  • No other drummer is in his league.Awesome!

  • @Flatband Man, I'll tell you, I've just watched 10 or 20 Buddy videos tonight, but I think this one takes the cake. Mostly because it REALLY does have a melody. I can to some technique, and I can do some melody on drums, I think, but man he's doing both together and he always plays like that. It's not just rhythm, but it's music too. I think I finally understand Jazz a little bit now after seeing this video. I have never seen a rock drummer play like this, not even Neil Peart. Cool!

  • @Flatband It's like all my favorite rock drummers are kind of 1 dimensional, and Buddy Rich is 3 dimensional. I wondered what Buddy thought of Funk music and drumming? Did Funk get started from hearing great jazz like this? It's like there are 2 drummers playing on this drumset. lol

  • @metalfiend124

I tell ya Metal,I don't know what he thought of other kinds of music, but as a drummer,he would have appreciated some of the heavy rock tunes of today ( not RAP though-JEEZ!). Anyway, he was something wasn't he? Never even took a true drum lesson either-heck did'nt even practice that much! Pure, natural born talent. Something to really admire!

  • ey he is using his second floor tom....!!!! very rare...

  • @pegrueneis You know, I've wondered why he had 2 floor toms and only 1 rack tom instead of 2 also. john bonhams kit was identical to buddy's 2 floor tom kit.

  • That's like telling Gene Krupa not to go "boom boom bap ba'dum da doo ba'doom!"
