  • Would you go streaking? So why would you trap recycling in an outdate model that actually hinders recycling and prevents sustainability? Its time to get recycling out of the 70's and start recycling for today. Step 1 Can the bottle bill. Bottles and cans make up roughly 3% of the waste stream. We need to focus on true recycling programs, such as expanded curbside recycling and recycling containers placed in conjunction with trash receptacles in public places. A bottle bill is just a tax.

  • He sounds mis-informed.

Bottle Bill states have 3X the recycling than those without.

There's an area in the Pacific Ocean between US and Japan that has an area twice the size of Texas filled with plastic bags and plastic bottles, according to a NPR piece broadcast 10.28.2007. Bottle bills help litter!

  • I agree with you that bottle bills are a great idea and I fully support them. However, I live in Oregon and the law has just taken effect. So far it is a complete disaster. The state has failed to properly inform businesses of the new law, and require manufacturers to label the bottles. I support the bill, but the state did a terrible job of implementing it.
