@inbarshema You can mix them together in their dish. We have new fruit & veggie recipes on our website that make everything really easy. After making the fruit/veggie mix, you just fill up your ice cube trays & pour 3/4 teaspoon of HPW mix on top of each cube. There are full directions on our site. Then each night, you can just give each glider 2 cubes (thawed).
I am getting a sugar glider and I need some tips about feeding it. Is there any type of food that will make them sick or die? Because I want to know what not to feed it and what not to feed it.
@RockinThaSoLows Lumpy Jaw Syndrome isn't really an issue with sugar gliders. The hard food is actually good for helping keep their teeth & gums clean.
@DeNvErGuRl101 In this video, it is Premium Sugar Glider Diet. We used to sell this in our store, but now we're actually testing out a dry food that is a powder you add water to & turn into little crumbles for them. It stores longer & is used as a main diet for captive gliders in Australia. We should have that for sale soon. Our gliders really seem to like it.
so with this batch that you just made you don't have to add bugs?.. that is great..then I can buy the kit, and baby chow for the suggie and not worry about the bugs. I have enough wild crickets in my house she can go after..LOL then this is the food i will be using.. thanks so much for these videos..
@SassyMustang1980 Sugar gliders do love insects, but they're not required with this HPW Diet (although they are nice as treats). We have more info as well as some of the ingredients you'll need (for sale) on our website.
@MsHorselover8 Dry food is typically only recommended as a supplement if you want them to have a snack in case they wake up during the day or have it on hand just in case you're not able to feed them right when they wake up some nights. It is optional, not required. We have more info about this on our website.
Hello ^_^. I was on a sugar glider site and found your website. I haven't decided fully on getting one yet I am making sure to do my research, but would you possibly be able to give me a link to the information I need to know about sugar gliders? The expert village woman makes them sound horrible while I heard the asgv videos from sugarglidervet are from a sugar glider mill :( There is so much contradicting information! lol. I want to get one so bad but want to make sure I can care for it first.
@xSicSlipknotMaggotx I'm glad to hear you're doing research. You can visit our website at sweet-sugar-gliders(.com) for a lot of diet info. The expert village are somewhat designed to make impulse buyers think harder about what they're getting into. Yes, the ASVG vet is somewhat in cahoots with the largest glider broker in the U.S. Gliders are not the right pet for everyone. Do lots of research. Try GliderCentral(.net) as well. There's lots of info there. If you adopt, get from a good breeder.
@perdicious Thanks. You can get a cheap plastic container at Wal-Mart & cut or drill a hole in it. We should have some up for sale on our site soon too.
@Grrdakota they don't HAVE to have insects. Most gliders love them though & they would be eating insects in the wild. It's usually good to try & simulate their wild diet as much as possible.
@smudgetunes2 glidercentral(.net) has a good list of breeders on their links page. please do not ever buy from a pet store, trade show, fair, flea market, etc.
All sugar gliders pee on people. That has nothing to do with diet. Sugar gliders are fed their main diet once/day, in the evening. Our website has a TON of diet info. Please check it out if you have questions.
Please visit our website and click the "SSG Complete HPW Diet" link on the left for more details about our current nightly routine. We have changed our fruits & veggies since this recording and we do have a recipe for the frozen mix on our website.
Yes, they love moths. However, if you suspect any insect has come into contact with any type of pesticide, you shouldn't feed it. Better safe than sorry.
and i heard they like to chew on bark, i have apple trees in my yard, my family never puts poison or any spray on them because they are wild apple trees and the deer and other wild animals uselly eat them befor we can, so i was wondering if i could put branches and fallen bark in the cage for them to chew on
Yes, they love bark and apple tree bark is safe for them as long as it has not come into contact with pesticides. The bark will also help with dental health and can help file their nails a bit, in addition to being a good enrichment item.
I believe she was feeding HPW (High Protein Wombaroo). She has another video that shows you how to make it ^.^ It is a great diet that I feed to my suggies ^.^
Yes, I thought I had replied to this but I must not have. It is HPW, which can be found on our website sweet-sugar-gliders(.com). We have the recipe and a video of how to make it.
As the video description and title suggests, this is our "nightly" feeding routine. Since gliders are nocturnal, they must be fed like this in the evening, so the food is fresh for them when they wake up. Please visit our website for more diet info.
We have some really great diet info on our sweetsugargliders(.com) website. There you'll find approved diets (recipes & tips), safe fruits & veggies, etc. We're working on adding more content as well. The green stuff we put in for the example in this video was peas & green beans.
We have a list of safe fruits & veggies on our sweet-sugar-gliders (.com) website (left nav bar, mouse-over "diet basics" & you'll see it). Soon we will have information about calcium:phosphorus ratios, to help you determine which fruits & veggies to use. In this video, we are using peas & green beans, which have a low ca:ph ratio, so we tend to give papaya treats to increase their calcium intake & balance it out more.
Should i mix the hpw with the fruit and veg, or separate them?
