I was there!! I agree with one of the posts here - Skynyrd were superb...The Stones came on very, very late, were off their faces, couldn't be arsed. Lots of people left during their performance - not least as they had to 'get the last bus home'.. I and my pals slept in a ditch at the side of the field, and were moved on by roadies the next morning...
the honkettes, they were great, Cassie is surely missed as her brother Steve, what a f@#$% tragedy, the only luck was they had no fuel when they crashed, or they all might have perished.. listening to the friend of Ronnie ( Gene Odum ) i think is his name tell the story is hair raising.. he gives a vey detailed and accurate account and clears up alot of rumours and falsehoods about that tragic day..
@megaEDWIN3 the stones mostly are shit when they perform live, its all just a giant money grab for them and all involved in their tours, they have not been a great band live or any form since Brian left, they had a few last gasps of talent in the late 60's early-mid 70's and one good lp (Some Girls) in the 80's .. since that era- its been all about maintaining a lifestyle.. hey i would do it if i were in that situation..
The chick in the bikini @ 2:45 is peakin' on blotter acid. HAHA Seriously, I think concerts were better back then. You could party. Now it's like the Gestapo. No smokin' clappin' standin' smilin'. 120 of your favorite dollars to stand there like you're at the library.
I was there, somewhere by the tree in the opening shot. It was a great day and Skynerd were the highlight for me, a better performance than the Stones.
i saw ls 1st gig in the uk, they were supporting golden earing at the rainbow theatre , finsbury park, london , i was 16, half the audience left , after they finished so cool
Great to see these clips of the show. I was there and it's brought back many great memories of one of THE BEST bands ever. I was lucky enough to see them a number of times in their heyday. Fantastic!!
billy powell, what a legend,up there with Deep Purple's jon lord. thank u billy for the great playing u gave us british fans. fly freebird fly, ur home now. god bless ur soul. now time for u to rock in heaven.

Cassie Gaines, the back up singer in the middle, was such a natural beauty, it's a tragedy she died so young.
