If banks had held to their principles, in spite of the ACORN picketing and push from bleeding-heart liberals, they never would have gotten in trouble! Banks got greedy, and were told they could dump the loans onto Freddie & Fannie.

We worked for a year before we got married, and then we had a baby. We were not well off; just very thrifty. My husband only made $7,000. but it went a long way, because the money supply hadn't been so inflated! I do remember paying 9 1/4 interest though.

40 years ago when we bought our first home we had to have 20% down, and 3 years proof of income. We had no credit history because we'd paid cash four our 67 Camaro. I think my father-in-law co-signed, but I don't remember. He co-signed so we could buy a fridge, and a washing machine, then we paid for them in cash, to avoid interest. We were 20 and 22 years old, with an infant!

Forty years ago?! Well hell, the house, fridge, car, washer/dryer and all only cost a couple of hundred bucks 40 years ago. Checked out any current prices on those items lately? You will be taking out a loan, or let that shit stay in the damn store!

Well, actually, the 30yr old, 3 bedroom 1 bath house on a half acre w/fruit frees,grape arbor, 10 large oaks,remodeled eat-in kitchen, fireplace, hardwood floors and half a club basement, cost us $15,000. The new 67 Camaro was $2,400. Don't remember the washing machine cost, or the fridge but I did without a dryer and I hung up cloth diapers which I rinsed in the toilet. THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

My point was, we paid cash for everything, except the house, and we had to put 20% dn.
