the hamster was confused. When it walked the robot either rotated, or moved the direction the ball was rotating. You would need to make both wheels move forward/reverse, one less than the other when the ball on top goes any direction other than straight.

Does the robot move faster than the ball moves without the robot? If not, then I don't see how this is practical. It needs some mod's like a watergun or something. Another cool mod would be an ejector that releases the ball when the robot runs out of juice, kinda like the way the Batcycle comes out of the Batmobile.

The problem with this is you used a hamster. Hamsters are stupid so they just sorta roll around at random. Try using a Degu. These marsupials are about as smart as a cat and would probably learn pretty quickly they are driving something and do so purposefully.

Actually... hamster balls have been around for a long time... A way of letting the hamster (or other small furry) walk around the house without running away/getting eaten by other pets (cats/dogs). This just combined two technologies to make a hamster powered vacuum.
