Lucid is not a good beginner absinthe. Obsello is a good starter - naturally sweet. I've moved on to Delaware Phoenix now - stuff is delicious. Very floral.
Burning the sugar is not only dangerous, as you can set your wife on fire, but also ruins the good taste of absinthe. Your not even supposed to put sugar with absinthe if its a really high quality bottle.

I think they said it was like 68 dollars or something. the bottle said it was 138 proof, so we knew it was going to taste like shit. we did the water dripping over sugar cube thing, but then realized it tastes better without the sugar. its pretty harsh stuff, but it wasnt too bad. each of us drank about 5 shots of the stuff, and I barely felt buzzed...not sure why. maybe next time I'll have better luck.
if you buy absinthe in the U.S it's not real absinthe and doesn't have THUJONE in it. Thujone can be found in absinthe made in europe and is the element that made it famous. it has the same chemical compounds as pot. it gets you trippy. i order mine from france and have it shipped fed ex.

I hope you tried some real absinthe by now. I'm not trying to hate or anything. I'm just saying that you can get the real stuff (for a hefty price though, but still worth every penny). Thank gods you didn't burn it. It would ruin it. I would suggest either Mansinthe or Strong 68. Neither of them tastes or smells like NyQuil.

I just picked upa bottle of Mansinthe( mansons line) it has the wormwood and Thujone. !40 proof.
Just poured tap water into the first time. But i plan to do it proper from now on.

I drank absinthe one night with a couple of friends. they paid out the ass for it! I think they said it was like 68 dollars or something. the bottle said it was 138 proof, so we knew it was going to taste like shit. we did the water dripping over sugar cube thing, but then realized it tastes better without the sugar. its pretty harsh stuff, but it wasnt too bad. each of us drank about 5 shots of the stuff, and I barely felt buzzed...not sure why. maybe next time I'll have better luck.

if you buy absinthe in the U.S it's not real absinthe and doesn't have THUJONE in it. Thujone can be found in absinthe made in europe and is the element that made it famous. it has the same chemical compounds as pot. it gets you trippy. i order mine from france and have it shipped fed ex.

it's totally and completely false that absinthe causes hallucinations, it has been proven over and over again scientifically, either in surviving XIX century absinthe bottle either in todays modern brands of real absinthe.

“The traditional way?” umm, slow the fuck down! First, stop shaking so much, it’s only a bottle of knock off absinthe the American government likes to call lucid. Second, control your drip. It doesn’t happen right away and you ruined a good glass of knock off (better to act accordingly anyway) you added way too much water! Let the cube soak up the ice water, then pour to melt it.

I had some La Fee a couple of weeks ago, and it's delicious. It doesn't taste like cough medicine once it's mixed right at 4-5:1. I would spend money on this stuff again, though the price is quite dear.

Try CZ ( Czech Republic ) absinthe like: Absinthium 1792 ( Trul Distilery ) or KING OF SPIRITS ABSINTHE (L`OR Distillery) ... and you must drink this on the bohemian method ( not the traditional one )... then you will feel the bite of the green fairy . Best regards! Tarles ( Romania )

Actually Lucid IS real absinthe. Real Absinthe is now legal in the US. Lucid may not be considered the primo absinthe available but it iS real...

'Cause I know absinthe is now legal but American government kind of, 'filters' authentic absinthe to something they call 'real absinthe' which is infact not original. It's basically been processed to some degree in order for it to agree with the USDA standards...they take out the good stuff lol...

Yup positive. Just like you can buy Mansinthe (put out by Marilyn Manson) which is true Absinthe. Even the company Absente which USED to not contain true wormwood, now has a label which says, "now with wormwood!" All the bans were lifted like a year or 2 back...

I think most absinthe comes from Europe cuz they're the ones who know how to make it and had a history of doing so. google Delaware Phoenix distillery for an American company which is suppsoed to be good....

Ah well, it's not for everyone. Shame though. If you get the chance, you should try another brand, since no two are alike, and Lucid is a little odd (although generally not bad), so perhaps something else will be more to your taste.

there are two legal absinths in the US already, one of them is the Lucid absinth, made in Oregon. the law was passed on 2007 i think, there is also new one called Mansinth by Marilyn Manson, who was drinking it since the Antichrist Superstar era,don't know how he was getting it, or he consumed at Europe were it was legal already.
