  • My mother got married to my stepfather in 1976 when we still lived in Canada, my stepfather was from the netherlands and my mother and him met while he was on holidays in Canada. Anyways after the holidays for him were over and he had to leave he promised to write every week and after the first week indeed a letter arrived and a record, it was a freddy fender record with the htisong at the time, Before the Next Teardrop falls, back in those days when music was music and lovers had "their" song

  • I have always loved Freddie Fender and cried so much the day I heard he was dead. His voice is so haunting and so melodius. I have a CD of his concert in Laughlin, Nevada, and we play it so often at our house. Thank you for sharing his music with everyone to enjoy.

  • @vilmad007 Hi, was this the concert at the Riverside in about 1991?? If so, I was at the concert too. I was sitting right in front of Freddie and got to speak to him between sets. If this was the show, could you please send a copy of your cd? Regards, Nick

  • this song was dedicated to me by my old boyfriend Hector Zamarripa, who's heart I apparently broke many years ago when I decided to marry someone else. Well I've divorced and remarried and am very happy now, but I still remember my old boyfriend and how much he loved me when I hear this song. It brings me peace to know there was always someone out there who cared for me no matter what I was going through. thanks freddy! thanks Hector!

  • @nguerrero57 mm-m you appear to be a bad woman, leaving a good unconditional man to marry another. . . its nice to be loved unconditionally but how many can do it? would I love an evil bitc$ like that? don't know probably not. . .but if Freddy wrote a song like this one it shows he had a big heart, amen to that, may he rest with the Lord

  • @nguerrero57 You don't know what you've got till it's gone.

  • This is a wonderful song and I remember it being played on a 8 track player traveling to the pool for swim lessons in my neighbors car. One of the best songs of the 70's and of all time. This man should have been inducted into the country music hall of fame. I think it is a shame he wasnt before he died. I wonder does anyone know if one can contact them requesting he be inducted?

  • my father was traditional Korean man and loved Freddie Fender. They were the same age and passed away 5 years apart

  • I'm from Latvia (look on the map where it is!) but I love Freddie Fender too. A great singer... Gracias, Baldemar!!!

  • hello

If I am not mistaken, from what I remember from a legendary country music program we had a score of years ago, Freddie Fender is from Mexico, and his real name is Valdemar Huerta.

  • Comment removed

  • @MONICA0465 Baldemar Huerta known as Freddy Fender was born in San Benito, TX.

  • this is such a beautiful song i remeber singin it with my dad at Kereoke

  • Freddy re-invented himself several times. In the late 1940's and early 50's he was known as The Bebop Kid, then in the late 1950's he changed his name to Freddy Fender. It took awhile for mainstream U.S. audiences to take to him, but when they did they loved his sound. For good reason. He was one most talented tenor's in the world.

  • Freddie Fender was and will always be remembered as a great talented singer. He represents the best of both Mexican and American artistic expression in song. A sweet smooth velvety voice, without all the vocal gynmastics of today. We don't realize how good we had it when he was amongst us...If you are a member of his family and you read this I offer long belated condolences...I want to cry everytime I hear this song...He was a treasure. May GOD rest his soul...GOD Bless you all...:)

  • @JOHNROBERTCRUZ

Your right, although many of us did realize it when he was alive..I was married to a Mexican lady who hated traditional Mexican music, but she loved Freddie, so went and saw him whenever he came to town..and he never failed to deliver..like you said, a great, great singer and talent..

  • Love this song!!! So proud ti be a Mexican-American!

  • si te quiere de verdad y te da felizidad le deseo lo mas bueno a los dos pero si te ase llorar a me me puedes ablar y estare con tigo cuando triste estes

  • The label for this artist doesn't promote or market his music, but don't even try to upload his music, B/C they will nuke you.

  • gives me the chills...:))

  • I've found it. Wow! I've heard this when I was only a kid at about 5/6, can't remember. But the song is still in mind til now. Awesome !

  • i be there when i died

  • super good song thanks

  • Una cancion Hermosa!!! un himno al que ama en silencio......

  • A great talent and in my eyes represents what music from Texas should be like since a large portion or Texas was once Mexico. Tex Mex music! Trini Lopez has a similar sound.

  • Who doesn't like this 1? Show some respect, gang. The man's dead. Billboard's #4 hit of '75. Freddy hit #1 country, and, pop, #19 AC in Billboard. Dios te bendiga! RIP, Freddy!

  • He wrote Holy One in 1956! over 50 years ago thats how long his career is for those of you who reckon his career was short need not comment.

  • He is my grandmother's cousin, they grew up together. I was born in Harlingen Texas. I finally youtube'd him while hearing my dad talk about him tonight, and I can definitely say that I love and appreciate his music :)

  • Bravo from Macedonia!

(I miss here Flaco Jimenez with his accordeon...)

  • Freddy had a relatively short career but he put out some major hits. Does anyone know Freddys real name? I know Freddy Fender was his Stagename

  • @Mattea68

Freddy Fender 's real name was Baldemar Garza Huerta he was born on June 4, 1937 in San Benito, Texas and died on October 14, 2006 in Corpus Cristis Texas, United States, He was an American Tejano, country and rock and roll musician, known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornados. He is best known for his 1975 hits "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" and the subsequent remake of his own "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights".

  • @philipjobo wow copy and paste from Wikipedia hardcore

  • @philipjobo Born to a family of migrant workers in San Benito, Texas, on June 4, 1937, his real name was Baldemar Huerta. He later adopted the professional name of Freddy Fender, borrowing the last name from the brand name of the electric guitar he played.

  • @y107

never knew that, yeah my mom use to play freddy when i was growing up, i remeber the music,, very cool, brings a tear to my eye know and rembering the old days....... Rip freddy!!

  • @philipjobo Didn't he have a brother named Bennie Bumper? Jes kidding. I loved Freddy's songs back in the 70's. Huerta actually did prison time in Louisiana's Angola prison for (oh my!) the heinous crime of possessing marijuana. The Beatles are lucky they didn't end up there, too, when they played in New Orleans.

  • @philipjobo I live in San Benito. His grave site is incredible! They did some justice in paying respects to him with the design.

  • @philipjobo Freddy's "RELATIVELY SHORT CAREER" lasted till the day he dropped at an age of 69.

  • @philipjobo im sad now i didnt know he wasnt alive:(

  • @Mattea68

    Baldemar Huerta

  • @Mattea68

  • @Mattea68 Yeah I guess 35 years is a short career...

  • @Jukeboxguy00 , he might have had 35 yrs total but he really only had a few songs on the country charts so basically his career was shorter than 35 yrs for him to gain fame

  • @Mattea68 Baldemar Huerta Medina

  • my girl and me love this song with Freddie Fender

  • Thank you for removing distasteful remarks. I didn't see them, but have seen ignorance on other posts and find them annoying. Thanks for sharing Freddy with a song that others sang but didn't make a hit.
