I like many people took accutane. I had severe acne. Within 6 months it was GONE after all the years of suffering. Flash forward 2 years down the road and I have been diagnosed with Ulceritive Colitis. Multiple ER trips and a week in the hospital, they almost had to remove my colon.The reason: Taking accutane.

No matter how bad my acne was nothing is worse the result of taking it. This is a painful lifelong disease.

this is just wrong, ive had accutane and im happier than ive ever been. my acne is completely gone and i just had dry lips and eyes in the beggining

Who wants to bet that these two hacks have never dealt with acne? It is sooooo frustrating trying to explain to someone who has never suffered from acne just how detrimental this disease can be to one's quality of life. In my case, acne has completely controlled my life for about the past 10 years and I am planning on taking accutane as a last ditch effort.

One more thing.... who do you think seems more credible? These assholes or Robin Gehris (interview in sidebar). Says it all...

Try this one on for size, you are worried about people killing themselves while taking the drug? Think of all the people that would kill themselves if they DIDNT take the drug. I'm on accutane right now and my only side effect is dryness. Acne is ruining my life, and this drug will give me my life back. So all you people with perfect skin, stop trying to get this drug off the market or you could be killing countless more people who suffer from depression related to their acne. NOT the medication

@cujokev900 Acne was ruining my life in high school. I tried tetracycline then minocyline, then finally acutane. It worked wonders for my skin, BUT I now have inflammatory bowel syndrome and that has been, and will continue to ruin the rest of my life. Trust me, the acne was better. I know nothing else really works, but people should still try the natural route. Since you posted 8 months ago you're done with the acutane. I hope you're still healthy, consider yourself lucky if you are

@blahlalaify I'm sorry you suffer fromnflammatory bowel syndrome. Nobody should ever have to go through that. I used Accutane for 3 months last summer. Do you know if they stopped putting the harmful chemicals in the drug that cause these diseases or are they still putting them in?

im currently on this drug also known as isotretinoin and it has really helped me alot. yes it has side affects but doesn't any drug? the side affects im experiencing are dry eyes and lips. i was prescribed this drug by a dermatologist, and while your on it they monitor you. i have to be seen every month, i have blood tests and they make sure its working for me and i have seen a real improvement in my skin also if i did have any major "its gonna kill me" side affects then they would sort it out.

Why do people hate accutane so much!!! my dr. has the total opposite attitude, yea there are side effects but not every person experience those side effects

dear tobrien, maybe they hate it because they have realized they made a mistake, just swallowed poison out of desperation. it has "main" effects for a veeery long time, don't think that because RIGHT NOW you don't see them clearly that they don't exist. I did 2 courses of roacuttan when i didn't know better, at 14 and 16 years old. Now, 30, out of desperation tried it 3rd time.. was a very bad thing to do:SEVERE DEPRESSION. Now I AM SOOO HAPPY I COULDN'T TELL YOU.
