  • They have a thing like this in my hometown, and has been in place for 2 years now. It's caught on like wildfire. It has grown so fast the city is actually having a hard time fulfilling demand for these rent-a-bike stations. It compliments public transport perfectly.

  • they have the bike vending machine in Melbourne Australia

  • idear

  • not french, but hungarian bikes, from Budapest!!!!

  • Ideer !

  • by the way what are you doing in japan?

  • They're introducing those vending machine style bikes in london, nicer looking ones

  • mono bike strongly reminds me of the "butt" bike in southpark!!

  • How the world can reduction CO2?

  • bikes are sooo hipe nowadays

  • The uni-cycle reminds me of a Tezuka Osamu's old anime, W3.

  • Cool, some interesting bikes there...love the ski like braking system, probably hard on tyres, but interesting...cheers : )

  • The tire were solid so that may help but yea why not just used disks or calipers right?

  • They have a motorcycle version of the mono bike!

  • Actually some guy in the 70's made one on the west coast and he is still a bit famous for it.

  • Yeah! France RuLes! :-)

This is the french (Paris) vélib' at 2'14"!

I'm in Paris and use this on a regular basis with my subway card. You just take then on a station and drop then on another. Huge success here. Tourists love them too, nice way to discover the city.

Velib' is a contraction of vélo (bicycle) and liberté (freedom).

Sorry for this "french pride" minute, I just couldn't resist! :-)

  • Hey I am glad you commented! What happens if you do not return the bike or have an accident or a flat tire? I assume you have to put some collateral down when applying for the card? A credit card or something? Its a great concept... cheers France!

  • Sweet! Thanks.

  • great video todd thanks for uploading!

    5/5 and favorited :]

  • that one wheeler looks crazy!

I have to say your narration was well done.

  • Thanks... some times I get home and look at the raw footage and I am hardly in the video myself. So I have to narrate and its good to know it coming across well. Cheers!

  • Monobike looks like fun.

  • heeeeeeeeeeez back!

  • Cool!

  • what up toddster!! how ya been great video as always man!

  • Hey dude.... had a creative slump but back to the editor now!

  • YAYA! A Toddatron VIDEO!

  • A bike vending machine seems like a perfect match for Japan. They love bikes and they love vending machines. Why not put them together? Hmm. Cool video.

  • Yea I hope they try it. Its easier than trying to find a rental shop as a tourist. A drunk guy will not have to steal a bike to get home if he misses the last train. (It happens more than you think)

  • Nice :P

  • The bike vending machine is a super idea!

Hope it catches on - I'd definitely use it~

  • very cool. a downhill run on the monobike would be frightening.

  • Yea I wonder about breaking at high speed... would you flip around?

  • We have the bike vending machines here, in Montreal!

It's called BIXI, and it works with your credit card. You can return it at the many BIXI racks that are found throughout the city. It's a very interesting concept, though I've never used it myself.

  • Thats so COOL! A bike vending machines! I can only see them in big cities or and things. Parts of Tampa, Orlando, Clearwater, and few other places in Florida would love this!

  • Pretty interesting. I would love to ride on one of those bikes!

  • Cool... I wish I could have tried the monobike.

  • Thanks... do you think the bike vending machines will catch on?

  • cool. interesting vid~
