@jasonjinx I use it as a weekly thing, because it builds glutes much better than free squats (and is kinder on the spine). For power, squat reigns, for butt, Smith reigns (in my humble butt-hard opinion!) :)
I totally agree, and I use the Smith squat as a precursor to the real deal. Nothing builds strength and tone like a real squat, but for many of my women, it's very intimidating. This helps them get their feet wet! Thanks!
Well explained. You do it very nicely technically, but I think people should learn the barbell squat. A nice starter for women is dumbell squats to a bench. Provided they do it like you prescribe, a smith squat is okay, but you don't get the benefit of balancing the weight as in a free squat. Also important to emphasize not to go too heavy in the smith squat.
I like the barbell myself but yea this would be good for a woman starting out.
