  • Hi, I'm getting a curl from Jerry Jennings in 2 weeks! I'm very excited. I own a Grey now who is 3 years old. I need some advice on a good cage, do you have a link to the one you purchased for your bird? And any ideas how to get the birds introduced to give me the best chance they'll get along? Any help you can give you would be great.

  • just joined. membership pending. does yours fly around the house or does he calm down with age? how long before they get there beak colors?

  • I was also looking into a curl crested aricari. I have a cockatiel and an amazon, do you think they would get along? They are both very well behaved. Also i was looking at where you got him and how did he get to you? Did you pick him up or was he shipped? Thanks.

  • @McGANGSTAWALRUS

They can learn to get along with other birds if you accustom them to the birds when they are still babies.

I'd suggest you go pick your bird up if you live in California. Otherwise, you'd have to have it shipped.

Rocky--the bird in the video--is now three years old and very bonded to me. We were just watching TV on the couch with my dogs.

  • @1kanamekun1 I just got a curl and was wondering if its ok to clip the wing. did you clip yours?

  • @MrRicklig I do not clip my aracari's wings. Some of my friends with aracaris clip them slightly, but I don't. Join the Yahoo TOUCANS group and you can discuss it with many aracari and toucan owners.

  • Hi! I see that your Curl has a purple band from Jerry @ EFMG. I recently got my Curl from Jerry too. He, 'Marley', is now 8 mos old, and also has a purple band. According to Jerry, he color codes the bands (per species) and tags his birds by the breeding parents .. so our birds have the same parents, although born at different times. Marley is his brother! I don't have any video of him yet but would be glad to send you a couple pics if you like ... my email is CEAracari@aol.com

  • So cute..Im gunna be getting a Green Aracari very soon and Im so excited I can hardly, wait..

  • Good luck with your green. Who are you getting it from?

  • I am curious to how the little one is doing now as well.

  • He's doing just great and has become a full-fledged family member. I highly recommend this species as a pet. I'll try to make another video of him soon.

  • I sent you a message I hope you can reply to it? I love your little guy!! I would love to see an update on how he is doing what you ended up naming him? and how he is fitting in. What kind of Aracari is your other bird? do you have any other animals? Any down side to this little guy apart from the cost LOL.

  • Sorry, I just saw your message today. The baby curl, now named Rocky, is doing fine. There are no downsides with him at all. I have another pet aracari, a male green aracari, and a pet Swainson's toucan, Jimmy. You can see a video of Jimmy on YouTube by searching "Toucan Whisperer."

  • The first small toucan I encountered (crimson rumped toucanet) the owner would let fly free outdoors, and it never went far and always came back. I would never let either of my toucanets fly outside, I'm pretty sure I'd end up losing them, but yours that came back just made me think of that bird. Seems to me that curl cresteds are one of the more calm toucans, would you agree? Anyways he is gorgeous.

  • Wow Jeff he is adorable. Good luck with him.

  • wow, he's so cute. I have a green and he sounds like mine with the cute little sounds!
