i loved this game i played it when i was 5, i have the original disk and the past as future on my ipod. can someone tell me the difference between invention travel and adventure and past as future.. i did realize that one of the trains in the original was switched with a different one in the new one.
Gadget was a WONDERFUL "game"....it was back in the days when the sounds of Doom still scared me (we're all anesthetized to stuff now!). I lent Gadget to a friend, a real mistate, as I never got it back.
Hands down one of the best PC games of our time, I loved the suspense in this game and it was so much fun to play and the soundtrack was great as well
hah o man i loved this game, i still do. of course i haven't played it in quite some time, but does anyone remember what that ending was all about? how that guy turned into the kid n all that?
Haha i'm gonna try to. I couldn't find my old copy so I bought another off of amazon last night. you said earlier that it'll work on a 'modern' computer, right?
:D :D :D omg i lol'd the entire way through this. i grew up playing this game and it was a freakin' trip watching this for the first time in like a decade. i had no idea what the game was about, except that it was fun because it had trains in it :P
oh, im glad somebody else remembers this game. yeah me and my cousin played it on my uncles computer. i was seven and he was 5. it was so creepy. i wish i could own it, but if i rebuy it, my pc wont read it cause it was written in dos.
i'm only 3 pages in and it's not holding my interest. but, i'll stick with it and let you know...the book's purchase was completely spontaneous...it "called to me" when i was at the store, you know what i mean? i dunno, could be just not my thing...
no, a paperback novel. my experience was fairly "objective", since i had no prior exposure to the Gadget world. the novel was so-so; still an invigorating story for avid Science Fiction readers. the book is called The Third Force. check it out, you might dig more than i did. :)
The sensorama was a posthypnotic machine that the regime had the scientists create to brainwash everybody, but the scientists hacked it to put hypnotic suggestions to revolt when they saw an airship in the sky. Well, they realize a comet is coming, so they have to use the airship to escape- so when the airship leaves with the scientists, there's a revolution. Then a comet. No explanation on the creepy kid, though- he's mentioned, but not explained.
I always assumed it was some kind of government conspiracy to control people and that there actually was no comet. Now I have to replay the game and see if I could get that out of it. Apparently there's a novel of some kind so I'll have to look into that too and see if it explains any of that.
Thanks for the heads up on the art book by the way, getting it online pretty soon!

Loved this game, as a kid this was the first thing I ever played, along with MYST. If you've got XP, it will run- hasn't worked for me in Vista.

I'm trying to download this game in spanish. There are 2 versions, one in 4 CD (Gadget: Past as Future) and this one.

As long as you install the old version of Quicktime, it should run. It doesn't seem to work on Vista, but it's fine on XP.

You've gotta play it again, it makes so much more sense when you aren't 5 or 6 (that's how old I was the first time around).

Are you talking about the visual novel? There was a book released, but it was mostly CG images and art.
I loved this game as a kid. I wish I could play it again. Is there a torrent around?

Yup. Gadget artbook. It explains everything:
The sensorama was a posthypnotic machine that the regime had the scientists create to brainwash everybody, but the scientists hacked it to put hypnotic suggestions to revolt when they saw an airship in the sky. Well, they realize a comet is coming, so they have to use the airship to escape- so when the airship leaves with the scientists, there's a revolution. Then a comet.
