As much a diehard Z3M coupe fan, I know the Z4M has had a lot of the bugs worked out that plagued the e36/8 chassis. On a track the Z4 should pull a bit on the Z3 unless the Z3 has had the updates on the frame. At this point I infact know its a drivers race. Both are incredible little Bread Vans and should be respected. The Z4 is great but I love the Z3M. To each their own. We in the states suffer from up our arse syndrom where all the auto makers stuff it up our arse.

why so aggressively defensive? and nothing you have just stereotyped or hypothesized has any real bearing on the video. the fact is that it was just a race and no one (to your knowledge) was trying to prove anything. besides, name-calling is a bit juvenile, so how old are you? usually people who have the money to own a car with its price tag are smart and mature enough to avoid pointless squabbling over video post on youtube...
it was guess work on my part as i knew the U.S E36 m3 had a very different & less powerfull engine than the Euro version.... it was just a comment to piss off that trulyspirtual cocksucker!
...or rather you should take a ruler and a lever and put them up to the screen dumb*ss. You can see that the Z4 pulls ahead of the Z3 from the beginning and maintains that distance. If you go sideways from the level of the tail lights, bottom and top of the Z3 to the left over to the car on the right(the Z4) you'll notice how all three of those levels are higher and ever increasing on the Z4 all the way to the end. I'm an engineer but I suppose today I'm teaching physics to a monkey.
The Z3M won 2 out of three. This video was taken during a feature by Performance Tuner magazine and Total BMW which both concluded that the modded Z3M was better round the track.
actually I wouldn't be surprised if the old m coupe won in a straight line. It is lighter than the new one by at least 200 lbs. Many of the reviews on the new one have pointed this out as well.

it only has 80 more hp but it is also a bit heavier. the 2001-2002 U.S. models had 315 hp compared to the 321hp of the euro z3 m

I heard a brittish accent. So it was probably a euro s50 z3 which would of been 25hp short of the z4.
In which case the outcome was correct; the z4 was about 1 car length ahead (from what I could see).
