Ooh really ? War could turn an atheist in a religious person. The only thing certain in combat is that you are going to get blown to bits or the other guy is.

  • @resculptit thats because you have never been shot at. You'd be surprised how many people turn to God when they are scared.

  • Thanks for posting these. My all time favorite war film. And yes that was an epic fail:O

  • @1994Topgear A BIG FAIL AT 5.08 HARDY KRUGER! SOMEONE I THINK CUT THE WIRE!- OR I THINK THE AMERICANS DID IT OR THE GERMANS FORGOT TO GROUND THE WIRE - WHO KNOWS!

  • Now that they didn't need to worry about the Germans shooting at them, couldn't they have just sent more 82nd troops across the river and they could be infantry support for the tanks? The Germans weren't the only ones with a fail that day...

  • @pablononescobar I know it was just a joke :L

  • @pablononescobar Did you miss the part where all those troops in the 82nd were killed just during the crossing? Besides, the 82nd had already spent most of its strength at Nijmegen, and worn-out paratroopers don't exactly make the best infantry support for an armored assault on a city -- which is kind of why paratroopers tend to parachute into cities from above, rather than make a frontal assault down a road, whether they have armor support or not.

  • The sound the German soldier makes at 1:42 is heartbreaking.

  • where is the fail part?

  • I live near oosterbeek And Ede.Near the landing zones and fierce fightings.

i have also found many ww2 relics with my MD.But its forbidden to go metal detecting due to explosives.i have many german helmets,Insignes, bullets, and an MG 42.As for american items.A BAR a helmet, and a flare pistol

  • To take something is easier than to retake.

  • I wish the Fail part was actually in the movie

  • hahahaha I almost soiled my underwear at the fail part XD

  • fail! :p

  • oh yeah the officer at 8:14 the british officer is Lord Carrington he got a MC awarded for his part in the capture and holding of a vital bridge in Nijmegen.he is the one saying no to julian.

  • @xwingclass understandable decision by Carrington, for all he knew there was a whole SS panzer divsion ahead of him, his vehicles would indeed be sitting ducks on the road even if there where only a couple of anti tank guns or panzers(in reality there was only 1 gun between them and Frosts men at Arnhem but this was unknown to the guards).

  • @Barre76 obviously you are right looking at history there were a panzer group there just out side arnhem. but the point i wanted to make is at least have a go to punch through i relise youdont have infantry for surport.

  • @Barre76 A recce patrol could have answered that question don't you think?

  • @Sabreur64 yes off course but the question still remains even if they did push ahead would they be able to hold long to there gains long enough without there needed infantry support, the guards took heavy losses up to this point with the germans constantly threatening to cut off there supplies..imo a push but wouldnt have been enough, frosts men where by than close to annihilation as well..

  • @Barre76 A question for you. If the positions had been reversed and it had been the Falschrimjager holding Arnhem bridge and the SS panzer divisions had been tasked with relieving them do you think the SS would have stopped for a moment to consider the situation or pressed on regardless of casualties?

  • @Sabreur64 good question and indeed i dont think the SS would hesitate but than again the SS where often reckless and this caused alot of unnescesarry casualties on there side.i am not defending the guards decision but i am trying to understand what the commander must have felt, but indeed it is a bit tragic to see what happend after the heroic capture of nijmegen bridge.but it is always easy to come to conclusions with hindsight, in 1944 things where alot different though.

  • @Barre76 Sometimes you need to be reckless. And given they were only 1 mile away from the bridge I think this was such an occasion. I guess we'll never know now what would have happened had they pushed on towards the bridge.

  • @Sabreur64 Well think about it, they had lost so many soldiers and tanks and resources by that time, and the most of the British were either surrounded or captured or had surrendered, so had they have made the push it would have probably been a very hollow victory, but then, they would have still captured Arnhem bridge, what was the key prize but i guess we'll never know.

  • julian said later that the smoke didnt help at all there was more smoke if you had 20 odd men smoking a cig totally useless.

  • FAIL XD
