I just saw this wonderful man live, and had the extremely good fortune to be able to shake his hand and get a picture with him. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, obviously an extremely spiritual and musical man. It was the most fantastic concert I have ever seen, and if anyone out there ever has the chance to see him, you should immediately jump at it. But you knew that without me telling you, huh? :D

Big Joe, Krummy Bear, That's 3 octaves, not 2, not 4. The first note is Eb2 (part of the second complete octave on the piano) followed by Gb a 10th above that then up to Eb4 with a slide down to Db4 back up to Eb4 (an embellishment) and then up to Eb5 (5-2=3) The octaves are tricky for the ear to pick out so it's not surprising to get confused. What's more shocking about is the breath control, to listen to how efficiently he uses his breathing to support his tone is mind boggling.

Which means... you could say he actually touched the 4th octave if you think of it in ranges. The top note he sings could be considered the beginning of the fourth octave as well.
