  • Nice video. I am in the middle of doing mine. Did you lower one end of the engine? I could not get the power steering pump or pulley out, even with all bolts removed and looks only possible by lowering transmissn end of engine. Also need suggestion on how to retorque the crankshaft bolt w/ automatic trans?

  • I have a 2000 Daewoo Lanos and have followed your video on the timing belt replacement and timing. I also had to do a valve job. What is the torqing sequence and pounds that the head should be set and the torque for the cams? Please help me out.

  • what miles should it be replaced?

  • @ MasterCollingwood

I got the valves on ebay for about 120 and the gasket set for about 40.

  • switch the motor out with a comparable car like aveo or something

  • How much did it cost to do the valve work and all that? I had a leganza with the same issue and I'm looking at a lanos with the same issue. Cept this time I actually want to get it done. :)

  • the speech is very badly recorded, what a shame!

  • i have a daewoo lanos 2001. i need to replace the big black plastic tubing that the radiator outlet hose and coolant reserve tank and it goes around the back of the engine. i need to know what the piece is called and where i could possibly get it from

  • I love your video. Very well explained. Do you happen to be a full time mechanic or do you do this for your own cars?

  • i have same model. nice video. i already replaced my timing belt on januar 2011

  • i think its cheaper to drive this off a cliff than change the timing belt

  • Dude, your video suckasses...

the tittle... "how to replace timing belt" ??

I don't see any work being done, everything was after the fact... and who taught you how to video anyway... a 2 years old kid??

  • i have 2000 daewoo lanos where i can get parts for this car , thank you

  • need your help men what kind of tools do i need use to remove the cylinder head and cam shaft, thank you from chattanooga , tennessee

  • i have daewoo lanos 2000 automatic spark plug #1 and #4 not firing

  • GOOD INFO ABOUT HOW TO INSTALL TIMING BELT.... LOVED THE SOUND OF THE CAR... WISH COULD DRIVE THAT CAR!!!!!

  • hi!! how do you take off water pump???

  • I have a 2001 Lanos and my thermostat housing cracked and leaked all the coolant. My car overheated and I blew my valve cover gasket and my head gasket. Ive had the head resurfaced and everything, brand new gaskets on, everything is ready to go but now I'm doing the timing. In your video @2:24, Are the pulleys for the drive belt and serpentine belts taken off? (From the crankshaft)

  • sure.

  • would it be safe to pressure wash this engine?

  • i need to replace my spark plugs in my 2001 model how do i get the black plastic cover off the engine to access them?

  • Respond to this video...

  • how much did this job cost and how meny mile were on the car when it happened?

  • around 84,000 cost me about $100 or so in parts.

  • I have a Daewoo Lano 98 and it dont start what can it be

  • check three things, compression, spark, fuel.

  • usually when a t belt breaks which this engine is known for will bend all valves and engine will spin over freely like if the spark plugs are out, fuel pumps also known to go out, and by the driver seat left treir is a reset switch......

  • can it run with bent valves?

  • it will run on other cylinders that don't have bent valves, but it will run poorly. It will pop and backfire. If a valve broke off inside it will not turn over.

  • where is the fan belt on this car i cant find mine

  • this dos not have a fan belt. the fans are electric.

  • it has one Drive Belt and one Serpatine belt where are they located?

  • i have a 01 lanos sedan how will i know when to replace it i hear at 40k it snaps if that is the case im less than 500 miles from that happening

  • usually u don't have to replace timing belts til around 60k

  • do i HAVE to replace the water pump, tensioners and pullys or can i just replace the TIMING BELT alone?

  • Thank you so much for posting! I have an '02 Lanos and know I have to change timing belt soon, even though I only have 52k I hear the timing belts were weak. How did you tighten the water pump? Did you have to buy a special tool? Also, have you had to replace wheel bearings yet? That's another big job on the Lanos, and my wheel bearings are SHOT despite low mileage. Thanks again!

  • @peeweecee you will need to rotate the water pump with the pump tool. I built my own tool to rotate the pump. You will need to clean up the mating surfaces and get new pump, unless you can find a o ring for replacement, better to just put in new pump. they are not too expensive.

  • Thank you for the comment. Since I was able to get the parts from a japanese import parts house, i purchased the valves and head gasket for $61, and the timing belt for $37. I did the work so it saved me, however since this is a dual overhead cam setup a regular valve spring compressor will not work. You need to custom make a tool and use a drill press, or buy a special tool from matco, snapon etc... to remove the valve springs from the DOHC head.

  • I own a 1998 Lanos 1.5 and my belt broke a few days ago. I was lucky it only bended 2 valves and the final repair cost including the parts was 600 bucks. The car is over 100k miles and this is the first time i replaced it lol.
