No, seriously, they've become incredibly generic since Seasons. Like listen to their first album, it's so innovative. It flows so well. It's not the same shit over again. The vocals vary. The sounds vary. They sound cool as fuck.
On Next and Alpha, it's the same monotonous shit song after song. I actually find it physically difficult to listen to.
There's a huge difference between the unpredictable, thoughtful stuff on the first 3 or 4 albums, and the mass-produced, generic shit on Alpha and Next.
I have to say I agree with you as well. Alpha has some very good songs - Driven, Deathstar and Under come to mind - but Story of Your Life IMO is terrible. And half of Next's songs are worse than b-sides from previous albums. Seasons may have been their "least" metal album, but it had consistency. Animosity is still their magnum opus I think.

They did. "Burn" is easily their longest, most epic track. "Alpha" is their fastest and angriest. "Deathstar", "Clueless", and "Aggression" don't sound like any other Sevendust song I can think of. I can hear differences in their sound from album to album.
The lyrics are delivered in a schizophrenic manner from fear and paranoia in the verses to melancholy in the chorus, which probably contributes to the song's meaning.
The chorus is said only five times in the song, - just like on "Crucified" and "Face to Face"- and if the variegated instrumentation used at the end of "Burn" (piano, salt shakers, rain sounds) is not innovation for Sevendust then I don't know what is.
And that's if you completely disregarded the other songs I mentioned, which do not remind me much of the Sevendust formula that you don't want them to stick to.

i was looking at sevendust on wiki and it says of october 3 or 5 morgan permantly quit the band. i dont believed this because he co-founded the band and sevendust would suck he wasnt in it

So I was a little harsh. But I do like Morgan's screaming on every song. If it weren't for Morgan the band would be way to soft. Even Lajon could get back to singing like this, then they wouldn't have to compensate with Morgan.

The last two albums--this song included--has been a return to Sevendust's heavy tone-driven music that forged their debut album and Home. I hope they remain EXACTLY the same. Innovation - hah! No, seriously, they've become incredibly generic since Seasons. Like listen to their first album, it's so innovative. It flows so well. It's not the same shit over again. The vocals vary. The sounds vary. They sound cool as fuck.
On Next and Alpha, it's the same monotonous shit song after song. I actually find it physically difficult to listen to.

I have to say I agree with you as well. Alpha has some very good songs - Driven, Deathstar and Under come to mind - but Story of Your Life IMO is terrible. And half of Next's songs are worse than b-sides from previous albums. Seasons may have been their "least" metal album, but it had consistency. Animosity is still their magnum opus I think.

They did. "Burn" is easily their longest, most epic track. "Alpha" is their fastest and angriest. "Deathstar", "Clueless", and "Aggression" don't sound like any other Sevendust song I can think of. I can hear differences in their sound from album to album.

"Burn" is NOT innovation! It is incredibly short verses with no meaning and then chorus after chorus just copied and pasted in! It's pure shit.

The lyrics are delivered in a schizophrenic manner from fear and paranoia in the verses to melancholy in the chorus, which probably contributes to the song's meaning.
The chorus is said only five times in the song, - just like on "Crucified" and "Face to Face"- and if the variegated instrumentation used at the end of "Burn" (piano, salt shakers, rain sounds) is not innovation for Sevendust then I don't know what is.

How do they do it. Each song BELONGS to it's album. This belongs to Alpha, it would not fit in any other album.
Honesty could only ever fit in Seasons, Crumbled could only ever fit in Home. Yet it always sounds like Sevendust through and through, amazing.

hahahaha! This Song is hilarious! It's just them messing around. If you were in a band, you would know, that it relieves stress, by making songs that are funny, with funny lyrics. Believe me! And, shit, I think this a great song! It kicks some ass! One of their best songs.....:)

great music, horrible lyrics... I know most of 7D's material isn't exactly what you would call "deep", but this is just horrendous. don't get me wrong - I love Sevendust, but this is obviously not one of their best tracks... the whole album kicks ass though.

I actually would say that 7d's lyrics are some of the most personal and thought out you can think of, post-Home at least. Go listen to the majority of Animosity, Seasons, Next and Alpha. Very deep in a lot of their songs -- not all, but a lot
