Incredible Look Back Upon The Absolute Seemingly Ungodliness Of Yesteryear! I Know All Those Wars Just Bring Me To A Complete State Of Unknowing When I Look More Closely Upon Them. NICE work RayT!
Man ,when that guy got dropped before he made it out of the trench brought a tear to my eye. Its so easy for those who know they won't have to fight to start a war.
Oh my gosh, Ray! You just broke my heart! Why do you make me cry so early in the morning? The innocent ignorance of these recruits. Reminds me of Wilfrid Owen's Disabled. I used to teach and when I saw the recruiters dropping by in the high schools to tell the kids how wonderful joining the Marines etc was, I just got so angry. The real life of war! So hard, so sad. I'm sitting around waiting for some of my young friends to return from Afghanistan. Sad. And the music in the vid breaks the heart.
wow. thanks for this.. i did a abstract painting about this a while back... about my grandfather ( polish) he was in the 2nd world war , saw some awfull things.. the 8th army. where you get this footage from.
My Grandfather served in WW I, he told me once..."there was nowhere to go, it was like waiting to die". He survived the war, and died in 1979. His son (my uncle) was shot by a sniper in WW II. My father served as a Nike missile launcher during the cold war in the 1950's, he never saw action though.
War sucks!
64m >:-)
Btw...thank you Ray, for your service in the R.A.F.
I think my great great granddad was in the Sudan, then Grandad in the Great War and me dad in the 2nd WW (RAF armourer). Me buver (RAF copper) and me a fireman..
My family were going to emigrate to Australia in the early '50s. If we had shipped over, I would be just the right age to fight in the Vietnam war....!!!!
sigh...

My brother and I were too young for Vietnam and too old for the Gulf wars. I guess we just lucked out, and broke a long family tradition ;)
Sometimes I look at my kids and wonder.
Cheers to the Turner family service!
Thank you.
