@wvnota The LH should mimic the bass notes, which hit mostly on the beat. The RH responds with sort of syncopated rhythms, but that's because you're copying a guitar strum. If you play the low bass note first on beat 1, then play the other three bass notes on the next three beats, it's just a matter of coordinating it with the RH, which can take some practice.
@plpeak Hmmm... I hadn't thought about that.. You might try playing just the melody notes with either one (or two) fingers when you're first learning it so that you're familiar with the melody itself. If you find it gets easier to play after that, add the other notes as shown on the video. If it doesn't, then you can always just play the solo using only one note.. it doesn't sound bad doing it that way either.
Hi john! I got the sheet of music for that song and just to say that the cord you call "almost a D " is a Dsus ( a c g ) anyway, good job its an othet great video from you!:)
@syltorix Yes, the upper G makes it work like a sus4 chord, but I look at it more as a D11 since there's an A and a C in the RH as well. It was just easier to say "almost a D," I guess. Glad you like the vid, thanks!
Listening to the first demo part, I was afraid it was going to be a boring song to play on the piano. But that piano solo has made me really want to learn to play it now!
@Phranz0r Once you get the chords down, and there aren't very many of them here, the song can be huge fun to play. And yes, the solo really tops it off nicely!
Pianojohn113 I love you so much thank you for posting these tutorials which makes the world a better place! I appreciate all of your uploads very much, especially the Beatles ones because they are my favorite band (in fact, I'm wearing an Abbey Road t-shirt right now).
@johntsunami Yes, that's the fullest-sounding way to do it. I added the F# just out of habit, even though I don't think I mentioned it on the video. Using the F# is not required, but it helps.
Thanks, everyone, I appreciate the comments. I finally found the time to get new videos done. It's been a long time, I know. More coming in the next day or two!
Wow! Thanks! It's not SUPER difficult but at 4:14 when you reach down for the lower bass notes, that takes a lot of practice and accuracy. That's my biggest problem. I'll know what notes to play but often I'll hit a wrong one right next to it or sometimes I'll hit two at the same time. It's very frustrating. It feels like no matter HOW much I practice it I keep making that mistake every time I play it. Anyway, thanks again!
do you have the sheet music to this?!!

wvnota 3 months ago
@wvnota Do you mean when or what beat to play the left hand octaves?
pianojohn113 3 months ago
@pianojohn113 When. I got the notes but I can't get the rhythm right
