I also don't see it as a flaw in the film (was there EVEN film??). I do see it as an explosion-- Of GLASS, upon the nose hitting tempered window glass, which WOULD, in sunlight, emit a white-blue light.

I'd find myself hard-pressed to state with ANY certainly that this could be any other sort of explosion-- surely NOT a bomb or a missile, than that of tempered glass, lit in the sun!

Right. I have not "studied" this, though I can see that the nose did hit before the rest of the plane (of course) so what appears to be an explostion could very well be an explosion of windows. Of course, IF there had been another color (like red/yellow) rather than blue-white (as tempered glass would be as it explodes into millions of fragments), a bomb would look right. THIS explosion (as it was an explosion of sorts) simply LOOKS to be that of GLASS.
