I feel this kind of technology is where the future is heading. The idea of having two screens creates a platform where multitasking can be achieved with the digital. By having a second screen additional content can be viewed simultaneously. There are a number of examples out there which are similar to this. Then again, why be bound be the screens we know right now? The screen itself will be changing dramatically in the next few years.
One cool use for this is for traveling or commuting. One uncool thing about this is that it doesn't come with built-in 3g or 4g capability. Sure, one could use up the one USB port to have a mobile broadband receiver sticking out awkwardly waiting to be broken off by someone rushing by your seat, but I think I'll just wait for gen2 of this concept.
@TheManManolo slow wow... one if u kno computers its 1.2 processor speed of course its gonna be slow.... its faster than a netbook its not made to be used like a regular laptop.... what u think a small product like that can hold the same speed as a regular laptop.... he said it already gets real hot... which means its borderline over heating... its 1st generation anyways...only laptop of its kind and with that internet speed b,g,n shit its worth it... better vent system this will be the future
Thanks very much for the careful review and demo. Running Windows 7 is an important thing that sets this tablet apart. I'm sure you were told this - its li-BRETTO, not liber-etto. It usually refers to the text of an opera or oratorio, where the author of the text was often a different person than the composer of the music. I suppose the words of any song could be called the libretto. And literally it is a small book. A creative name for a tablet. Toshiba - the text; you the music.
nice clip. have some of you people checked out the wow cheats pack from warcraftbotsXinfo (replace X with .) ? it's impressive, i just downloaded it. its got completely everything inside it, gold guides, bots, hacks, glitches and even the newest arena glitch. i probably shouldn't tell folks about it but at least it gives you all a fair chance to download it before i pwn you all
@ALKSAN modern processors allow full fledged OS on smaller devices. Both Android and IOS devices will be limited because of this, though I believe this is the intention of both Apple and Google.
@ALKSAN i agree that the dual screen is kinda out there, but win phone 7 is quite simply a striped down and targeted version of windows 7 itself, in other words, its the same thing you can already do with windows 7 just made official (you can rebuild windows 7 to the point where the install only takes around a gig of space and doesn't have any extra software for hardware you don't have) in that respect it has more in common with 2k and xp than vista, although you COULD do the same with vista
it looks well made and well designed, but seems a little gimmicky. they also seem to be pushing the hardware right to the edge, there doesn't seem to be much by way of extra resources. but it clearly has a pretty high cool factor.
This is a concept device, the point IS to push the edage rather than package an low power OS in a low power device. Remember this is a FULL function computer that weighs the same as an iPad, by definition that is pushing it.
@heatlesssun i understand that, i apologize if it sounded like i was thumbing down the device, as i said it has allot of cool factor, but also as i said its on the edge. in 2 or 3 years it will be somewhat simplistic and easy to pull off, and i can see where they are trying to go with it, and as it is it deffinately makes an ipad look like a bitch (i like modular operating systems) but i think they could do better if they didnt try to push so hard.
Just got mine in the other day and I do see your point but this is a science and that’s the point of the device. This device is the anti-iPad. The iPad is good at things like gaming and the W100 isn`t, the form factor doesn’t work well for one but the Libretto is an excellent content creation device for its size.
@heatlesssun cool cool, i hope you put it to good use =]. it is truly a cool device, and being able to use standard programs (to a large extent) is a huge plus
@heatlesssun yes, you can hear the fan when it's doing more CPU intensive stuff, it'll start to ramp up and you can feel hot air pumping out of the vent - it's a powerful CPU, so active cooling is required.
in our air conditioned office it wasn't too noticeable, and our video camera didn't pick up much of the noise it seems.
I don't think it's much louder than an average laptop fan.
Thanks! That's good to hear, no pun intended, this has been my main concern but wow what an impressive machine! Toshiba could sell all these they wanted if it were half the price.

the problem is win7.
on this kind of devices they should use android or upcoming win phone 7...
win7 is a fail coming to netbooks and slates...
they sould follow apple the is using os phone 4 on ipod iphone and ipad...
they didn't try to use leopard on ipad they know that would be a fail...
i see microsoft a lot in trouble putting win7 on these devices...
and space between 2 displays is too wide....
but Nintendo 3ds will be the killer of all !!
(slates,ipad...how they call portables??)
:D

i agree.
we must understand what toshiba is targeting with this device.
i'm italian.
"libretto" means "little book"
if the target is ebook market is totally useless have a full version of win7 that is not been engineered for such tasks.
if the target is a full touch netbook so this must be supported by software.
if libretto is the only one so it will be difficult to see optimized software on.
if libretto will start a trend then there will chance to see these devices fully support.
