Surely the new trylogy explains much of the rise of the empire based on this kind of things...I guess

As a Star Wars fan, this is awesome, of course...but, wasn't the Imperial military based on the Nazis? So, symbolically, isnt this the equivalent of an SS brigade marching through Pasadena, carrying our flag, while all the people are cheering? The marching band certainly looks the part in the officer uniforms :)
