"One Great City" was actually Winnipeg's little "tagline". I believe it's meant to be ironic in the title of the song.

And no, Winnipeg is a terrible city, in all honestly. There are some parts I like(the exchange district, mostly), but it's pretty trashy for the most part. When I look around everything is grey and square, devoid of any real life or creativity. I'm sure people will thumbs down this comment but living here has made me miserable. I fear being stuck here forever.

@wuhoooh I've always thought of this song as a bittersweet love song to a city. When living there, many of us suffer from what I refer to as "Winnipegger's Lament" but once you leave (and if you want to you will) if you hear someone slag your home town, it gets your back up.

Almost everyone from winnipeg will say they hate winnipeg, but they'll defend it fiercely when someone else tries to bash it lol. It's a love-hate thing. At the end of the day, most people who move away from winnipeg will still call it home.

Better than any shitty attempt I took at this song.

The only problem I have is that the lyrics and vocal melody have a folk-y feel to them, which, as good as your voice is, you didn't pull off (in my opinion).

That was the only thing I found distracting in this cover.

But a great job with the guitar and timing.
