  • Stich-Randall really excelled in evoking rapt ecstasy in the music that calls for it, such as this stunningly beautiful farewell to life and welcoming of death by Richard Strauss; this recording, also stunningly conducted by Maestro Laszlo Somogyi, takes me to another, better world. I also am able to understand every single word, such is her gorgeous enunciation of the text. This joins my favorite ever recordings of it, along with Schwarzkopf/Szell and Flagstad/Furtwangler.

  • I had been a long-time Schwarzkopf-adept in the Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder, recently I was bowled over by the Lucia Popp rendition. TSR's performance here has to be counted among the very best with a particular remark that the entire text can be understood word for word - vying with the Schwarzkopf and Popp performances for first place..

    Stunningly sumptuous performance

    I am totally over-awed!
