  • Hahaha my basset hound dose that but much faster

    Still very cute hahaa

  • I love how droopy basset hounds get, so floppy and cute :)

  • He does NOT need to shed ANY pounds...he's perfectly plump for me! Gorgeous all over!

  • That basset is overweight. I've had two. A trim basset can run and play very easily and stairs are zero problem (until old age). Ours plays very well with our boxer and sprints around outside and swims very well. People like their bassets to be fat, but its not good for them. A trim basset is a happy, long lived basset.

  • My Basset likes to climb and is a trim 47lbs. Stairs are no problem. She also likes to run.

  • My mum has two bassets and that one is overweight. Like every dog breed they should still have a clearly defined waist line from above. He doesn't. Hes clearly happy and loved but is definitely overweight, I hate that people think Bassets are "supposed" to be fat, they have enough strain on thier joints and back without extra weight

  • Bassets are an asset !!! I love Henry....he is so cute.

  • That's what my bassets do!

  • He's just big built and adorable. Keep em coming. :-) I have a girl basset that is on the petite side.

  • He doesn't need to loose some weight, he's just fluffy, I have a basset hound and I always make her go down the stairs first so I can watch her do that same bouncing. She reminds me of a Slinky.

  • Go Henry!!

  • i have two bassets ones a puppy ones not and the little one follows the big one around every where

    big ones name :shy

    little ones name :lola

  • I think its the cutest thing when they come down the stairs with the rolls of fat on there head.!!! :)

  • to tell you the truth its not fat its just extra skin that they seem to have

  • I've had Basset Hounds for many years and my family rescue them and we've always been told that Bassets must NEVER GO UP AND DOWN STAIRS!

They are very heavy dogs and yours looks particularly heavy and when they go down stairs, there is far too much weight put upon those two dumpy front legs and they can suffer from joint pains/sprains or displaced ligaments!!!!

  • good point

  • Yes, one solution would be to exercise them more, so they will keep leaner and healthier.

  • lol my two bassets do that too lol its sooooooo cute!!! go henry!!!

  • aww, dose he do the same thig when he gose upstaris? cause ours dose, it is so cute to see him do it.

  • basset hounds are my most favorite dogs ever!

  • my basset hound Scooby Doo goes down our staris like that too, its soo funny to watch him teeter down the steeps like that.

  • a little bit of why it is wonderful to be alive- to watch this.

  • He's Gorgeous We Have A Basset Although Shes Only A Puppy And We Carry Her Up And Downstairs Unfourtuanatly Shes Getting A Little Bit Big For That Now =[.... We'll Have To Buy Her A Stair Lift Lol =]

  • And here I thought my basset, Droopy, was the only one who went down the stairs like a seesaw. Thanks!!! *****

  • cute basset but he should lose some weight.

  • he's actually not overweight. hard to believe, i know, but he is the correct weight for a bassett.

  • I took my BH to the vet last week and he is much leaner than this one and the vet told me he needed to gain just a few pounds because being overweight for a BH causes joint and other problems. I know, I´m not a vet but he looks overweight and you can see because of the lack of agility. My BH would come down a lot quicker. Anyways this is just my opinion, please don´t get mad at me, You´ve got a beautiful dog. :-)

  • i believe you he just looks fat cause hes got extra skin

  • aww, stairs are actually really bad for bassetts--causes hip and back probs. is it possible to keep his food/bed on the same ground-level floor? adorable though :-)

  • you'll be happy to know that we have an elevator in our house and he rides up and down on it. this was a rare exception.

  • For serious? Or...are you joking ;-) ?

I know in some homes it's impossible to avoid stairs--my relatives have a bi-level & they also have 2 bassets so stair-hopping is a daily event (even though there's really nothing of interest to the dawgs in the basement, they want to check it out anyway).

  • For Serious. The elevator was not put in for him, but it is definitely a benefit. He actually does have lower back problems. Two herniated disks to be exact. Stairs are actually really bad for bassetts. The effects may not show up when their young, but they will certainly catch up with them as they get older.

  • That is really great to hear about the elevator. I hope they look into getting one installed, as like you said, the stairs will catch up with the dogs eventually :-(

  • @widowhlper there go my dreams of having a basset :) i already have a labradoodle with a bum acl ligament and nooo way do i want to bother with that again..or maybe my dog just purposfully makes me feel bad for him he's very smart that way :)

  • nice hop

  • Your Basset is soooo cute, any more videos of him?

  • there is one more of him posted under videos where he is getting out of a basket that is way too small. we have 2 welsh corgis that we got this basket for, but henry insisted on getting in it. you can check it out under widowhlper.
