Regarding the connection to iblinds. I think iblinds was about next generation entertainment, as indicated in the intro. Indeed, it made next generation entertainment look facinating and horribly impersonal (afterall, they were blinds) at the same time. So does Koyaanisqatsi.

It's amazing how much the music change and the red filter affect the tone of the piece. The original has this thunderous majesty to it, while this is more contemplative and melancholic--like all the terrible stuff foreshadowed in the original has already happened and it's too late to change anything. (*sigh* I wish I was young and in film school again...)
