  • I don't quite think these guys "got" the movie...

  • Afraid my mind was made up to avoid this flick once I'd seen the trailer, and after viewing the movie I think most people felt a lil sucker punched.

  • they should called the movie The animatrix the live action movie "alice 2.0"

  • the films far-fetched, the characters were bland and the dialouge sucked. the story was so lame and pointless, and unfortunately, the fantasy world has NOTHING to do with the story, better luck next time, zack snyder

  • MAN WEARING 'FIREFLY' T-SHIRT!!!HE IS SOME MAN FOR ONE MAN!!

  • critics suck

  • You guys didn't even post your Oscar predictions this year. What the heck!!!

  • @365daysgone they did them in podcast form this year at lawrence dot com

  • Movie looks lame, girls look hot.

    Great review.

  • wow! its funny to me that they really didn't get it. it is visually stunning and while I can't say there was much character development there was a point to the movie. its almost like they are damning the movie because they didn't get it. Its like beating up someone just because he is smarter than you. too bad. wont be listening to these guys anymore.

  • @godhandninja we got it, alright, its just that Snyder didn't have anything to say. It pretends to be about girl power, yet all the girls are running around half naked in a slave-driving brothel. Tacking on a bunch of pretentious voice-over nonsense about angels and self-realization doesn’t get Snyder off the hook for a movie that doesn’t realize how wrongheaded, humorless and offensive it really is.

  • @SceneStealers you assume it was about girl power. But it is very apparent that is was more about realizing that you have the means to escape a harsh reality. They where never "half naked". And the only reason one person imagined it a brothel was because thats what the asylum was in her imagination. She imagined a less harsh reality while also dealing with the truth of her life that she knew she couldn't escape. Making it easier to live. this is what I mean by you didn't get it.

  • @godhandninja you realize that everything you just said proves my point, right? "realizing that you have the means to escape a harsh reality" is the self-realization I talked about above. Also, lingerie and underwear counts as "half naked."

  • @SceneStealers hmm I guess I am going to have to get into specifics now. When you said "Tacking on" that would imply that the self -realization meaning was more of an afterthought. but it wasn't it was conveyed through the whole movie. Also, I am not really sure when they were in "lingerie and underwear". Seriously they wore nylons and leotards. They wore what dancers would wear at a ballet or dance recital. And can you really count armor, spandex and leather as "half naked"?

  • @godhandninja Whether the self-realization motif in the film was tacked on before or after Snyder first imagined the script idea doesn't really matter, because it didn't work. I applaud the fact that he tried to make something more out of it than a skimpy-outfitted-hotties-kicking-ass movie, but I maintain that he failed because that idea is completely at odds with what we were presented. I "got" what he was going for -- it just didn't work.

  • @spiral16software first you say that you "got" it but then you say "it didn't work". I think you might be a little confused. It worked just fine. The self-realization was never tacked on before or after. If you pay attention to what going on you can see that it is all throught the movie. Honestly, the only thing the movie did was not spell it out for its audience. Although I'm sure if it did then critics would complain that it insulted there intelligence. There is just not pleasing some people.

  • @godhandninja No problem there: I got what he was trying to say and that theme doesn't work because of the way he told the story. Simple as that. Same problem with Watchmen. I think Snyder is incapable of staying consistent with any theme,. His fetishes are always at odds with the storytelling. I don't think you should start critic-bashing. It's not just critics that think the movie is terrible; it's tanking at the box office too...

  • @SceneStealers aw come on man! You know one of the reasons its tanking at the box office is because of all the bad reviews its getting. And anyway how does it tanking mean that people don't like it. don't people have to see it first in order to decide wether they like it or not. Watchman was pretty much done like the graphic novel except for the end. so what do you mean he had the same problem. He stayed as true to the source material as he could for a movie. 300 was the same. explain please.

  • @godhandninja Oh boy. Now you've opened a whole can of worms. Watchmen was just like Sucker Punch in that the movie's style was completely antithetical to the point it was supposed to be making. There are no superpowers among any of the heroes (outside of Dr. M), yet they were shot 100% like they had them. This undermines the entire story, because its supposed to be about normal people who are psychologically disturbed enough to put on costumes and fight crime. Snyder's fetish again ruining it.

  • @SceneStealers that is an interesting perspective but I disagree. watchman was about Superheroes who where pressured to become ordinary by society. some of them abused there power and some tried to become God as a result. all Snyder did was fill what happened inbetween panels for the movie. Sequential artists have to convey a whole scene in just a few panelsMovies don't have that limitation. sounds like to me you already had your mind made up about Snyder before you even seen suckerpunch.

  • "The Mountain-Due version of girl power."

    -LOLz

  • i think thay have taken it too serious is it after all just a movie

  • Dude! What happened to the great looking video you guys were shooting for a while there? Funny review though.

  • @kmcleod31721 Good question--here's the deal. ts become increasingly harder with the restrictions placed on clips for movies on YouTube, so lately we've been trying reviews without clips. This one was just shot on a different camera and compressed weird cuz it was the first time we used it.

  • lmao!! good review. Kinda didn't like the part where you said "fetish in Japan"..seems kinda harsh

  • @expIorer5148 well the film was definitely inspired partially by anime and I've been to Japan and there most certainly is a young-girl-sexy-outfit fetish there, so...

  • Really wish watchmen is in this after hearing this review

  • First movie to ever get five rock fists way down :L

  • @XIXIPCUNNINGHAMIXIX I bet it got five cock fists way up though.

  • I've missed you guys ss have best reviews :)

  • @m0dm0use thanks! still trying to figure out how to make consistent video reviews when Eric is doing weekly videos on KTKA-TV now and YouTube is cracking down on the use of clips in movies..

  • Best review in a long while. Definitely not going to see Sucker Punch until I can get it on Netflix.

  • @BatteryGraveyard Thank you- We had way too many S-S contributors at the screening, so we just went with all of them in the video...

  • about time!
