Back in that era, it must have been a contest between TV stations to see which one can scare the shit out of kids the most. Weird scanimate graphics and primitive synth music worked wonders in that department. Brings back lots of memories though.
I believe this came from a 3D demo reel from the late-70s/early-80s...IIRC the original demo ran about 15 minutes. I saw this about six years ago, and remember being truly shocked to see a WTVZ graphic from that era.
As of now, this might be the oldest Youtube clip from Hampton Roads media.
Yes, this did come from a Scanimate demo reel I own. Most of the station/market clips I post individually come from the 1976-81 timeframe, give or take.

channel 33 was tight.. I remember the other UHF channel in Tidewater back in the late 70s & 80s was channel 27..
they were both running sitcom reruns & 'Peoples Court', shows like that, etc..
