  • cheap trick, just a triangle strip for the outside and a basic shader like velvet for the inside

  • Is your atmosphere real scattering, or a trick?

  • I want this thing!!!. Not the planet, but the generator. For my space art, and a mmo I'm gonna make during/after college.

  • Is this available for download?

I'm part of a small Game Studio and we need a procedural, complex planet creator for our next project..

    Does this have Physics implamented?

Contact me if you can help. ~GDG, Script Writer/Creative Director.

  • veeery nice :) when a 2nd part? :D

  • Very nice in deed, good job.

  • music from solaris yesssss

  • very impressive! well maybe does it generate like this almost straight away or did you do it all yourself like on a real software such as 3ds max?

  • There is no such thing as "real software". It's all just software, or PROFESSIONALLY DEVELPOED software.

But anyho, I think he made it himself.

  • what i meant is is it made form scratch ? for example ..poly by poly and editing all the textures yourself? or is it all built in ...

  • I know, sorry if it sounded like I didn't know what you were talking about.

  • Does anyone ever read the description? It says that he did it for his thesis. Of course he made it himself.

  • can you not read my comment ?

i diddnt say he diddnt make it .. i was asking whether or not he made it from scratch(poly by poly and texture by texture) or whether or not he had some sort of planet generating software ...

  • To end all the stupidity, he did it procedurally, with pixel / vertex shaders and a box of scraps. I don't think 3ds even does this kind of thing.

  • hardly stupidity .. i was using max as an example .. i was wondering whether he had made his own procedural shader or what?

  • All was generated using my own system, the project was not just the renderer, it was also the planet generator. But I just used perlin noise.

  • im thankfull for the answer :)

  • Very impressive. Any chance of seeing the source code? I am also a student and would love the opportunity to see how you did this!

  • Is this opengl or direct X or something else ??

  • is this downloadable?

I would love to play it!

  • Well, I think I will never release a downloadable version, it was just a project, its not useful at all and everythink you could see is in the video. :/

  • Well unless you plan to do something else with it, I would suggest you definitely release the source code for us who are interested!

It's all very cool and would like to see how you thought of some stuff.

  • @avpruler2007 I want to know too!

  • @avpruler2007 Yeah , I would like to download it too!

  • Have you seen "Infinity: The Quest for Earth"'s technology?

  • Yep, the work of that guy is amazing. I have to say I inspire myself watching his videos.

  • I don't know what's wrong but every comment I make never shows up. For every video I try.

  • well this one certainly showed up.

  • looks good :) dynamic scaling of detail was awesome

  • thanks, it was the main point, its a pity I didnt get more detail.
