No this is Warhammer 40,000 from Games Workshop. Its been around since the 1980s its only relatively recently that this game Dawn of War came out. Starcraft was originally intended to be a 40k game but GW pulled out of the deal so Blizzard had to change some stuff. But it still is very similar to 40k. But the lore of 40k is a hell of a lot more brutal. Humans are Space Nazis. All aliens are trying to kill mankind. Daemons have a habit of eating whole planets. Oh and mankind worship a corpse.

Well in the battle for Kronus the IG refused to leave, so the Space Marines attacked them. That's actually in the official storyline. In the timeline for 40k the Space Marines took over Kronus. As I said before, in order to do that the SM had to fight the IG.
