I still believe Paul holds many many things in his mind and memories regarding his friendship with John. Nothing sexual or anything of that sort, just VERY intimate. This guy was like his twin soul. They loved each other, not in a romantic way, but ... Just love. It was almost a metaphysical, synergyc connection. The most intense and amazing friendship in showbiz history!!
I love 2.19-2.27.....so sweet their embarrassment 'cause they knew they're in front of the camera.
Also you know...history is a cyrcle...they're not the only 2 UK singers who fighted badly loosing themselves... and regretting for the hidden lost love all the rest of their lives (just read the songs and see my vids) .... until they found themselves again eventually
Yes, he did, according to Carl Perkins. Shortly after John's death, Perkins stayed w/the McCartneys & worked on an album w/Paul. He was inspired to write a song called "My Old Friend" w/the line "won't you think me every now and then". Perkins said when he sang that line, Paul teared up & rushed out of the room. Linda was amazed & told Perkins that was one of the last things John had ever said to Paul.
Please Note: - On the left hand side at the top to the lyrics of “Grow Old With Me” I understand it is written “for Paul” in John's notes along the borders. This indicates many things to many people I can only take the obvious “for Paul”? That memories and a possible collaboration was on John’s mind. Make of it what you will………
I think the same about this song! I can't avoid to think that John is singing to Paul. Especially when he says "I miss you". Now is Paul who can say that. Is such a melancholic song

This is the cleanest version of this song I've run across on YouTube. Hauntingly beautiful. Too bad the surviving Beatles didn't get this one on Anthology 3.

@markmvt yeah it's a shame, I heard they wanted to but it was too hard to get the vocal to sound good

every love song john made from 1968 - 1980 was about yoko, it is no coincedence that this was written over his "lost weekend"
GarsinX 2 years ago
surely he was singing about yoko?
shareschannel 2 years ago
@shareschannel Could be. But one of the last things John ever said to Paul was "Won't you think of me now & then, my old friend?"
MarieNC2 1 year ago 14
@MarieNC2 No, he didn't say that.
