I don't get why so many of u say that Vayne did not have a motive!
He had the greatest motive! He didn't want infinate power,he was NO mamma's boy, and he didn't want to compress time into 1 convenient ball. What Vayne wanted to do was let people live their own lives without GOD!He was sick of "gods" using predestination to plan out their lives. He didn't want peoples successes & failures to be decided by forces beyond their control so he challenged the gods so people could write their own lives
First of all: There is no "mama's boy" in Final Fantasy. NO ONE. And then: This is Final Fantasy. Fantasy-cvillains should be able to compress time, destroy the universe, destroy the existence, et cetera. Vayne just coorperates with an Occuria and was onl powerful because of his airships and the nethicites he used. He didn't absorb any power or wasn't born with his power, no at the end he even fused with an occuria surprisingly. His motive isn't dramatic. It's not fantasy-like. But he is cool.
What a meaningless and sad post. Only fanboys who don't know anything would call the real freaks "fanboys". Pitiful. How pitiful.
So don't even dare to waste my time with you non-existing knowledge and by calling me a fanboy. I bet you are one of the brainless and aggressive fanboys who defend their precious little Kefka and X-Death. I feel sorry for you, boy.
Now, if they had done a villian from 11 and a hero from 12...
Vaan obviously would have been picked for a hero, though he hardly strikes me as the hero type.
As for 11, I believe Kam'lanaut would have been a good choice, or his older brother Eald'narche (though he closely resembles Kuja imo) Post your opinions under this people, what villians from 11 would u have liked to see in dissidia?!
I'd have thought that it's more fitting to put Ashe into FF12 rather than Vaan. The story of FF12 mostly revolves around how she plans to restore her kingdom, although it is told mostly through Vaan's perspective.
Then again, Gabranth DID mortally wound Vaan's brother.
Ashe WAS the main character of FFXII as originally written. They shoehorned Vaan in later to have a plucky teenage male protagonist SE's target audience could identify with.
Why? All the other games have 2 characters! I don't know much about FFXI but I have FFXII and Gabranth isn't even the main villain! It should be Vaan and Vayne from FFXII.
Square-Enix actually addressed that. Jecht is Tidus' arch enemy, even though its not like they chose to be. If they threw Seymour into it, the felt like they woulda had to throw Yuna in as well because he is her main enemy. personally i woulda liked having Seymour, but I suppose I see their point too...
But they SERIOUSLY should have. You fight Seymour 4 times, and you only encounter Jecht ONCE. He doesn't even qualify as a villain, really. And I don't see why it should matter whether characters have personal ties to each other, just pick the main hero and main villain from each game. And there is DEFINATELY no excuse for only having one character from XI and XII. EVERY other game has 2!!!
I liked Jecht more than Seymour when I played FFX because he reminded me of my Grandfather.
I'm sorry to say but I'm glad that they put only one character from FFXII because everyone would make videos of
Sephiroth VS. Vaan
Golbez VS. Vaan
Exdeath VS. Vaan etc.
Plus Vaan was hardly the hero type along with Vayne not being a good enough Villain. Also I sorry to all you FFXII fans but I didn't like the story for that game, it was too weak. My favorite Final Fantasy's(in order) are VI,IV, and VII.
While you certainly have good taste in other FFs, I don't see how you could say FFXII's story was weak. Finally we had a really good, well-written story that DIDN'T involve the world in danger of complete annihilation, or terribly cheesy romance subplots, or angsty, crybaby heroes.
I know, I know but It just didn't do it for me. The Characters were way to underdeveloped to get attached to them(I loved Basch and Balthier though). In every Final Fantasy there is always that one character that you didn't really care about and were just kind of there(Cait Sith, Gogo, The Spoony Bard etc.). My problem with FFXII is that half of the people are useless. All you need is Basch, Ashe, and Balthier(Fran is somewhat need i guess). VAYNE NEEDS MORE STORY AND SCREEN TIME!!!
Its Square's idea of the equivalent to one hero/villian from each other title. Vayne didnt make it because no one cared enough. I mean cmon, he wasnt even a huge part of XII's trailers (which all almost only included the judges walking toward the screen)
As for Shantotto, its nice to see a FFXI char in, though her complete abuse of ranged attacks will be funny. Someone more fair like Ayame would have been cool.
as for the possible 2 more characters, if you look at the dissidia website there's 2 more empty blocks. although it seems that shantotto and gabranth are pitted against one other. who knows? I'd love to see Ramza! ^^
Cid is the one doing the Narration of Dissidia FF
durring the credets of the game, when they name the voice actors of each character, the narrators name is shown as
"Narrator/Cid of the Lufaine"
in the PSP emake of FF1 if you talk to sertan villagers in sertan towns they will talk about how Cid, the last Lufaian, was the one who made the first air ship
When Nomura went to the staff of FF11 to see who they would like to be in Dissidia, they all agreed they wanted a Taru. after talking it over with other staff members, as well as manny FF11 players, they concluded the best Taru to use in dissidia was Shantotto.
So yea, Shantotto got in because of a Popularity vote. whine and complain all you want. she got in because programers of the game, and fans of the game, wanted her in.
No doubt it was Gabranth. I mean.. he's on the friggin logo of FFXII. And is pretty much considered the developers favorite. If you notice the huge statue's and what not made after him. :B Just my guess atleast.
I was going for Balthier though, since he is pretty much the fan favorite. But, having Gabranth is awesome too. Fits right in with all of the other armor totin' guys lol.
Just thanks gawd it wasn't Vaan. He's so irrelevant.
i was hopin for montblanc oh well ..i think one more character is to be revealed cos square wer gonna have someone from xiii but it would ruin judgment on game so who knows who will replace that space...wooo gabranth and shantotto(especially shantotto)
Vayne was no were near qualified to be a Final Fantasy Villain. He was barely even in FFXII(which sucks because it would have been cool if he had character development along with some of the other characters). I thought he was no where near as good of a villain as Golbez, Kefka, and Sephiroth(I'm not the biggest fan but he was better) because he was underdeveloped and had less of a motive than any other Final Fantasy character sadly because he could have been such a good character.
Vayne could have been a great villain if he had more of a motive. Kefka was a normal guy who was raised in an orphanage and beaten every day of his life. He graduated at the top of his class. This all changed after he was a test subject to Magitek infusion which eventually degenerated his mind over a coarse of about 10 years driving him to insanity(Playing with dolls, killing people, wearing make up). All we know about Vayne is that he was the emperors son and that he wanted power, but for what?
