F Y I the z06 pulls 1.03 g on the skid pad to the s2000's .89g. so the vette handles much better and would be significantly faster on a race track. the s2000 was honda's best competition for the z06. the only real competition is the nissan GTR for around $9,000 more. the z06 is a bargain dont let it piss you off. thats because they're talking about engine displacement not total displacement. im guessing its around 6.0 liters because i know that a 6-71 blower is 6.6 liters and approximately a 200 hp gain,a stock s2000 makes 240 hp and they said that it makes 460 in the vid. which means it has to be at least two to three times the size of the engine. the lesson here padawan.... is that naturally aspirated engines have better displacement to power ratios and there is no replacement for displacement. =)

To add to my last post. Europian and asian countries have done wonders to get the amount of power they do from small displacements because they have to avoid HUGE taxes placed on engines of big displacements like the v8's we have here. Doesn't matter how efficient the engine is (the LS7 does get up to 30mpg HWY believe it or not) if it's displacing big cubes it's getting taxed HEAVILY. .
You know the only reasons that 4cyl makes as much power as it does, is the high rpm redline, good flowing cyl heads, the high valve lift of v-tec, and the turbo of course. Don't try to make the LS7 out as an out-dated POS just because its hp/L is not good, or what ever that dumb logic is some of you like to throw out their. The LS7 is in fact a high tech engine while retaining the simplicity and compact size of an OHV v8.
The S2 is nice, but it's definitely outclassed in this shootout. Overall, ya might save a little going with the S2 plus mods, but of course, that depends on how far you're taking it.
1) at the first try the vette could not pull that hard because:
1st gear runs to 95kph
2nd runs just to 140kph
the result is the S2000 wins ... for sure - but that´s not because the Vette is not as strong - it is because he had to accelerate from about 1500rpm and he also had to shift at already 140kph.
next time try it from a dig and you will see what happens ;) stupid ricer.

if you really think that S2 is maxed out you are greatly mistaking. Inline pro is the only shop to really max out a s2000 sort of. they almost maxed out in the boost section. The old one in texas they maxed out a S2k's all motor potential. they put down 400whp at 9200rpm and redlined at 12000.

It's sad that they were garbage for a long time and just recently they make good mid-high performance cars like the current base C06, Z06, ZR1, Viper ACR and then they all start to go out of business. Can't say much for the new challenger, but the 2010 mustang and camaro are pretty impressive for the price.

turbo isnt a major mod??? ok lets see... turbo manifold, gaskets, actual good turbo at 22psi, tranny, and internal build in order to handle that turbo from stock... you are a know nothing anonymous8008... If you put a turbo pushing 22psi on any car you have to mod the hell out of it unless you wanna blow everything from your motor down to the axles if you keep it all stuck but the manifolds and exhaust since these are must's if you want to install a turbo...

You can no longer say that an 8 cylinder turbo car will "always" outrun a 4 cylinder turbo car. I have a 4 cyl. An 03 evo gsr to be exact. And I do long races. starting from a roll. About 3/4 of a mile. And I never lost to any v8,v10,or v12. I'm talking 180mph for me. new z06/n20. Viper/supercharged, cl65amg/mods. and so on. Don't believe look at one of my videos. Anyway the s2000 would be in front until it tops out. Of course the s2000 cant do 200mph. So dont state the obvious.
A turbo for a Z06 would not be considerably higher than for an S2000. In 2004(Only year I can find quick stats for...), only 5683 Z06 corvettes were made. More S2000s were sold in the U.S. from 2000-2002. In fact, over 9000 were sold between '01 and '02... In 2001 3400 were sold.

Well the S2k is a 4-banger and it can rev up higher faster. A vette has to drag 4 extra pistons. Im not taking the side of the S2k I own a vette and a from a roll it's fast but it does not rev as quick as a 4-banger. Vette can easily beat that S2k with the right mods. But over all a really nice race.

Thats a very amazing S2000! Hangin with a tricked z06 is no easy feat. Remember, with those mods on the s2000 it will almost cost as much as the z06. And if it doesn't have that much put into it, aka (forged crank, pistons ect..) The engine won't last much longer. Good Races though Honda and Chevy both make some incredible cars.

To add to my last post. Europian and asian countries have done wonders to get the amount of power they do from small displacements because they have to avoid HUGE taxes placed on engines of big displacements like the v8's we have here. Doesn't matter how efficient the engine is (the LS7 does get up to 30mpg HWY believe it or not) if it's displacing big cubes it's getting taxed HEAVILY. .

You know the only reasons that 4cyl makes as much power as it does, is the high rpm redline, good flowing cyl heads, the high valve lift of v-tec, and the turbo of course. Don't try to make the LS7 out as an out-dated POS just because its hp/L is not good, or what ever that dumb logic is some of you like to throw out their. The LS7 is in fact a high tech engine while retaining the simplicity and compact size of an OHV v8.

1) at the first try the vette could not pull that hard because:
1st gear runs to 95kph
2nd runs just to 140kph
the result is the S2000 wins ... for sure - but that´s not because the Vette is not as strong - it is because he had to accelerate from about 1500rpm and he also had to shift at already 140kph.
next time try it from a dig and you will see what happens ;) stupid ricer.

if you really think that S2 is maxed out you are greatly mistaking. Inline pro is the only shop to really max out a s2000 sort of. they almost maxed out in the boost section. The old one in texas they maxed out a S2k's all motor potential. they put down 400whp at 9200rpm and redlined at 12000.

It's sad that they were garbage for a long time and just recently they make good mid-high performance cars like the current base C06, Z06, ZR1, Viper ACR and then they all start to go out of business. Can't say much for the new challenger, but the 2010 mustang and camaro are pretty impressive for the price.
I'm a big fan of the 77/78 TA myself even though they are slow as dirt. Smokey and the Bandit fan!

Elite, yeah the 77/78 "hot air" turbo was slow, but the 1989 intercooled Trans am with the GN's 3.8 V6 was amazing.
I was always impressed with the Roush Mustang since it focused on handling. Believe it or not, it out handled an M3, but the price is way up there.
We needed turbo V6s and well balanced cars, but they disappeared for over a decade.
I could only imagine if the kept going on with the GN; how would it have evolved?
Yes, I also grew up on Smokey and the Bandit as a kid.

turbo isnt a major mod??? ok lets see... turbo manifold, gaskets, actual good turbo at 22psi, tranny, and internal build in order to handle that turbo from stock... you are a know nothing anonymous8008... If you put a turbo pushing 22psi on any car you have to mod the hell out of it unless you wanna blow everything from your motor down to the axles if you keep it all stuck but the manifolds and exhaust since these are must's if you want to install a turbo...

There's more to the whole package that 4 vs 8 cylinder, turbo vs. naturally aspirated... there is also weight to consider. You can no longer say that an 8 cylinder turbo car will "always" outrun a 4 cylinder turbo car. It's a matter of which one has a better power to weight ratio, and/or, which ever one spends the most money to overcome a disadvantaged power to weight ratio. Ariel Atom anyone? (My point)

a 4 banger beats a LS7 is an accomplishment, why some fail to realize that is beyond me. Yes if you boost the LS7 is wouldn't be a race. Although I would say slapping a turbo on a s2K is more common then someone doing it to an LS7. Therefore when the run in do happen its great to see the look on someones face when owning a V8 and getting owned. Don't get me wrong. I know you can make some of these cars fast, but a V8 will always beat a 4cyl when equally built. Torque is king.
You could build an old Nova or Chevelle with a 6.0L turbo LSx motor with 600 horsepower for probably half the cost of the S2000.

I have a 4 cyl. An 03 evo gsr to be exact. And I do long races. starting from a roll. About 3/4 of a mile. And I never lost to any v8,v10,or v12. I'm talking 180mph for me. new z06/n20. Viper/supercharged, cl65amg/mods. and so on. Don't believe look at one of my videos. Anyway the s2000 would be in front until it tops out. Of course the s2000 cant do 200mph. So dont state the obvious.

A turbo for a Z06 would not be considerably higher than for an S2000. In 2004(Only year I can find quick stats for...), only 5683 Z06 corvettes were made. More S2000s were sold in the U.S. from 2000-2002. In fact, over 9000 were sold between '01 and '02... In 2001 3400 were sold.

Well the S2k is a 4-banger and it can rev up higher faster. A vette has to drag 4 extra pistons. Im not taking the side of the S2k I own a vette and a from a roll it's fast but it does not rev as quick as a 4-banger. Vette can easily beat that S2k with the right mods. But over all a really nice race.

Thats a very amazing S2000! Hangin with a tricked z06 is no easy feat. Remember, with those mods on the s2000 it will almost cost as much as the z06. And if it doesn't have that much put into it, aka (forged crank, pistons ect..) The engine won't last much longer. Good Races though Honda and Chevy both make some incredible cars.

110 octane and 22 pound of boost only for that octane means that honda has high compression ratio for a 22 ibs boost engine. no wonder it didnt seem to have much lag

i don't get why people think a fair comparison is a big 5.7 or 7.0L V8 vs. a 2.0 L I4 motor. All North American cars require a huge motor just to beat foreign cars. They use size to make up for lack of technology.

lack of technology? LSX series engine are insane. you can build up a all engine LS1 to just about 500 rwhp... all engine. run forced induction, like twin turbos, and the output jumps close to the 1200-1400 mark, i cant imagine what a TT LS7 would make

lol. the corvette already has an engine twice the size of the s2000. seriously that s2 is an older model that has the F20c. its only 2.0L compared to the vette which is what....? exactly. seriously your comment is a perfect example of poor american ingenuity. you have that big displacement but can only make so much power vs the little engine that produces 100hp/liter. c'mon seriously....
